ScreenPlay By: Allan and Ashton Allan-Mr. Murry, Mrs. Who, Charles Wallace, and Mrs. Which, All of other the Beasts Ashton-Meg, Aunt Beast,Calvin, and Mrs. Whatsit Scene 1: Mr. Murry: Put her down right now, you hairy BEAST! Beast: I am sorry if we frightened you, but we are able to communicate with the other one better. *Turns to Calvin* Beast: Who are you, people? Calvin: My name is Calvin O Keefe Beast: Can you explain what that is? Calvin: I am a boy. Beast: Are you also afraid, too?

Calvin: I m not sure how I m feeling at the moment L Engle states, The Beast states, Tell me,... What do you suppose you d do if three of us suddenly arrived on your home planet (L Engle, 2007, p. 194). Calvin: I mean... I guess I would shoot you. Beast: Well then, shouldn t we do that to you guys too? Calvin: I I would prefer you not to shoot us. We love our Earth, and I really would rather be on Earth than on this planet. Smaller Beast: Maybe they are not used to visitors in other planets Calvin: You ve had visitors before. We haven t. Well, as far as I know. Beast: Are you from a dark planet? Calvin: No, we are not from a dark planet. But we are being shadowed, we are trying our best to fight it. Beast: You, the oldest man, where have you come from? Mr. Murry: We are from a planet called Camazotz, although we do not belong there. We are pretty much strangers here as we were back on Camazotz. I used to be a prisoner there,

however my children saved me. Yet, my younger son is still on that planet, and he is trapped inside the mind of IT. Beast: We need to take this child back with us Meg- Why father. Why must you let them make you leave me like you left your beloved Charles Wallace. Stop fighting, it ll only make it worse, just relax Meg- I will not listen for that is the same thing I heard from IT. HELP! Calvin, Father. HELP! Beast: This child needs some help, you must have trust in us! Mr. Murry: Can you help her? Beast: I ll try my best Mr. Murry: May I please stay? Beast: No. But you won t be far. We know now that you are hungry, and would like to be fed and rest. So, what do you call this, small thing? Calvin: Girl Beast: Well then this, girl needs special care. The coldness of the..what do you call it? Calvin: It is called the Black Thing.

Beast: Oh yes! The Black thing! (Carries Meg) There, there, I ll take care of you. Are you finally awake? Meg: Yes I am fine. But I am struggling to move. Beast: Stay seated, you shall not make yourself get up again. We will feed you later on, do not try to feed yourself. Meg: Where s Calvin and my father. Beast: In the moment, they are eating and resting, while also trying to learn your people advantages and disadvantages. Meg: Why is this room so dark. Beast: What is this dark you people speak about. We do not understand the concept of the word see. Meg: Seeing is what things are and how they seem to shape as. It is what they look like. Beast: We do not know what this word or meaning, look is and how you, people know it as. We do know what things are like though. Seeing must be a very horrible thing. Meg: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Seeing is the best thing imaginable.

Beast: Oh, boy. You must live in a very, very strange world. Please explain to me what light is. Meg: Light is Light Light is You can to really see without it. You do have a sun on this planet, do you. Beast: How very complicated this must be on your planet. Later on, explain more to me. Meg: Ok then. *Transition in attitude* Meg: Oh, God! Charles Wallace! Please help me find Charles Wallace! Beast: Of course we will, we will help you as much as we can, in order to help you find that person. He or she must be in such danger right now L Engle claims, Meg claims, But father left him! Meg said. He s got to bring him back! He can t just abandon Charles Wallace! (L Engle, 2007, p.201). Beast: No one is going to leave anybody behind, but still does not mean that anyone here is going to be able to get what they want, you know? Beast: Do not worry too much about your brother, you know better that we will never leave him in the Shadows. It s

been so long since I have had my children have grown and were gone. Meg: When will it be day time? Beast: Don t worry right now, just eat, and relax. Meg: What shall I call you? Beast: Well, call me what you want me to be called, besides all the other names that you have brought up in your family, such as your dad, or your mother. Something more different. How about Aunt Beast? Meg: Aunt Beast? (tries hard not to laugh) Aunt Beast: What s so funny about that? Meg: Nothing, Nothing, it s just that...aunt Beast is lovely! (Next Day) Aunt Beast: What a wonderful sleep you had, sweetie. How do you feel Meg: I feel wonderful! I was gonna ask you, what is this planet called?

