OBITUARY INDEX The following reply regarding the Obituary Index was received by Joyce Whitten, jwhitten@bscn.com and we wanted to share it with the rest of the Society. This is exactly why we make the effort. HELLO AND GREETINGS FROM MONROE, GA I just received the November 2005 Newsletter and having just read your OBITUARY INDEX column, I can't help but believe that those of us that refer to the Obituary Index, and the other sources of information that you provide, we don't say thank you enough. So, I just wanted to say, "Thank you!" and to all the others for your find work. During the past five years there is seldom a week that goes by that I don't refer to your site for information. BEGINNING GENEALOGY: next class will be February 6 & 7, 2006. We will meet at the Jonesboro Public Library from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. In the event of inclement weather we will reschedule. Christmas List I have a list of folks I know all written in a book And every year at Christmas time I go and take a look, And that is when I realize that these names are a part Not of the book they are written in, but of my very heart. For each name stands for someone who has crossed my path sometime, And in that meeting they've become the rhythm of the rhyme. And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim, I really feel I am composed of each remembered name. And while you may not be aware of any special link, Just meeting you shaped my life more than you may think. For once you've met somebody, the years can't erase The memories of a pleasant word or of a friendly face. So never think my Christmas greeting is just mere routine Of names upon a Christmas list forgotten in between. For when I send a Christmas greeting that is addressed to you, It's because you're on that list of folks I am indebted to. For I am but a total of the many folks I've met, And you happen to be one of those I prefer not to forget, And whether I have known you for many days or few, In some way you had a part in shaping things I do. And every year when Christmas comes, I realize anew The biggest gift life can give is meeting folks like you. And may the spirit of Christmas that forever and ever endures Leave its richest blessings in the heart of you and yours. Author unknown 4
