CSR Advisory Board Members Visit Lanjigarh CSR Advisory Board Members while planting the saplings inside the plant premises Vedanta's CSR Advisory Board comprising of eminent personalities of Orissa like Mr P.K Jena, Dr Rita Ray, Mr A B Tripathy & Mr Bijoy Mohanty paid an official visit to the Vedanta th Aluminium Lanjigarh unit on 27 March 2009. During the course of the visit they inaugurated the Centralized Kitchen under the Mid Day Meal programme. The members also planted the saplings in front of the Project Office premises. They also visited the strawberry cultivation unit at Rengapalii village followed by the Project Ujjala programme at Basantapara village. The COO of VAL Lanjigarh Dr Mukesh Kumar accompanied the members during the visit. Caste Your Vote Keeping the forthcoming elections in mind, the Corporate Communications Team of VAL has undertaken a step towards creating awareness among the employees to caste their vote by putting up posters at strategic locations inside the plant at Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh. Speaker Lays Foundation Stone of VAL s Drinking Water Supply Scheme Speaker Mr. Mohanty while addressing The Hon ble Speaker of Orissa Legislative Assembly Mr Kishore Mohanty laid the foundation stone for the VAL sponsored Rengali and Sason Drinking Water Supply scheme at Rengali on 25th Feb 2009. While addressing the gathering Mr Mohanty had applauded the efforts of Vedanta for this noble initiative which will provide drinking water to the people of 23 villages in the region. Date 26th Feb 2009: 3) Successful Operation of 1 year of Green Anode Plant Date- 31st March 09 OSFC Chairman Dr. Sudhakar Panda with the Vedanta Aluminium officials at the R&R colony primary school during his visit to Jharsuguda on 16th Feb. 2009 The chairman of Orissa State Finance Commission Dr. Sudhakar Panda paid an official visit to Jharsuguda on 16th Feb. 2009. During his visit Dr. Panda visited the R&R colony and interacted with the residents. He had also over seen some of the Vedanta Aluminium s Corporate Social Responsibilities initiatives in the peripheral villages of Jharsuguda. He strongly applauded VAL s efforts undertaken in those villages. The senior officials of VAL had acompanied Dr. Panda during the visit. Safety awards given to the employees by Mr. R.K. Singh and Mr. D.K. Singh on the eve of National Safety Day at Jharsuguda First Aid Training Camp organised at Jharsuguda. Vedanta Aluminium Limited Jharsuguda in collaboration with Saint Johns Ambulance Association Rayagada had organised a first aid training camp for the employees from 25th March to 28th March 2009 in which Dr.L.N.Sahoo, First Aid Lecturer of Saint Johns Ambulance Association visited VAL Jharsuguda as a resource person and trained 60 employees in two batches.the overwhelming response of participant employees in first two batches was highly appreciated by the resource person and VAL coordinating team. Dr.Sudhamaya Nayak, Medical officer VAL Jharsuguda coordinated the program and conducted the examination intended for award of certificate at the end of the 16 hour training period. Dr.Tribikram Patnaik, AGM - OHS VAL Jharsuguda conducted the valedictory session and explained importance of application of first aid skill in day to day life at the concluding session. 2

Its opening was inaugurated by Mr. Pankaj Khanna, the Executive Director, on 13th Feb. 2009 Mr. M.S. Mehta CEO, Vedanta Resources PLC. had paid an official visit to Jharsuguda unit on 2nd April 2009 along with other senior officials of VAL. During his visit Mr. Mehta had visited the R&R colony, leaf plate making unit and the skill building and skill enhancing training center for the project affected people at Jharsuguda. Blood Donation Camp at Lanjigarh Cine Star Mihir Das Visits Lanjigarh Mr. Umesh Mehta - Vice President while Inauguratig the Blood Donation Camp A Blood Donation Camp was organized by Vedanta Aluminium at Lanjigarh Hospital on March 24, 2009. The Camp was inaugurated by Mr. Umesh Mehta, Vice-President, Vedanta Aluminium Limited. In this camp a total 35 units of blood, donated by Employees of Vedanta Aluminium and its Associate Partners was collected. Mr. Mehta himself was the first donor in this camp. Noted Oriya Cinema and Television Star Mihir Das visited Lanjigarh on March 21, 2009. He interacted with the residents of Niyamgiri Vedanta Nagar (NVN) and also visited the other local villages. At the NVN, he interacted with children in the school, the Self Help Group Members, Women and villagers. The inhabitants were delighted to see their favorite star on screen with them. He also visited Women Self help Group in Basantapada and interacted with the youths of Lanjigarh. Appreciating Vedanta s innovative community development initiatives he said, the CSR work being done by Vedanta is an example set for others to follow Mind Game held at Lanjigarh Winners of Vedanta Kshitij-2009 After painting and singing competition, the Cultural Committee of Vedanta Aluminium Lanjigarh organized a quiz competition Kshitij-2009. Total 92 participants in 32 groups participated in the Competition. The top six groups were selected through written test held February 25, 2009. The final fight for Master Minds of Vedanta was held on March 3, 2009 among the top six groups. The Team 3 S, comprising of T Suresh, Sujit Mohanty and Suresh Padhy (commercial) won the competition and became the masterminds of 2009. 4

Holi Celebrated at Lanjigarh Mid Day meal for Children in 235 Schools It was altogether a different day for the employees at Lanjigarh on the eve of Holi as everybody in the Staff Colony participated in gay abundance in a riot of colours, dancing to the tune of music as well as enjoying the lipsmacking thandai to top it all. Children and adults squirted each other with Gulal and eye catching water colours. Kalahandi Collector (middle) signing the MOU Vedanta Aluminum Limited, Lanjigarh signed a Memorandum of Understanding on February 13, 2009 with the District Administration of Kalahandi and Naandi Foundation for providing mid-day meal in Lanjigarh block of the district. The program will provide nutritious food to 14000 children in 235 schools in Lanjigarh block. The project aims at improving the nutritional status of children in classes I-VIII in government aided schools and encouraging poor children, belonging to disadvantaged sections, to attend school more regularly and help them focus on classroom activities. 5
Mr. Debraj Chakraborty Mr. Debraj Chakraborty joined the Vedanta family on 13th March 2009, as Associate General Manager (Finance) in Vedanta Aluminium Ltd., Jharsuguda. He is qualified Chartered accountant from ICAI and also a qualified Company Secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Mr. Raja Pradeep Mr. Raja Pradeep joined Vedanta family on 7th March 2009 as Manager (Commercial) in Vedanta Aluminium ltd., Jharsuguda. He holds Engineering Degree in Civil from Andhra University and has done his Post Graduate in advance construction Management from Andhra University and has done his Post Graduate in advance Construction Management from NICMAR. Mr. Rajiv Dubey Mr. Rajiv Dubey joined the Vedanta family as Associate General Manager (Infrastructure Project) in vedanta Aluminium Ltd, Jharsuguda on 23rd Feb. 2009. He will be responsible for Infrastructure projects of Smelter plant II. He holds Engineering Degree in Civil from REC, Bhopal and is also a Certified Lead Auditor for OHSAS: 18002, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:1996 from BVQI, London. Seminar on wire protection technology held at VAL Jharsuguda A one day long seminar on wire protection technology was held at the auditorium of the PMO office of VAL Jharsuguda on 4th Feb 2009. In which employees in large number had participated and discussed the various facets of the topic.
