Yeshua responds, "I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith." 8:5-13 7:1-10 56 Recognition of authority throughout Israel Yeshua resurrects son of widow at Nain. / "Fear gripped them all, and they began glorifying God" / "This report concerning Him went out all over Judea and in all the surrounding district." 7:11-17 PART III THE CONTROVERSY OVER OF THE KING 57 Rejection of the Herald John sends his disciples to ask Yeshua, "Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?" / Yeshua quotes Isaiah 29:18-19, 35:5-6, and 61:1-2 / Yeshua says leaders have rejected his message about the Messianic Kingdom, "But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected God's purpose for themselves, not having been baptized by John." / John accused by Pharisees - "He has a demon!" 11:2-9 7:18-35 58 Curses on cities of Galilee "Then He began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent." 11:20-30 59 The Pharisee and the sinner Yeshua invited to dine with Simon the Pharisee and become indignant when woman (likely a prostitute) weeps at Yeshua's feet. The twelve were with Him..." 8:1-3 Notes: Scope of Ministry prior to Rejection John and Jesus' Message to Israel = 1) Repent, 2) the Messianic Kingdom is at hand Jesus, (and or John) preaches / teaches publicly that Jesus is the Messiah of Israel 5

THE NATIONAL REJECTION OF MESSIAH BY THE NATION OF ISRAEL 61 Religious Leaders of Israel Officially Reject Her King The leadership of Jerusalem, having received witness in Jerusalem of the Messianic Miracle of the Jewish leper healed of leprosy by Messiah (Section 45), descend to Galilee to make their conclusion about the claims of Yeshua that HE is the Meissah and the King of Israel. Yeshua performs another Messianic Miracle - the healing of the mute demon possessed man. The people ask the leadership in response to the observation of this Messianic Miracle, "this man cannot be the Son of David, can he?" The leadership finishes its observation and interrogation of Yeshua's claims and renders the conclusion. "But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, 'This man casts out demons only by Beelzebul the ruler of the demons.'" Yeshua announces that in rejecting Him as Messiah and King, the leadership of the nation of Israel has committed the Unpardonable Sin. Yeshua announces the post-rejection policy of division in the nation of Israel, "He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters." THE MINISTRY OF THE MESSIAH AFTER THE NATIONAL REJECTION BY THE NATION OF ISRAEL 12:22-37 3:20-30 62 Messiah's new policy concerning Signs "An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet..." 12:38-45 63 Repudiation of All Earthly Relationships "My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it." 12:46-50 3:31-35 8:19-21 64 The Course of the Kingdom Program in the Present Age As a result of His rejection by the nation of Israel, the Messianic Kingdom will not come forth to that generation of Israel, but will be postponed for a future generation of the Nation of Israel. Yeshua no longer publicly proclaims that He is Messiah in an attempt to be recieved as King and He begins teaching in parables. 13:1-23 4:1-25 8:4-18 65 Messiah's Power over Nature "What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?" 8:18, 23-27 4:35-41 8:22-25 66 Messiah's Power over Demons "They came to Jesus and observed the man who had been demonpossessed sitting down, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the "legion'" 8:28-34 5:1-20 8:26-39 6

67 Messiah's Power of Disease and Death Woman with issue of blood touches Yeshua and is healed. Jesus raises the daughter of the synagogue official from the dead. 9:18-26 5:21-43 8:40-56 68 Messiah's Power over Blindness Jesus restores sight to blind man who recognizes Him as Messah. In keeping with his ministry after His rejection by the Nation of Israel, Jesus warns the man, "See that no one knows about this!" 9:27-34 69 The Messiah's Final Rejection in Nazareth Just as Messiah is initially rejected at his home in Nazareth (Section 39), the Nation of Israel initially rejects Messiah later (Section 61). The final rejection of Messiah by his home occurs here (Section 69). Israel's final rejection of Messiah will occur later (Section 119) 13:54-58 6:1-6 70 Witness in View of Rejection Messiah moves to reach individuals within the nation through the commission of the 12 Apostles. Jesus warns the Apostles to expect rejection. 9:35-11:1 6:6-13 9:1-6 71 The Death of the Herald John the Immerser is executed by Herod Antipas 14:1-12 6:14-29 PART IV THE TRAINING OF THE 12 BY THE KING 72 The Feeding of the 5,000 Jesus performs the only miracle recorded in all four gospels. Yeshua's 3rd Passover in public ministry (3rd of 4 Passovers in ministry of Jesus which is likely 3 and 1/2 years) 14:13-21 6:30-44 9:10-17 6:1-13 29 AD (April) 32 73 Messiah s Rejection of Offer to Make Him King After miracle of the 5,000 the people attempt to make him King. Their offer of kingship is based on the motivation that Jesus can satisfy their physical needs (feeding). 14:22-23 6:45-46 6:14-15 74 The Training Through the Storm Jesus and disciples cross sea of Galilee from south side to north and encounter storm. Pete walks on water. 14:24-33 6:47-52 6:16-21 75 The Reception in Gennesaret "When they got out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, and ran about that whole country and began to carry here and there on their pallets those who were sick, to the place they heard He was." 14:34-36 6:53-56 76 the Bread of Life 3rd of John's 7 discourses of Jesus. I AM the Bread of Life. 6:22-71 77 Defilement Jesus confronts Pharisees over Mishna, "Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?" 15:1-20 7:1-23 '7:1 7

