God is a spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23,24) FEBRUARY PREACHING SERIES: TRUE WORSHIPERS God isn t seeking public speakers, charismatic leaders, the best-looking people or those with the most Facebook or Instagram followers. God is seeking true worshipers. When s the last time you ve been stunned and shaken by the presence of God? What we worship shows what we value. God desires for worship to be the focal point and passion of our daily lives. God wants us to be free in our worship expressions as we respond to His revelation. Jesus makes it very clear, God wants us to the True Worshipers of Him! This month we will discover what a true worshiper of God looks like, what it means to truly experience God in and through worship, how we are to approach God, and what happens when we truly worship. I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things. But he said to me, Do not do that. I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets and of those who heed the words of this book. Worship God. Revelation 22:9 Hear the Command Our theme scripture for this series is not Revelation 22:9, but we need to hear the simple command, Worship God! The angel said to John, when he fell down at the angel s feet, Do not do that. I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets and of those who heed the words of this book. Worship God. In other words, don t worship angels, worship God! Don t worship nothing, worship God! Don t neglect God or despise God, worship God! This is the last chapter of the Bible, and this is the last duty of man: worship God! Worship is what we were created for. This is the final end of all existence: the worship of God. God created the universe so that it would display the worth of his glory. And he created us so that we would see this glory and reflect it by knowing and loving it with all our heart and soul and mind and strength. Worship is not a Sunday, hour or so event! During the month of February, we are going to rebuild a common vision of what worship is and what we are gathering to do on Sunday morning, and scattering to do on Monday morning. What is it? Why do we do it? How do we do it? Those are the questions for the next several weeks, and I think you are going to be surprised what we find in the Bible, which is where we will be looking for answers. I want to be a true worshiper! I want to worship God as God wants me to worship Him. I pray that so do you and all of Shiloh! Worship not be in worship Worship every Sunday this month as we learn to be true worshipers.

SHILOH 101 Is Where Membership Begins At Shiloh GETTING STARTED: CONNECT TO SHILOH Pastor Undra Parker and The Membership Leadership Team are so excited about our first membership 101 class for 2018. You are invited! If you are new to Shiloh, if you have never attended Shiloh 101, if you want to refresh your knowledge about our church family you are invited. Find out what it means to belong to our church family. You were designed to be part of a church family, and that's exactly what Shiloh is intended to be your family! A healthy family has common beliefs, purposes, and commitment. That's why we want to share with you what we believe and where we're going. You will learn how to get connected and about the foundational beliefs, practices, and ministries of Shiloh. The class is a relaxed, informative gathering for those who want to learn more about our church. Dress is casual and lunch will be served. SHILOH 101 is helpful for new visitors to our church, as well as those who have been visiting a while. If you are considering becoming a member, we invite you to Shiloh 101. You will get to meet the pastor and leadership team and learn what it means to be a member. Attending this class is a requirement for membership, but there is no obligation or pressure to join if you come. At the end of the class, you will have an opportunity to join our church family. Wednesday Night Life is what we call our mid-week evening of fellowship and discipleship for every member of the family. Adults can choose to attend a class. Students meet for worship and teaching. Children and preschoolers learn songs and Bible lessons. Most classes are one hour and begin at 7:00 PM. Children's and students activities generally start at 6:30pm. Don't forget dinner! Everyone is invited to our Fellowship Meal. Each week we provide an affordable meal before our classes begin. Come to the Gym between 5:00-6:15pm. We would love to meet you. Student worship for middle school students includes music, games, videos, group discussion and relevant teaching from the Bible. Parents are welcome to come and participate. High School worship is a time for students to connect with others and with God. The music, teaching and environment are created with teenagers in mind. The Student Center 1677 Juneau St. The Student Center at Juneau St. will reopen this Spring the actual date will be announced later. It is a great place to hang out before and after worship. We have video game, ping pong, and it's a place to hang out and meet up with friends. Children s KONNECT Children s Center Downstairs Preschool (ages birth to five) 6:30 8:30 pm Birth - Age 3 Childcare provided with additional mission and music activities for 2 and 3 year olds. (Nursery) Preschool - ages 4, PreK, and K Children participate in music for the first half of the evening and then move to Hands On. (Preschool Room) Elementary Children (grades 1-5) 6:30 8:30 pm Kids will Mix it Up because worshipping God and sharing our faith go together! A high energy Worship Rally time is followed by a combined choir rehearsal for 1st 5th graders with activities, instruments and songs. Kids then move to Bible Learning where the learn about Jesus through fun, hands-on activities.

