The Mission of Hebron UMC is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The Chimes of The Hebron United Methodist Church These past four weeks have been such a meaningful time in the life of our congregation. We have explored how we can manage our financial resources and truly experience simplicity, generosity, and joy. And we have responded to all that we have learned by setting personal goals and making commitments. On the previous two Sundays, we have consecrated our commitments of giving for God s work through our church. If you have already made your estimate of giving, thank you. If you have not yet had an opportunity to do so, it s not too late. Simply drop your Estimate of Giving Commitment Card in the mail, bring it by the church office, or put it the offering plate during any worship service. If you need another card, extras will be available on Sunday. We are grateful for your financial support of our church. Your giving in the coming year will make a difference in the lives of children, youth, and adults in our church, as well as in the lives of people everywhere we are in mission and ministry in the world. I am blessed to be the Pastor of such a caring and giving church. Pastor Pete Office Hours: 9:00-3:00 weekdays Phone: (219) 996-7161 E-mail: hebumc@netnitco.net Web site: www.hebronumc.org Page 1 November 2018

Pastor Ponderings Over the last couple of months, there have been two concerns that multiple people have approached me about. They may seem minor at first appearance, but when I begin to see how they effect some people from experiencing the same worship service as anyone else, those concerns become more important to deal with. The first one is the ability to hear the prayer concerns when they are lifted up from the congregation without the benefit of one using a microphone. Please remember that we video tape our worship service and upload that recording to our web site for anyone to listen to. When those concerns are lifted up from someone sitting in the pews, not only do we have some members in the congregation who cannot hear them, but those listening to the recording also cannot hear them. So we will emphasize at the beginning of our worship service that if you have a prayer concern that you want lifted up, please fill out a blue prayer concern card available to you. The second concern is similar in nature and that is the making of announcements at the beginning of worship. Again, the problem is when people want to stay in the pews and make their general announcement to the congregation without using a microphone. The result is that it we are not able to pick up that announcement on the video recording and there are some members of the congregation who do not hear or completely understand what the announcement was all about. I am instructing all Liturgists not to ask are there any additional announcements at this time. If you have an important announcement for the congregation, please get it to the church office by Friday noon so that we can prepare an appropriate announcement page for the liturgist to read. That will require some preparation on your part, so that the communication to the congregation continues. If you have any questions on either of these two changes, please talk to me. Blessings Pastor Pete It s hard to believe that it is already November, a time to be thankful, a time to remember and embrace those who enrich our lives. Lora and I want to thank everyone of you for all that you have done for us. You have welcomed us with open arms and loving hearts. You have showered us with cards and with words of encouragement during Pastor appreciation month. Hebron United Methodist Church is more than just a place where we do ministry. It is home for us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Pete & Lora Page 2 November 2018
