Pastor s Notes CHRIST THE KING OF THE UNIVERSE The Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, is the crown of the liturgical year. Jesus reign is truly not of this world; His kingdom is not power as defined by this world, but the love of God, a love capable of encountering and healing all things. Christ lowered himself to us out of his love, He lived our human misery, and suffered the lowest point of our human condition: injustice, betrayal, abandonment; He experienced death, the tomb, and went to the ends of the universe in order to embrace and save every living being. He did not condemn us, nor he conquered us, and He never disregarded our freedom, but He paved the way with a humble love that forgives all things, sustains all things. His love alone overcame and continues to overcome our worse enemies: sin, death, fear. Christ, our King, grant that we will see you in the eyes of the poor and sick, those who are disregarded in our society. We ask, to, that these, the least among us, might find you in our simple deeds of love. May we be your eyes and ears, your feet and arms, your loving embrace to all we meet. We ask this under the grace of your Holy Spirt in the power of your Kinship. Amen. It is time again for our annual Angel Tree which benefits the foster children of Blount County. Please prayerfully consider taking a tag from the tree in Shea Hall and filling the Christmas wish of a child in need. Unwrapped gifts can be returned, along with the tag, and placed under the tree. All gifts need to be collected by Sunday, December 17th to allow time to get them to the children. Please call Laura Rapien 983-3214 with any questions.
Eucharistic Adoration Eucharistic Adoration through exposition is a wonderful devotion that adores Jesus present in the Blessed Sacrament. Through a deeper love and closer relationship with Jesus, you acquire the strength, healing and peace to make it through your pilgrimage of life and to achieve your ultimate goal - Heaven and the Beatific Vision. What wonderful majesty! What stupendous condescension! O sublime humility! That the Lord of the whole universe, God and the Son of God, should Humble himself like this, under the form of a little bread, for our salvation....in the world I cannot see the Most High Son of God with my own eyes, except for His Holy Body and Blood. - St.Francis of Assisi Please prayerfully consider signing up for Eucharistic Adoration and spending one hour of your day on the first Saturday of each month in adoration with our Lord. We need to have at least two people during each hour to be with our Lord. It is extremely important that you sign up for a time slot on the sign up sheet in Shea Hall. Having Eucharistic Adoration available to us in this Parish is an unbelievable blessing, however, if we do not have at least two adorers per hour we will not be able to continue offering Eucharistic Adoration on the first Saturday of the month. Thank You in advance for spending time with Jesus. Sign up for Adoration on the sign up sheet in Shea Hall.