Struggles with frustration, anger, and uncertainty weight us down when trials strange and surprising land at our feet. All too often in these trying times of our lives, confusion reigns while contentment fades; questions arise while prayer dwindles. Peter s encouragement to all Disciples of Christ is one of perseverance and persistence in faith. It s not enough for us to simply get up every morning and trudge through each day; neither is it wise to paste a smile on our faces and ignore problems. Instead, the words of 1 Peter are to prove the genuineness of our faith that results in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. This study challenges us to live holy lives motivated by love. Wednesday Night Life is a call to you to growth deeper in the Word of God in 2018. Make Wednesday Night Life a priority for you and your family! WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIFE SPRING TERM: MARCH-MAY 7:00 PM Experiencing God to Do His Will I DESERVE... How different would the world look if everyone got what they deserved?? Jesus words, Blessed are the merciful for they shall receive mercy doesn t seem like much. When we have messed up completely it doesn t seem like we deserve or can receive God s mercy, but we need it. As we journey to Easter: Resurrection Sunday, this Bible Study will help us understand four things we actually deserve March 7 March 14 March 21 March 28 Death _ Life Condemnation _ Mercy Rejection _ Acceptance To Be Counted Out _ Another Chance SHILOH ON THE GROW! The Bible is all about Jesus, because all of life exists for Him. You can know Him as you experience Him at work through your life. Experiencing God to Do His Will is a 9- week Bible study that takes us through some essential biblical principles and practices that will help us cultivate a loving and lasting personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through examination of Scripture and current illustrations, we can understand and apply seven realities of experiencing God to do His will.. SHILOH ON THE GROW!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PRAYER 6:30 PM If you re praying for a breakthrough and not seeing it, do not give up. Opposition precedes breakthroughs. Opposition always precedes strategic breakthroughs. Don t lose heart. There s a breakthrough ahead. Praying for a Breakthrough The consistent pattern throughout the Bible is that every significant move of God is preceded by a season of increasingly difficult, discouraging opposition. And if we take Ephesians 6, Daniel 10, and other warfare texts seriously, we can understand why: God is invading what Satan considers his territory. God s kingdom is breaking through the lines of the domain of darkness (Colossians 1:13) If we are not encountering opposition, it s likely we are not attacking a strategic location. But if we are, we are on to something. Where the enemy is fortifying his forces is where we must focus our assault. And where the enemy is fortified, there is going to be a fierce fight if we are going to achieve a breakthrough. We are going to receive volleys of flaming darts (Ephesians 6:16). We are going to be attacked on the rear. There will be spies in the camp. There will be jeering and intimidation and accusations. There will be efforts to destroy our morale and determination Prayer 2018: A Call for Breakthrough Determination! We are beginning 2018 with a Call for Breakthrough Determination! So this is a call for holy determination. Keep praying and don t lose heart (Luke 18:1). Just like in any large-scale war, there are many battles. Some breakthroughs are achieved relatively quickly; others require long, persevering endurance. But either way, breakthroughs require a determination to keep up the assault. Usually breakthroughs are not achieved by prayer alone there are works to be done and courage to be exercised. But real spiritual breakthroughs are not achieved at all without prayer. Concentrated, specific, persistent, prevailing prayer, often engaged in by two or more (Matthew 18:19), is needed to weaken our spiritual opposition. And fasting is a wonderful help. Fasting tests where the heart is. And when it reveals that the heart is with God and not the world, a mighty blow is struck against Satan So if you re praying for a breakthrough and not seeing it, and in fact experiencing more temptations, discouragement, frustration, weariness, doubt, and cynicism than before, do not give up. Increasingly intense fighting always precedes strategic breakthroughs. Strategic ground is not yielded easily. You re up against more than you know. But he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). He has overcome the world (John 16:33) and he will give you justice (Luke 18:8). Don t lose heart. Join us in prayer on Wednesday Night. Grow determined, confident, persistent. There s a breakthrough ahead. The Family: Together in God s Presence Children should catch the spirit of their parents meeting the living God. CATCH THE SPIRIT At Shiloh children worship with their families on the fourth