The Reception in Tyre Jesus explains mission to Gentile woman, I was not sent but unto the 15:21-28 7:24-30 78 and Sidon lost sheep of the house of Israel. Heals Gentile woman anyway. 79 The Reception in Decapolis Jesus continued ministry in Gentile Decapolis - healing of Gentile deaf / mute man and feeding of 4,000 15:29-38 7:31-8:9 80 The Rejection in Magadan Pharisees ask for a sign - "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah." 15:39-16: 4 8:10-12 81 The Warning Against Rejection Jesus warns against false teaching of Pharisees; heals blind man 16:5-12 8:13-26 82 The Confession of Peter Peter identifies Jesus as Messiah; Jesus predicts coming Ekklesia 16:13-20 8:27-30 9:18-21 83 84 the Death of the King the Kingdom: The Promise of Revelation For first time Jesus reveals that He will be murdered in Jerusalem; confronts Peter "Get thee behind me Satan." Jesus predicts that they will see Him in the Glory of the Messianic Kingdom; "... some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power." 16:21-26 8:31-37 9:22-25 16:27-28 8:38-9:1 9:26-27 85 Transfiguration (Revelation of the Kingdom) Fulfillment of Sec. 84; Peter, James, John see Jesus in His Glory of the Messianic Kingdom 17:1-8 9:2-8 9:28-36 86 Elijah Jesus explains role of Elijah and John the Baptist in establishment of the Messianic Kingdom 17:9-13 9:9-13 '9:36 87 Faith Jesus explains why disciples can't cast out certain demons during dispute with Scribes; healing of demon possessed man 17:14-20 9:14-29 '9:37-43 88 More Instruction Concerning the Death of the King For the 2nd time Jesus reveals he will be murdered in Jerusalem, "The Son of Man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later." 17:22-23 9:30-32 '9:43-45 89 Sonship Peter confronted about payment of Temple Tax; Jesus instructs Peter to find payment as coin in mouth of fish. 17:24-27 90 Humility Disciples discuss who will be greatest in the Messianic Kingdom, "If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all." 18:1-5 9:33-37 '9:46-48 8

"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would 18:6-14 9:38-50 '9:49-50 91 be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had Exclusiveness and Pride been cast into the sea." 92 Forgiveness Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven." 18:15-35 93 Discipleship "But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." 8:19-22 '9:57-62 94 The Challenge by the Brothers Jesus natural brothers challenge him to announce his role as Messiah at upcoming Feast of Tabernacles '7:2-9 95 The Journey to Jerusalem Jesus goes to Jerusalem for Feast of Tabernacles '9:51-56 '7:10 PART V THE OPPOSITION TO THE KING 96 The Conflict at the Feast of Tabernacles Jesus confronts leadership in Jerusalem during Feast of Tabernacles; theme = and there was a division '7:11-52 29 AD (Oct) 33 97 The Conflict Over the Law Pharisees test Jesus over woman caught in adultery; "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more." '7:53-8:11 98 The Conflict Over the Light "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life." '8:12-20 99 The Conflict Over His Person Yeshua claims divinity; "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." So the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM." '8:21-59 100 The Conflict Over Healing of Man Born Blind Yeshua performs 3rd Messianic miracle. Yeshua provides parable of Good Samaritan '10:25-37 104 The Example of Fellowship Jesus counsels Martha; "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
