Connect Church If you are visiting with us for the first time, WELCOME! We are glad it was your choice to worship Christ with us today. We hope this time of praise and the study of God s Word will be an encouragement for you. Please join us between services for refreshments and fellowship. Does the uncertainty and chaos of life keep you up at night? Is irrational worry your constant companion? Could you use some calm? If the answer is yes, you are not alone. Anxious for Nothing, the most recent book from New York Times bestselling author, Max Lucado, provides a roadmap to escape anxiety. Special order your copy from the Resource Center today. I love this church because my friends have become family here. I serve Jesus with you by serving on the worship team.

Contact the church office for more details or visit our website.

Make plans now to attend this conference which will both inspire and challenge us as parents, grandparents, or simply Church Life concerned adults who desire to influence children and youth for God. What will the next generation look like? That all depends upon how much we will invest in their future. If you want God involved in your finances, you need to put your finances to work for God s interests. And that means you need to give. You can start...with what He s already given you. That might mean a percentage of your next paycheck. It might mean a part of your net worth. Wherever the voice of generosity leads you, you need to follow it, in spite of the fear you may feel. Your financial fears aren t going away until you act. You can face them alone using your best instincts and wisdom. Or you can embrace, once and for all, the counterintuitive logic of the God who controls everything. Do you want God involved in your finances? Do you want His guarantee that you ll have something to eat and drink, and clothes to wear? Then you need to focus on His agenda. And financially, that means answering the call to sow generously into His kingdom. Jesus words are difficult. They re a stumbling block for human logic. How can giving result in my needs being met?...you ll never know until you try. From Fields of Gold Thinking about joining Connect Church, being baptized, or just want to find out more about the ministries and mission? Please join us for the next Church Orientation session on October 1st. Royal Palm campus - 11:00 AM in the Coffee Shop Acreage campus - 11:00 AM in the Choral Room. God s Word - Time With God Today s SOAP - from Pastor Jimmy Maltese Scripture: Exodus 14:13-28 Observation: Moses is empowered to lead the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt and away from capture of Pharaoh s army. Moses is commanded to bring the Israelites through the Red Sea and into the wilderness. God shows His power by stopping Pharaoh s army from catching up with the Israelites, parting the Red Sea so the Israelites may pass through, and sending the Egyptian army into a state of confusion while the waters of the parted sea returned to destroy them. The Lord is glorified in this act of authority over the sea and His protection and deliverance of the Israelites. Application: But Moses said to the people, Don t be afraid. Stand firm and see the Lord s salvation He will provide for your today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you must be quiet. Exodus 14:13-14 Seeing the fearfulness and the uncertainty that filled the Israelites reminds me of the daily struggle that we all face, Do we truly believe that God is in control and will He act on my behalf? The answer we all want to say is yes, but the answer we sometimes cling to is, I don t know. What I find troubling is that we already know the answer to the question, though we still doubt ourselves at times. The Israelites in this passage did the same thing and you have to ask yourself, Did they really so easily forget all that God had done for their people in the past? The truth is, the Egyptians we face are here today, but when the Lord is done with them, you will never see them again. God promises this over and over again in His word and we have to find the courage to trust Him through everything that comes our way. The Lord has saved us once and for all time in Jesus Christ, so why should we allow the enemy to steal our joy and assurance in the Savior? Remember and proclaim boldly: The fearfulness of our old life is gone and in the resurrection of Christ we Stand a new creation capable of extraordinary things. Hold fast to the cross and reflect upon Jesus victory daily and nothing can stand against us. Prayer: Lord, it is my prayer that you would empower us to be Your people to all people. Guide us down the path and to the place where you will be glorified in the lives we live. Help us to fear nothing other than you. Let us love those who are far away from you and encourage those who call you Lord. It s in your name we pray, Amen. S.O.A.P. Scripture Observation Application Prayer Grab your Bible, a pen, and a notebook. Get ready to hear from God through His Word! This Week s SOAP M Exodus 16:1-3 T Exodus 16:4-5 Sufficient W Exodus 16:11-12 TH Exodus 16:13-14 F Exodus 16:15-18 S Exodus 16:19-20 Main Passage for October 1 Exodus 16:1-5;11-20 CSB Memory Verse: Exodus 16:12 I have heard the complaints of the Israelites. Tell them: At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will eat bread until you are full. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.

Victory Scripture 13 But Moses said to the people, Don t be afraid. Stand firm and see the Lord s salvation that he will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you must be quiet. 15 The Lord said to Moses, Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to break camp. 16 As for you, lift up your staff, stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. 17 As for me, I am going to harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them, and I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh, all his army, and his chariots and horsemen. 18 The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I receive glory through Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen. 19 Then the angel of God, who was going in front of the Israelite forces, moved and went behind them. The pillar of cloud moved from in front of them and stood behind them. 20 It came between the Egyptian and Israelite forces. There was cloud and darkness, it lit up the night, and neither group came near the other all night long. 21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. The Lord drove the sea back with a powerful east wind all that night and turned the sea into dry land. So the waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with the waters like a wall to them on their right and their left. 23 The Egyptians set out in pursuit all Pharaoh s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen and went into the sea after them. 24 During the morning watch, the Lord looked down at the Egyptian forces from the pillar of fire and cloud, and threw the Egyptian forces into confusion. 25 He caused their chariot wheels to swerve and made them drive with difficulty. Let s get away from Israel, the Egyptians said, because the Lord is fighting for them against Egypt! 26 Then the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the water may come back on the Egyptians, on their chariots and horsemen. 27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea returned to its normal depth. While the Egyptians were trying to escape from it, the Lord threw them into the sea. 28 The water came back and covered the chariots and horsemen, plus the entire army of Pharaoh that had gone after them into the sea. Not even one of them survived. Exodus 14:13-28 CSB Main Point God will ultimately be victorious over His enemies and the enemies of His people. *Notes adapted from Explore the Bible, LifeWay Christian Resources. God s Word - Devoted to Him God Is For You He will rejoice over you. You will rest in his love; he will sing and be joyful about you. Zephaniah 3:17 God is for you. Turn to the sidelines; that s God cheering your run. Look past the finish line; that s God applauding your steps. Listen for him in the bleachers, shouting your name. Too tired to continue? He ll carry you. Too discouraged to fight? He s picking you up. God is for you. God is for you. Had he a calendar, your birthday would be circled. If he drove a car, your name would be on his bumper. If there s a tree in heaven, he s carved your name in the bark.... Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? God asks in Isaiah 49:15. What a bizarre question. Can you mothers imagine feeding your infant and then later asking, What was that baby s name? No. I ve seen you care for your young. You stroke the hair, you touch the face, you sing the name over and over. Can a mother forget? No way. But even if she could forget,... I will not forget you, God pledges (Isa. 49:15).
