For those youth and adults who are attending the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. PRAYER CHAIN Prayer is a powerful gift that is always available for us to use. Candidate Joel Haak will be ordained into the Holy Ministry and installed as Associate Pastor for Family Life at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester on Sunday, July 11, beginning at 4 pm. CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS for the second quarter (April, May, June) are available for pick up on the counter in the narthex. REFRESHMENTS on Sunday are being provided by the Redeemer Quilters. Proceeds are designated for April Beckman s education expenses. VBS is Blessed by Great a Numerous Volunteers! VBS Kicks off this Sunday (July 11) with food, pre-registration and time to look around from 6 to 7 pm! Then Monday morning VBS Zip, Zap, Zooms at 9am! We have a ton of great helpers ready to share the love of Jesus with the Children attending VBS. Please keep the helpers and kids in your prayers!!! This fine group (many of which will be working with VBS before they go) will leave Wednesday evening, July 14. They will make their way by bus to New Orleans, Louisiana. Before the gathering the group will experience the culture of New Orleans by exploring swamp, river, and city streets in the NO area. Then starting on July 17 they will participate in the National Youth Gathering with tens of thousands of other Lutheran youth! On our return we will stop off in Sikeston, MO for a two day servant event. This is a once in a lifetime event and we thank Redeemer for all your support, and we ask for intense prayer support while we are on our journey! Ladies Book Club The next Book Club is set for Thursday, 8/19 at 7:00PM at Barb Sass's home (directions follow). As the feedback from the last meeting was that the Seasons of Grace series by Beverly Lewis proved to be a fun summer read, we have decided to read the last two books in the three-book series. So, for the next meeting, we will be reading both The Missing and The Telling. Enjoy the next couple months! WAFFLE BREAKFAST NEWS Silent Auction items needed for the Waffle Breakfast on August 1st. The Quilters and Youth are cosponsoring this event and need items to sell. In the past we have had gift cards, theme baskets, new items that you can't or won't use, plants, baked goods, craft items, and used items such as videos, games, and like-new toys. Mayo Clinic Child Car-Seat Safety Program The Mayo Clinic Child Passenger Safety Clinics are conducted at Fire Station No. 4, 1875 41st Street NW, Rochester, MN by Mayo Clinic Employees who have been trained and certified as Child Passenger Safety Inspectors. Rochester Fire Department provides space within the fire station for the inspections to be conducted out of the weather. Child Car Seat Safety inspections are held once a month at dates and times listed at RochesterMN.gov. Trained & Certified personnel will instruct you on proper child safety seat installation. SCIENCE TEACHER NEEDED! RCLS is looking for a 6-8th grade Science Teacher for 2010-2011 school year. Must possess a strong command of Science curriculum within a Lutheran setting, teacher experience (teaching credentials), and an understanding of ministry within a Lutheran School. Those interested are encouraged to submit a letter of interest, resume, credentials including transcripts and three references to Rochester Central Lutheran School (2619 9th Ave NW, Rochester, MN, 55901) or emailed to mofinley@rcls.net. HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE - A second informational meeting will be held on Thursday, August 5, at 7 pm in the North Fellowship Hall. Youth Waffle Breakfast August 1 The youth are teaming up with the Quilters to put on a waffle breakfast! All Youth Gathering youth should be there for sharing that Sunday. August 8-13 Please pray for the youth that are going on this amazing week of BETHESDA There is still time for you to sign up to attend the Bethesda Servant Event. There are only three (3) spots open as of today. The cost is $50. The servant event is the week of August 8-13. So, if you are at all interested in attending, please contact Lynora Miller as soon as possible. If you are not sure about this, talk to some of the youth who have gone in the past. This is open for all youth 13 years old and up. It is a busy week, but it is also fun and very rewarding.
