COLLINGSWOOD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SERVICE FOR THE LORD S DAY June 11, 2017 Trinity Sunday ASSEMBLE IN GOD S NAME Morning Reflection Triune God, known to us in more ways than we can count, we marvel at the mystery of life, and wonder at your attention to our lives. As we ponder the vast expanse of space, we are fascinated by distances too extensive to understand. The times we have measured are a tiny ripple in your eternity. Yet you have honored this planet by revealing yourself in the life and ministry of Jesus and the empowerment of your Holy Spirit. Let us experience your presence in this time of worship. Amen. Prelude Welcome and Announcements We welcome you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ! Please sign the guest book in the narthex so we can send you a welcome packet or fill out a yellow welcome card located in the pews. The card can be placed in the offering place. Gathering of Prayer Concerns and Joys Please raise your hand to share your joys or concerns to be included in the prayers of the people this day. You may also write your concern on the pink sheets and hand to the Pastor. Please mail a prayer card from the narthex to your loved one. Centering Music Spirit of the Living God GTG #288 (Please stand for items marked with an asterisk. GTG is the purple Glory to God hymnal. STF is the Sing the Faith smaller blue hymnal)

Call to Worship Leader: How majestic is God s name in all the earth! We see God s glory in the expanse of the heavens. People: All plants and animals are God s creation. All that God has made reflects God s goodness. Leader: We are created in God s image, to relate to God. We receive great abundance and care from our Creator. People: God blesses us day by day with good things. We are given dominion over the works of God. Leader: Gather to praise God and greet one another. Celebrate all the ways God is revealed to us. People: We worship the Creator and Sustainer of all things. We rejoice in Christ s promise of the Holy Spirit *Hymn - For the Beauty of the Earth GTG #14 tune - Dix *Prayer of Confession (unison) Amazing God, the more we learn of your creation, the more we are filled with awe and wonder. Yet, our vision narrows to our limited concerns, and we forget the immense reaches of the stewardship to which you appoint us. We have not taken good care of this tiny spaceship, Earth, which is our home. We have not cared well for one another as sisters and brothers. Our doubts outweigh our obedience O God, help us fulfill our baptism and claim our discipleship, as forgiven and forgiving sinners. Amen. *Assurance of Forgiveness Leader: We are created in the image of God and are blessed with the capacity to reflect God s will in our daily lives. People: God cares for us and invests us with responsibility. Leader: Thus God honors us with high expectations and confidence in our willingness to seek out life s best for all people. People: We are loved. We are forgiven. Our baptism is renewed.

*Congregational Response - STF #2193 (sing twice) Lord, listen to your children praying, Lord, send your Spirit in this place; Lord, listen to your children praying, send us love, send us power, send us grace. *Sharing of the Peace Leader: The peace of Christ be with you. People: And also with you. PROCLAIM GOD S WORD Children s Call - Come All Ye Children All children are invited to come play drums during the song Old Testament Scripture - Genesis 1:1-2:4(a) (pages 1-2) Children s Sermon (Children in Pre-K and up will follow Mrs. Kolecki out for Sunday School and can be picked up in Calvin Hall) Anthem - Gymnopedie #1 Eric Satie arr. Lourie Wright Memorial Handbell Quartet *Hymn - There s a Sweet, Sweet Spirit GTG #408 tune - Sweet, Sweet Spirit New Testament Lesson - 2 Corinthians 13:5-14 (page 1058) Sermon - Lessons from the Garden Rev. Katie Mulligan

RESPONSE TO THE WORD Offering What will we return to God for all the bounty of the universe we have been given to enjoy? We cannot count the blessings of life which God supplies to us. The mandate of Christ is clear: God and make disciples of all nations. That means we must, first of all, accept our own discipleship in wholehearted obedience and self-giving service. God expects no less than all we have and all we are. Musical Meditation - Instrumental Doxology - Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow GTG #609 tune - Lasst Uns Erfruen *Prayer of Dedication Praise God, from whom all blessing flow. Praise God, all creatures high and low. Alleluia, alleluia! Praise God, in Jesus fully known: Creator, Word, and Spirit One Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia Prayers of the People Leader: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Leader: Prayers of thanksgiving, intercession, petition

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. GO IN GOD S NAME *Hymn - Spirit of God STF #2117 tune - Dove Song *Benediction Choral Benediction *Postlude Go Forward and Serve!
