33RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 19, 2017 A Note from Father Tom We ve all had that feeling you walk away from a job well done, great or small. It might have been helping a youngster put together a birdhouse for the back yard, or it might have been giving a well used room a much needed facelift. Then there s the feeling when you have made that same measure of effort but the benefit will be felt by someone else. It might be the very short-term benefit of having helped someone move groceries from the cart to the back of their vehicle, or something more long-term in nature, like adding your gifts and talents to a team doing community cleanup, home-rehab for someone who is disabled, or spent time volunteering in a setting that serves the very young, the frail elderly, patients and families in a hospital, or veterans in need of some measure and manner of care. Knights of Columbus St. Peters Parish Round Table The Knights of Columbus recently started a council round table for St Peter's Parish. The goal of the round table is to build a stronger connection between the Knights of our Mumford Council and the parish community, by providing more support for parish events. Any Knight looking to be involved with the round table or if there are questions about the round table feel free to contact Devin Graham. Email: dgraham619@gmail.com Phone: (508) 736-5326 The council is also happy to announce the donation the Family Faith Alive booklets to St Peters. Whoever remains in me bears much fruit. John 15: 5 There are countless people of good will who set about the task of meeting challenges, in their own lives, and in the community around them. The good accomplished is listed in articles and on plaques whose number I don t know. But both the invitation and the promise from God concern more than that. Yes, we do recognize and thank wonderful people in our lives for all of the good and generous things that they do. And, yes, their accomplishments encourage us to do something, or to do more. But, the invitation and the promise from God come with a measure of grace to enable us to not only address the needs of this world by what we do. That grace imbues our choices and our actions with the power to proclaim the Kingdom of God, to crown the wonder of human labor and sacrifice with the power to reveal what God has chosen to do, what God does, and what God will do! As we gather around the tables where turkeys are carved this week, we thank God for the gift of having shared in truly divine work another year. We thank God for each other, God s ingenious choice for saying I am with you Fr. Tom How about a Cursillo weekend? Cursillo or "short course in Christianity" is an uplifting and educational experience. Cursillo was brought from Spain to the United States in 1962. The weekend is facilitated by a team of laypeople and clergy who deliver organized talks and discussions. What the presenters add to the talks is the witness of their own lives, their struggles and triumphs in Christ. The weekend is full of laughter, prayer, great music, wonderful meals and so much more. Our upcoming 2018 Men s - February 22-25. All weekends will be held at the Immaculate Conception Spiritual Renewal Center in Putnam, CT. For additional information, please contact Sue Leighton at 508-278- 3155 or sleighton1958@gmail.com OR Joan Laracy at 774-239-2474 or joanlaracy@yahoo.com There are women from our parish who have attended in the past and women who plan to attend in February if you d like to join them. Call the religious education office for information.

We are taking the next Loreto Gathering Day on the road! We will be going across the street to the Rockdale House to sing Christmas songs, make crafts and have cookies and juice with the residents. The children received their song booklets last week and will be practicing the songs they will be singing with their families. If your child was not at the last Gathering Day, please contact Patty for your child s song booklet. Christmas pageant rehearsals will be held in the church this week @ 10:00. We will just be reading through the script and beginning to plan the motion and timing. Any questions, please contact Patty First Reconciliation There will be a class this Sunday morning at 9:30am in the sacrament room at the parish center. Life Teen This Sunday we are planning a night off campus. We originally had planned on attending a concert in Westborough but have decided to go to the Illuminate in Charlton instead. The kids will meet at the parish center at 4pm on Sunday the 19th in order to make it to Charlton before 5pm for the celebration of the Mass. At our Edge night this past week we celebrated a night of thanksgiving. The kids all dressed up and we had a meal together. We played a game of pin the light on Rescue. We finished off our night with a prayer for gentleness and kindness. We will not have an edge night next Tuesday as we will be planning the next few edge nights. Planning begins at 6:30pm in the youth room if anyone would like to join us.