Sunday of each month. They also worship with their families each fifth Sunday in the quarter and on special days such as Easter, Mother s and Father s Day, etc. The Nursery is open for infants thru 4 years old every Sunday. PREPARE YOUR CHILDREN AND HELP YOUR CHILDREN TO WORSHIP Worship is the most valuable thing a human can do. Children should see how Mom and Dad bow their heads in earnest prayer during the prelude and other non-directed times. They should see how Mom and Dad sing praise to God with joy in their faces, and how they listen hungrily to His word. They should catch the spirit of their parents meeting the living God. Parents should be jealous to model for their children the tremendous value they put on reverence in the presence of Almighty God. NOT AN EXCESSIVE EXPECTATION To sit still and be quiet for an hour or two on Sunday is not an excessive expectation for a healthy 5- year-old who has been taught to obey his parents. It requires a measure of discipline, but that is precisely what we want to encourage parents to impart to their children in the first five years. Thus the desire to have children in the worship service is part of a broader concern that children be reared so that they are submissive and respectful (1 Timothy 3:4). Children can be taught in the first five years of life to obey their father and mother when they say, Sit still and be quiet. Parents helplessness to control their children should not be solved by alternative services but by a renewal of discipline in the home. NOT EVERYTHING GOES OVER THEIR HEADS Children absorb a tremendous amount that is of value. And this is true even if they say they are bored. Music and words become familiar. The message of the music starts to sink in. The form of the service comes to feel natural. The choir makes a special impression with a kind of music the children may hear at no other time. Even if most of the sermon goes over their heads, experience shows that children hear and remember remarkable things. The content of the prayers and songs and sermon gives parents unparalleled opportunities to teach their children the great truths of our faith. If parents would only learn to query their children after the service and then explain things, the children s capacity to participate would soar. Sunday worship service is not useless to children just because much of it goes over their heads. They can and will grow into this new language faster than we think if positive and happy attitudes are fostered by the parents. SENSE OF AWE There is a sense of solemnity and awe which children should experience in the presence of God. This is not likely to happen in children s church. Is there such a thing as children s thunder or children s lightning or the crashing of the sea for children? A deep sense of the unknown and the mysterious can rise in the soul of a sensitive child in solemn worship if his parents are going hard after God themselves. A deep moving of the magnificence of God can come to the young, tender heart through certain moments of great hymns or loud silence or authoritative preaching. These are of immeasurable value in the cultivation of a heart that fears and loves God. This ministry will provide childcare for children 6 months to 4 years old when their older siblings are worshipping with their families on Family Sunday and other special days.

ANGELIC VOICES OF SHILOH CHILDREN S CHOIR Children age 5 years thru 5th Grades Praise & Worship Sundays@11:00 am Wednesdays@6:45 pm Choir Rehearsals 2nd & 4th Fridays 7:00 pm Children learn to sing praises to God on Sundays and Wednesdays. This helps prepare them for singing in the children s choir. Choir rehearsals are on the 2nd and 4th Fridays at 7:00 pm. After choir rehearsal, children will enjoy a time of fellowship, fun, and food KIDS KON- NECTION. Parents can enjoy an evening for themselves. Doors are opened at 6:30 pm and children must be picked up by 9:00 pm. Children s choir is one of the disciplines we use to help children learn how to honor and worship our awesome God. THE CHILDREN S CHOIR WILL SING ON 4TH SUNDAYS AND AS SCHEDULED FOR SPECIAL DAYS. Kids Konnection provides a safe and fun time for the children of parents who are serving on Friday nights in choir rehearsals and other ministries and for parents who just want to have an evening for themselves. The first hour of Kids Konnection is The Angelic Voices of Shiloh Children s Choir Rehearsal. Senior life and issues are featured and discussed Medicare, Blood Pressure Screening, Finances for Seniors, are a few of the senior life issues featured some monthly others as scheduled. There are celebrations of special days and events. February 21 is the Seniors annual Black History Celebration. Pastor Emeritus, Reverend Dr. Alonzo B. Patterson, will lead in a Journey of Importance one of knowing and honoring the past, so that a just future can be shaped. He will be joined by all of the seniors who will journey with him into a heritage worthy of celebration. You don t want to miss this celebration it is for everyone.