Aunt Beast: Well, I don t know. Meg: I was also gonna ask you, are you guys fighting the Black Thing? Aunt Beast: I sure am fighting the Black Thing. Meg: Who is helping you? Aunt Beast: Oh, boy. It is so hard to explain to you. It is not only you, though. Your father and Calvin had a hard time, too. Meg: Do you know a woman by the name Mrs. Whatsit? Aunt Beast: Nope. Not a clue. Would you like me to take you to your father and Calvin now? Meg: Oh, yes. I would love to see Calvin and my father. Aunt Beast: Let us go then, shall we? They are waiting to make the plans with you. Ashton s part of the script. Meg: Father have you gotten into touch with Mrs. Whatsit yet. Mr. Murry: Not yet, Meg.

Meg: Not yet. Not yet! Charles Wallace is in danger and you haven t talked to Mrs. Whatsit. You truly do no care for your own son. Aunt Beast: Hush child. Meg: We must get help from Mrs. Whatsit. If you haven't thought of that yet, then you are just plain old stupid. L Engle states, Aunt Beast states, The child is distraught. Don t judge her harshly. She was almost taken by the Black Thing. Sometimes we can t know what spiritual damage it leaves even when physical recovery is complete. (L Engle, 2007, p. 209). Calvin: We have been trying to tell these Beasts about the Witches. We have been trying to help. Aunt Beast: Yes, child, you try. But first, tell me. Why are you being so angry right now. I do not understand. Meg: I thought you knew why I am angry. Aunt Beast: No, child, I do not. But I do want you to try to tell me about these witches. Meg: Well, Mrs. Whatsit has a man s coat and multi colored scarfs. Then there is Mrs. Who with her white robes. There is also Mrs. Witch, well she wears witchy things like a peaked hat and black gown.

Aunt Beast: Child, tell who they are, Not how they look like. *Meg tried to think about how the witches are, but she could not.* Calvin: They are like or guardian angels! Aunt Beast: Be more specific. We can not get a clear understanding of how they are. Thin Beast: How strange that you can not tell me how they are. I mean, you know them. Aunt Beast: Do not judge them. On their planet, they do not get visitors. They think they are alone in space. Thin Beast: So they are basically a lonely planet. *Then a screeching voice came.* Screeching voice: HHEELLOO. WWEE AARREE HHEERREE TTOO HHEELLPP. Scene 2: Mrs. Whatsit: We came as fast as we could. What happened. Meg: Father left Charles Wallace on Camazotz.

Mrs. Whatsit: What do you expect us to do. Meg: Do you eve care for Charles Wallace. He was left with IT. Please save him. Mrs. Whatsit: We can t do anything on Camazotz. Mr. Murry: I will try to save my son. Mrs. Witch: You do know that you will not succeed. Mr. Murry: It is worth the try. Mrs. Whatsit I shall not allow you to try to save Charles Wallace. Calvin: I ve almost got him before, let me go. L Engle states, Mrs. Whatsit states, No, Calvin. Charles has gone even deeper into IT. You will not be permitted to throw yourself with him, for that, you must realize, is what would happen (L Engle 2007, p.214). Meg: Are you just going to let him stay on Camazotz and not do anything. I can not go. Please. I can not go. *Meg has a tantrum.* Meg: Ok. I will go. I understand it has to be me. I can not be anyone else because he knows me more than anyone else.

