Chris Palladino has decided to depart the St. John s Rectory after living there for a number of years. His mother s health continues to decline and he has decided to move in order to provide the care she needs at this hour. Fr. Chris will be missed by our Collaborative Family, as he has spent much of his priesthood (and seminary days) accompanying and serving both parishes. We will have a special Mass of Thanksgiving for Fr. Chris, some time in November (date tbd), allowing all of us to express our gratitude and appreciation for his generous service. The diocese-wide collection today will support the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust which cares for the health and well-being of our priests. In the Archdiocese of Boston, we are blessed to have 590 men including Rev. Arthur Wright and Rev. James J. McCarthy, who have devoted their lives to serving Christ and His family. Your gift to this collection will help provide our priests with an appropriate level of care and quality of life so they can continue sharing the good news, performing good works, and spreading good faith. Remember the priests who have been there in your time of need, and consider honoring them with a generous gift to this special collection. You may also make your gift online at clergytrust.org or you can donate $25 through your cell phone by texting the word PRIEST25 to 20222 (msg. & data rates may apply). Thank you for your generous and prayerful support of our priests.

TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, May the Lord give us His peace. September 29th is the feast of St. Michael the Archangel. In our Sacred Tradition, St. Michael is called upon to assist in the battle against Satan and the evil he seeks to inflict upon the human race, especially the Church. The current situation in the life of the Church is the result of sin, and the shepherds are culpable. However, for us to ignore the existence of Satan, and his diabolical plan to destroy the Body of Christ, would be naive. We are at war, and the stakes are high! As St. Paul states: our battle is not with flesh and blood, but with powers and principalities (Ephesians 6:12). In anticipation of this Feast, I would like to invite our entire Collaborative Family to join in a novena to St. Michael. Over the course of 9 days, beginning September 21st and concluding on the 29th, all members of our Collaborative Family are invited to pray the St. Michael Prayer. We will also be praying this prayer at the end of each Mass. The Saint Michael Prayer St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke Him, we humbly pray, and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Hosts, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan, and all the other evil spirits, who prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. In 1994 in a speech in St. Peter's square, Pope Saint John Paul II said, "May prayer strengthen us for the spiritual battle we are told about in the Letter to the Ephesians: "Draw strength from the Lord and from His mighty power" (Ephesians 6:10). The Book of Revelation refers to this same battle, recalling before our eyes the image of St. Michael the Archangel (Revelation 12:7). Pope Leo XIII certainly had a very vivid recollection of this scene when, at the end of the last century, he introduced a special prayer to St. Michael throughout the Church. Although this prayer is no longer recited at the end of Mass, I ask everyone not to forget it and to recite it to obtain help in the battle against forces of darkness and against the spirit of this world" (Pope John Paul II, Regina Caeli, 24 April 1994). Your brother in Christ, Fr. Matt+ Lord, here I am, send me Parishioners and friends of St. Joseph & St. John the Baptist Collaborative are invited to celebrate the Installation of Rev. Matthew M. Williams as pastor of our collaborative churches. SEPTEMBER 16, 2018 Now more than ever, our priests, seminarians and those contemplating the call to serve Our Lord need our prayers. Here a St Joseph Parish we have a way for you to do your part to support these men who have proven to be our good shepherds and those in training or contemplating the call to be a good shepherd. The vocation crucifix is available to be signed out by individuals or families for one week. Take it home and pray the vocation prayer daily. The sign up sheet is in the entrance of the church. The process is easy. Choose your week, sign the sheet. When your week arrives pick up the crucifix in the sacristy when you come to mass. Please return the crucifix to the sacristy before the 4 pm mass on Saturday so it will be available for the next person. The Vocation Crucifix has been signed out by the following parishioner (s) for the weeks of: Sept. 16 Patty Naughton Sept. 23 All Are Welcome! Thinking About Becoming Catholic? Do you know of anyone, maybe yourself, who may be interested in becoming a Catholic? The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is designed for non-catholics who may be interested in learning more about the Catholic faith and perhaps becoming a Catholic, by preparing for and receiving the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Adults who were baptized as Roman Catholics, but did not receive further catechetical formation, and consequently did not receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist are also candidates for this program. We are happy to say that we already have four adults who have registered! For more information, contact Fr.
