Welcome to Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ An Open and Affirming Congregation 450 West Main Street, Mountville, PA 17554 www.mountvilletrinityucc.org www.facebook.com/mountvilletrucc (717) 285-5593 Sunday, March 26, 2017: Fourth Sunday in Lent GOD IS STILL SPEAKING

PRELUDE/GATHERING MUSIC WELCOME/ANNOUNCEMENTS MISSION OFFERING: One Great Hour of Sharing *INVOCATION IN SONG Above All Blue Song Book p. 95 *PASSING OF THE PEACE OF CHRIST [during the winter months, many people become concerned about the spread of germs that cause cold and flu symptoms; we invite you to participate in the tradition of passing the peace in ways that you are comfortable with while honoring the preferences of others whether that means shaking hands or simply offering a verbal peace to you ] [at this time children who are interested in attending Sunday School may go to the classroom downstairs] CALL TO RECONCILIATION One: Holy Jesus, we confess that we are sometimes too complacent with our woundedness. Being so sure that we are as well as we can be, we miss the truths you would teach us. With the invitation of your love, heal our brokenness. Open our eyes to our own misunderstandings, our own failures and our own faults. Make our shadow side known to us and help us to diminish it with the light of your grace. For it is only when we see ourselves clearly that we can worship you truly. In the name of Jesus, we pray our silent prayers of confession SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION ASSURANCE OF GOD S LOVING PARDON One: Holy Jesus, you do lighten our hearts. You do come to us where the night is deepest. You, Holy Shepherd, keep us beside the still waters and restore our souls, guiding us through all shadows to rest in your love. All praise and glory be to your sacred name. Amen. 2

RESPONSE OF PRAISE (remain seated) Oh, how He loves you and me, Oh, how He loves you and me. He gave His life, what more could He give; Oh, how He loves you, oh, how He loves me, Oh, how He loves you and me. PRAYER OF THE DAY: Christine Macready (Lay Reader) Discerner of hearts, you look beneath our outward appearance and see your sacred presence in each of us. Banish in us the resistance to healing that prevents us from recognizing the value of change, so we may see the world through the eyes of the Holy Spirit and with the compassion of the Christ who nourishes us. Amen. SCRIPTURE READING: Christine Macready (Lay Reader) John 5: 1-14 Matthew 14: 13-21 One: God is still speaking All: Thanks be to God REFLECTION ON THE SCRIPTURE: Pastor Don SHARING OF JOYS AND CONCERNS CALL TO OFFERING: Christine Macready (Lay Reader) Light of life, we offer to you a portion of our great blessing. Let us give to honor your love in the world, to honor your truth, to honor your forgiveness. In this One Great Hour, let us share our gifts so that many more of your children may see the light of your blessed realm a kingdom which cannot be hidden by the world s strife. OFFERTORY 3

*THE DOXOLOGY Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. ALL: Let us shine, Lord. One: Jesus said again: Neither do you put your light under a bushel, where it cannot be seen. And they answered: ALL: No, Lord, we will put our light on a stand where it can give light to everyone in the house. One: Let your light shine before all people that they may come into the light. *SUNG BENEDICTION (inside back cover of New Century Hymnal) *GO TO LOVE AND SERVE GOD AND ALL PEOPLE 4