Father only knew him as a baby and Calvin only just met him. I am the only one who can go. Mr. Murry: I shall not let my daughter go. I won t let her go into danger. We do not know what will happen. Calvin: Maybe you three are in IT s league, or maybe IT is right about you. If anyone goes, it is me, besides I am the one who, you said, must protect Meg. Mrs. Whatsit: You have already done that. Calvin: I have not done any thing. You will not send Meg. I will not approve of it. Mrs. Whatsit: You are making this harder for Meg than it already is. Aunt Beast: Does she have the strength to tesser? Mrs. Whatsit: If Meg goes with Mrs. Witch, she will have just enough strength. Aunt Beast: I could go, too. It might help. Mrs. Whatsit: You may not go with Meg. Mr. Murry: She s is only a child. Calvin: She is also kind of slow in making progress.

Meg: No. I am better than you at math. You know that as well, don t you. Mrs. Whatsit: Are you sure about going alone. Meg: No, but it does not matter right now. Mr. Murry: What if you are in league with IT and you are trying to capture Meg. Mrs. Whatsit: This mission could put you in fatal danger. It could be true, but I do not believe it is true. Calvin: Do you know what is going to happen. Mrs. Whatsit: No we do not. If we knew, we would be like the people on Camazotz. Mrs. Whatsit: Say goodby. Meg: By and thank you Aunt Beast. Sorry father by. And by Calvin. *Calvin and Meg kiss.* Allan s part of the script. Meg: I am very sorry for this father

Mr. Murry: Sorry? You don t have to be sorry. L Engle explains,...so I tried to pretend that it was all your fault...because I was scared, and I didn t want to have to do anything myself (L Engle, 2007, p. 220). Mr. Murry: The only reason why I let you, was because I want it to do it for you, which is what every parent wants. I am not going to leave you go on your own, I m coming with. Mrs. Whatsit: No! You must give her the privilege to let her go, it was her decision, and if she gets into a problem, then she will know how to get out of it. You are a very smart person, Mr. Murry, but you must let her go. Mr. Murry: We ll try our best to have courage in you, Meg. Don t let fear overcome you. Mrs. Whatsit: The Black thing...is a very dangerous thing to play with. When your father tessered me through it, it almost got me. Your father thinks that the Black Thing is a toy to play with, and we will not let the Black thing get you. Meg: What if I am not able to get Charles Wallace from IT? What if IT, captures me instead? What if- Mrs. Whatsit: Enough! We gave you gifts the last time we took you to Camazotz, although this time, the only thing we CAN give you, is love.

Mr. Murry: NNNNOOOOO!!!! *Meg, and Mrs. Which Tessering to Camazotz* Mrs. Which: I will give you something that IT doesn t have, a power that can overcome IT, but you have to find it yourself, Meg. Meg: There it is! The building of where IT lay...what DO i have that IT doesn t? IT, here I come! *In IT s teritory* Meg (Thinks): What do I have that it doesn t? L Engle, states, You Have nothing that IT hasn t got (L Engle, 2007, p. 227) Meg: NO! You are a lier! Lier, lier, lier, lier! Wait, is that what I have that IT doesn t? Charles Wallace: Oh, stop thinking that you can overcome IT, because you CAN T! Meg: You re lying! You re also lying about Mrs. Whatsit! Charles Wallace: I am not lying, Mrs. Whatsit doesn t love you!

Meg: Mrs. Whatsit loves me, she even told me it herself! (thinking): AHA! That s what IT doesn t have! Love. Meg: Charles, I love you, I miss you CHarles please come back to me! Charles, I love you as my brother, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you! Charles, I really love you, please come back to me, Charles! Charles: Meg? Oh, Meg, you saved me, Meg! Thank you Meg! *Charles and Meg Hug* *Return Back to Earth* Mr. Murry: Meg! Meg: Dad, Calvin, Where are we? Mr. Murry: We are in the twins garden, and we landed right on top of the broccoli! Calvin: Meg, you saved Charles Wallace! You did it Meg, you really did it! Mr. Murry: I am very proud of you Meg, for saving Charles Wallace! Meg: Hey look, I can see the house from here! *Mr. Murry walking them toward the house on the wet grass*
