November 2018 Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. (1 Thessalonians 5:13-15) Dear Church Family, The Bible has been our focus throughout the month of October as we remembered the heroes of the Reformation. The Bible was (is) inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is the Word of God and it was written for the betterment of our very lives. The passage above is no exception in this vast treasure of life-giving words. It sheds light on our path and helps us to live according to God s laws and so have a full and meaningful life. The current study in our *Adult Sunday School Class (*Every Sunday morning in Decker Hall from 8:15-9:15am) is 25 Ways to win With People (How To Make Others Feel Like A Million Bucks) a great title! In the book we can read the following quote by Les Giblin: You can t make the other fellow feel important in your presence if you secretly feel that he is a nobody. Thessalonians makes the same point except it uses different words. It is words like live in peace with each other encourage the timid help the weak be patient with everyone. One has to make room in their heart for God s Agape love to

accomplish this and indeed what we think about others shows up in how we treat them and how we talk to them. Yes, we cannot make the other feel like a million bucks when we secretly think that they are not worth a penny. What have we been thinking about others? Let s make a strong effort to live by the words from Thessalonians. God knows best and when our thoughts lead us astray in regards to our brothers and sisters let s put the brakes on and lead those thoughts captive like the Bible tells us to. I don t know about you, but reading the quote by Les Giblin and reading the Bible helps me once again to rethink and do it God s way. The wonderful thing is that God wants to help us. We don t need to do it on our own. Actually we can t! Deadline for The Israel Trip is November 4 th. Join us on this Amazing Trip, coming up in 2019. Remember to Fall Back One hour

Have you ever wondered about the history of Christianity? The church library has many books on this and many other subjects. A Global History of Christians by Paul R. Spickard and Kevin M. Craig is such a book. The authors have written a multicultural balance of ideas that have influenced the Christian church throughout the ages. Another book of interest is the History of Prayer in America: One Nation Under God by James P. Moore, Jr. This book shows that without prayer, the political, cultural, social, and even economic and military history of the United States would be vastly different from what it is today. New to the shelf is Ghost Boy: The miraculous Escape of a misdiagnosed Boy Trapped Inside His own Body by Martin Pistorius; a story of the author's struggle to live a normal life. Check out your church library! Start your day with Breakfast, Friends And good conversation! All women are invited to join together for breakfast on Wednesday, November 7th at Olde World Restaurant at 8:30 a.m. Check the sign up sheet in Fellowship Hall for more details.

From the Church Mouse.. The big orange things have arrived! They look so nice and colorful. Pip and I have been outside in the patch every day. Have you seen us? We try to sneak into everyone s picture without being noticed. It is good to see friends from previous years coming back to say hi and pick out their perfect pumpkin. Many plan to be back for the breakfast with the man in the red suit. The new big tree has arrived. Can t wait to see it all decorated. It is nice to see so many of our snowy birds coming back. They tell us that is was hot in the summer just like here. Sometimes it gets confusing with pumpkins, turkeys and Christmas trees all at the same time. Time for Pip and I to sell some pumpkins. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Ye Olde Church Mouse & Pip PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY Attention knitters and those who crochet! Prayer Shawls are now back meeting again on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. We hope to see you there.
