Dear Beauceant Sisters, Greetings to all my Sisters of LA 42!! February was not a month that we had expected it to be, although we have somewhat accomplished what we have to do. A couple of important positions in office were vacant but we were able to fill in with the help of our sisters who are always willing to help whatever it takes. March will be another busy month and hopefully this time we would be able to have a complete set of officers to participate in our meetings. I would like to ask all the sisters to continue praying for our sisters who are still sick so they will get well soon and join us. In our coming April meeting, we will be preparing for the Official Visit of our Supreme Worthy President- Mrs. Thomas Derby, we will focused on practicing our rituals and floor work to hopefully be confident and comfortable to do well on our initiation ceremony. For all the birthday celebrants for the month of March, we wish you a "Very Happy Birthday and wish you have many more birthdays to come". Mrs. Charles Trullinger -Mar 6 Mrs. Bruce Ewald -Mar 21. A lot of excitement, fun, and fellowship abounds this month. Saint Patrick was a 5th-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Much of what is known about Saint Patrick comes from the Declaration, which was allegedly written by Patrick himself. It is believed that he was born in Roman Britain in the fourth century, into a wealthy Romano-British family. His father was

a deacon and his grandfather was a priest in the Christian church. According to the Declaration, at the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Gaelic Ireland. It says that he spent six years there working as a shepherd and that during this time he "found God." The Declaration says that God told Patrick to flee to the coast, where a ship would be waiting to take him home. After making his way home, Patrick went on to become a priest. According to legend, Saint Patrick used the three-leaved shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to Irish pagans. According to tradition, Patrick returned to Ireland to convert the pagan Irish to Christianity. The Declaration says that he spent many years evangelizing in the northern half of Ireland and converted "thousands." Patrick's efforts to convert, subjugate, and drive off the Pagans (specifically the Celts) were eventually turned into an allegory in which he drove "snakes" out of Ireland (Ireland never had any snakes). Tradition holds that he died on March 17th and was buried at Downpatrick. Over the following centuries, many legends grew up around Patrick and he became Ireland's foremost saint. On March 17th of each year, we celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. I have tickets for the Masonic Service Bureau Breakfast honoring the Grand Master, to be held on March 6, 8:00am, at the LAX Hilton. The tickets are free for anyone who wears a red Royal Arch coat, black pants, white shirt, and black or RAM tie, and helps pass out applications to our Order. If anyone wants to carpool, you should meet and Van Nuys Lodge parking lot at 6:30am-ish to ensure arrival time and parking at the event is not an issue. A reminder that we have our Spring Degree Festival this month - the Royal Arch Degrees are on March 19th at 8:00am. Please be sure to invite your Lodge Brothers to seek further light in their York Rite Masonic journey. Candidates should arrive at 7:30am for registration and continental breakfast; cast members should arrive early, as well; and Royal Arch Masons (that's you) are encourage to attend to support our new Companions, our Chapter, and our York Rite Bodies. The Cryptic Mason Degrees will be on Monday, March 28, at 6:30pm (dinner, degrees follow), and the Knights Templar Orders will be on Saturday, April 9, at 8:00am (7:30am for registration and continental breakfast). Contact our Degree Coordinator, EC Bruce Hudson, for a part in the degrees and Orders. See you there. S&F, EC David Williams High Priest - 2016 2016 Officers High Priest David Jody Williams (Nataly)

Companions, Ladies, and Friends It is already close to the end of the first quarter, and as we await the spring, I wanted to confirm with all of you that we will be having our "PIM Night" at the June Stated Assembly on June 27th. I have filled all of the positions for that evening, EXCEPT for the main one. I am still in need of an Illustrious Master. So if any PIM's would be interested in filling that station, please let me know soon. Also, remember that this month will be our Chapter Degrees (which of course is necessary to join our Council) so please make your announcements in your Blue Lodges or wherever you might be traveling as many of you are very involved in several Masonic bodies and serve in many capacities. The Chapter degrees are March 19th followed by Council degrees March 28th and ending with Commandry degrees April 9th. Let's get the word out. Also, something that we don't usually stress upon that I feel is equally as important is member retention. If you know Companions who are already members of our York Rite who you know are not active, please reach out to them and try to get them reengaged. They joined for a reason and sometimes they just need reminding of what that reason was. We have hundreds of members we do not see regularly, and this is unfortunate being the power house that we are. We can easily fill up a Chapter room and run out of room in the Council. Talk to your Companions and invite them out. IfMonday seems to be the issue, then let them know about the Social Events we have among the three bodies that do not take place on Mondays. We always focus on getting new members but do little to retain the ones we have. Let us all make a conscious effort to reach out to our own Companions. Thank you for all your efforts and I hope to see many familiar faces in the upcoming meetings. S&F, Eric Bertolli Illustrious Master
