Please take some time during worship to fill out the attendance/prayer card, located at the end of each pew. If you are a guest, we would love to receive contact information so we can respond to your visit with us today. WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS INVOCATION P: In the name of the Father, and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen. PREPARATION GATHERING MUSIC Lord, I Lift Your Name on High Rick Founds CONFESSION and FORGIVENESS P: Secure in the presence of our loving God and confident of His promise to forgive and to restore us, we openly confess our sins to Him and humbly acknowledge our need for His forgiveness. All: Lord God of my life, in Romans 8:28 You tell us And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Forgive me for being distracted by the world s problems and how they affect me. Forgive me for not looking for the good instead assuming the bad. Forgive me for focusing on isolated incidents instead of seeing that You have given me the promise of an eternity spent with You. Silent Reflection P: Brothers and sisters in Christ, there is good news for us! Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners and to restore our relationship with God. Therefore, God forgives us and reestablishes a wonderful relationship with Him and each other. SHARING of PEACE 1

SONG OF PRAISE There Is None Like You Lenny LeBlanc (As we sing the song of praise, please pass your attendance / prayer card to the ushers. If you are a first-time guest, please provide your contact information so that we can respond to your visit this week.) SERVICE OF THE WORD SCRIPTURE READINGS First Reading: Isaiah 42:1-9 Page 717 (LP: 1124) Epistle Reading: Romans 6:1-11 Page 1116 (LP: 1754) Gospel Reading: Matthew 3:13-17 Page 957 (LP: 1499) MESSAGE SONG On Jordan s Bank THE MESSAGE United to Christ THE CONFESSION OF OUR FAITH Pastor: Let us acknowledge our faith by the words of the Apostles Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. 2

SONG of RESPONSE / OFFERING Let s Celebrate the Lord Greg Worzel (In response to His gracious, daily provision, as an act of adoration and praise, we joyfully give back a portion of what our Lord has entrusted to us. If you are a first time guest please do not feel obligated to contribute but you may do so as the Holy Spirit leads. May God bless every sacrifice we bring!) SERVICE of the SACRAMENT Regarding the Lord s Supper Peace Lutheran Church and the other congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod share the Scriptural belief that the Lord s Supper is a sacramental meal that brings us not only Christ s true Body and Blood with the bread and wine, but also the forgiveness of sins and strength to amend our lives. Those intending to commune with us may find it spiritually helpful to consider these questions: 1. Am I sorry for my sins? 2. Do I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior? 3. Do I believe He makes His Body and Blood present in this Meal? 4. Am I determined, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to change my sinful life? WORDS of INSTITUTION DISTRIBUTION (For the distribution, the ushers will guide worshippers to the front. The pastor will offer a brief blessing for each table. A longer blessing for all communicants will be spoken after all have received communion.)
