Our St. Bernard School is part of our city-wide Catholic school network. This pooling of resources between all our parishes has the hope of raising quality all around and lowering cost. That is always our goal. Consider supporting this good cause. There will not be a second collection today, rather just information on how to give if you choose. The About GRACE portion of the GRACE website has this to say: A whole new learning for a whole new world. At GRACE we grew from the traditions of Catholic education and created a forward-thinking, high-tech, high-achieving, faith-based school system whose primary focus is individualized learning. Through strong parenting, your child inherited kindness, faith, curiosity and ambition. Through GRACE, we want to let these qualities flourish in the likeness of Jesus and ignite a passion to excel. While each of our schools is unique in its personality and curricular focus, we all share in the benefits of a GRACE education. Every GRACE school is fully accredited. Individualized Learning instilling character and confidence in your child. Shared training and resources collaborating for a strong network of learning. Faith-based values that teach mutual respect resulting in fewer bullying issues. Focus on academic excellence striving for the success of every student. Strong parent involvement partnering with GRACE schools to support your child. Spiritual nurturing of the mind and body educating the whole person. Technologically pioneering providing students with the latest tools for learning. Catholic values and a true dedication to nurturing the gifts of every child are at the heart of a GRACE education. In a world where so many things seem beyond our control, the GRACE schools help our children make sense out of the complex world around them and reinforce the foundation parents are laying at home. The sense of family extends to each GRACE school where there are high expectations for learning, individual responsibility and personal character. GRACE s integration of faith, academics and morals allows grade school children to make sense of the world around them as we develop the next generation of leaders. At GRACE, the safety of your child is of the utmost importance that s why each school has emergency response policies and security protocol to keep each school a safe environment for learning. In addition, we mandate VIR- TUS training- a safe environment program for every employee, clergy and volunteer to protect our students from physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Have a look at GRACE and pray and consider whether our schools might be a great fit for you! Fr. Mark Vander STeeg

September 15 & 16, 2018 PAGE 3 The 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. (MARK 8:34) When we truly believe that all we have is a gift from God, then we must be willing to give up some things so that we can share our blessings as God intended. Living a stewardship lifestyle means not only being responsible for our own life, but the lives of others as well. St. Bernard School Crystal Blahnik -Principal The Week Ahead: September 19 Happy feast of St. Januarias! An interesting thing happens every year on St. Januarius feast day. Chronicled since the 14 th century, a vial of his dried blood liquifies on Sept. 19.and re-dries throughout the week. It also liquifies on special occasions such as papal visits. Check it out! Grade 1: Who is God? A Look at the Trinity Grade 2: God Calls Us to Love Him Above All Else Grade 3: The Incarnation Jesus Is True God and True Man Grade 4: God Is Good Grade 5: The Sacraments Are Signs of Grace Children s Homily @ Masses: Fr.
