William Waggner and Thomas Surman, 1753 Deed Book 3, p. 151 NORTH CAROLINA: This indenture made the 16th day of December 1753 between William Waggner of Beaufort County & province of planter & Thomas Surman of the county & province planter. Witnesseth William Wagoner for & in consideration of the sum of Six pounds seven Shillings and eight pence proc: in hand paid before the sealing & delivery of these presents by said Thomas Surman, the receipt I do herby acknowledge have sold alained & confirmed & by these presents bargain sell & confirm unto Thomas Surman his heirs & assigns one hundred acres of land on the South Side of Pamplico river, part of a tract of land formerly belonging to James Adams beginning at a pine the lower corner on Newtons run along the back line of the deviding line that part William Adams & the land herein mentioned & down the said dividing line to Newtons run, & down said run to the other line & with that line to the first station for 100 acres more or less & all woods timber ways & water courses & appurtenances thereto belonging. To have and to hold the land above mentioned to said Thomas Surman his heirs & assigns to his & their use & --- forever and said William Wagoner hath a good title, and lawful authority to convey the land above mentioned unto said Thomas Surman his heirs & assigns according to the true interest and meaning of these presents, also that said Thomas Surman shall at all times hereafter peaceably possess and enjoy the above mentioned primises without interuption or molestation of said William Wagoner or any other persons free & clear of all incumbrances, quit rents only excepted, & said William Wagoner & his heirs the said investments & every part thereof against him & all other persons whatever to Thomas Surman his heirs & assigns shall & will warrant and forever defend by these presents. William Ormond to William Sirman, 1762 State of This indenture made 31 of May 1762 between William Ormond of in the province of... of the one part & William Sirman of the County & province afsd. Witnesseth that William ormond for and in consideration of the sum of seven pounds seventeen shillings of proc. money to him in hand paid by said William Sirman hath granted bargained sold alined conveyed confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien convey & confirm and unto the said William Sirman his heirs & assigns all that tract of land containing 250 acres more or less lying in on the So Side of Pamplico river, which said land was patented by William Webster the 23rd October 1761 recorded in the secretaries office; and all buildings gardens orcherds woods ways water & advantages whatsoever to the said land now or at any time heretofore belonging and also all the Estate rights title interest claim & demand whatsoever of him this William Ormond of in & to the same. To have and to hold the said land & premises unto the said William Sirman his heirs & assigns forever. In witness whereof the said William Ormond hath hereunto put his hand & Seal the day and year first above written. ( Deed Book 7, p. 21) Eli Sirmon and Peter Carter, 1791 This Indenture made the 20th of August 1791 between Eli Sirmon of the County of Pitt, State of No. Carolina of the one part and Peter Carter of the County of Beaufort, State afsd of the other part. Witnesseth that I Eli Sirmon for the consideration of the sum of 21 Pounds lawful money of the State to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do acknowledge have bargained, sold, & confirmed unto the sd Peter Carter his heirs and assigns a parcel of land lying in the County of Beaufort on the So Side of Campbells Creek & Es. side of Smiths Creek. Beginning at a pine on the mouth of Smiths Creek running down Campbells Creek Es. 126 poles to a pine, then So. 15Et. 126 P. to a pine, then Wth 126 poles to Smiths Creek and from there with the windings of Smiths Creek to the beginning containing one hundred acres. To have to hold the said bargained premises unto him said Peter Carter his heirs & assigns forever against me my heirs and against all other persons will warrant & defend. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand & seal the day & year above written. Eli Sirman (seal) Sealed & delivered in presence of: Levi Carter Thomas Sirmon December Term 1793. Charles Garrard to William Sirmon, 1792 Edgecomb/Beaufort Counties This Indenture made the 30th day of August 1792 between Charles Garrard of the county of Edgecomb & State of North Carolina & said William Sirmon of the County of Beaufort State of No. Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Charles Garrard for and in consideration of the natural love and affiction which he doth bear unto his brother William Sirmon and for the better maintenance of him the said William Sirmon the said Charles Garrard doth give and grant and confirm unto the said William Sirmon his heirs and assigns one certain parcel of land lying and being in by situation two hundred acres more or less lying at the lowermost end of the Fresh Pond running NoE to the back line of Thomas Blounts line, and with that line to the beginning line, then with that line to James Dunbars line, and with that line to the first Station, as will more fully appear by a deed from John G. Blount to Forbes Gerrard dated the 19th of February 1791. To have and to hold the afsaid two hundred acres of land & premises and appurtances thereto belonging unto the said William Sirmon his heirs & assigns forever with all profits thereof and the said Charles Garrard for himself, his heirs and assigns doth covenant to warrant and defend the title and property of the afsd land. Charles Garrard and Benjamin Sirmon, 1797 Deed Book 7, p. 369 This Indenture made this 10th day of May 1797 between Charles Garrard of the County of Edgcombe, State of No. Carolina of the one part and Benj. Sirmon of the County of Beaufort, State afst for & in consideration of the natural love & affection to which he the sd Charles Garrard doth bear unto his brother Benjamin Sirmon but more especially for & in consideration of the sum of Five shillings to him in hand paid by his said brother Benj Surman the receipt whereof doth acknowledge hath granted bargained and sole conveyed & confirmed unto the said Benj Surman his heirs & assigns forever one certgain parcel of Land situated in the County of Beaufort containing by estimation two hundred acres be the same more or less. Beginning at the lower most end of the Fresh Pond, running No. Est. to the back line of Thomas Blount's line and with that line to the beginning line, then with that line to James Dunbar's line & with that line to the first station as will more fully appear by a deed from myself to Wm Surman bearing date the 13th of August 1792 reference to sd deed & also one other parcel of land situated lying & being in sd County of Beaufort containing one hundred acres beginning at John Maule's corner on Blount's line at a pine, running... sd line running So 8 Et. 120 poles to a pine, then No. 30 Wst. 32 poles to a pine on Webbers line, then with sd line No. 47 Wt. 70 poles to the corner, thence No. 5 Est. 90 poles to the first station as by a patent to Forbes Garrard dated 8 October 1782. To have and to hold the afst Three hundred acres of land to the sd Benj. Surman his heirs & assigns doth warrant & defend by these presents. Isaac Sirmon and Nancy Keis, 1817 Hyde/ This indenture made this 23rd day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundre and seventeen. Between and by Isaac Sirmon of the County of Hyde & State of of the one part and Nancy Keis & the heirs of her Boddy of the County of Beaufort & State of of the other part witnesseth that for and inconsideration of the sum of Two hundred and seventy dollars to him the said Isaac Surmons in hand paid or secured to be paid by the said Nancy Keis and her heirs the receipt whereof I the said Isaac Surmons doth hereby acknowledge and myself there with doth f.. contented and paid have given granted bargained and sold unto the said Nancy Keys and her heirs a certain Tract of Land lying and being in the county of Beaufort and State of and on the North side of Pamilico River bounded as follows: begfinning at the mouth of a gut... above... p... running with Ransons line to... line and there with Boyds line to a gut in the great marsh at the snout of goose creek and then with said gut to the river and then with the river round to the beginning containing by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less being the same land that I bot of John Boyd. Reference being paid to the same deed of conveyance will more planly appear. To have and to hold the aforesaid bargained land and premisses unto the said Nancy Keys and her heirs executors administrators and assigns forever all the afore said bargained land and every.. & parcel thereof houses orchards and every thing there on.. to the said Nancy Keys and her heirs forever and I the aforesaid Isaac Sirmon for myself my heirs executors & administrators & assigns forever do covenant and assign and with the said Nancy Keis and her heirs forever and I the said Isaac Surmons for my self my heirs and assigns forever will warrant the same and defent the afore said bargained land and premises unto the said Nancy Keis and her heirs for ever. Windly, 1819 This indenture made the twenty fourth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen between Zabez Sirmon of the County of Hyde and the State of No. Carolina of the one part and R.. Windly of the County of Beaufort and State afsd of the other part. Witnessth that the said Zabez Sirmons for and in consideration of the sum of seventy five dollars to me in hand paid have given granted bargained and sould and by these presents do bargain and sell assign and let over unto the sd Rucl Windley a parcel or tract of land containing eight one acres situated lying on the South side of Pungo Swamp in the County of Beaufort beginning at a pine near the lower...... that crosses the sd swamp and from thence runing so> fifty west with a line of marked trees three hundred and sixteen poles to a Black Stump being a division line between Baley Bentory::: two children then west to Lathams Line and... Lathams line down the ditch bank being a marked line to a water oake corner and from thence north the courses of Recel Windley Line to the said Pinge Swamp to a red oake corner and with the course of the said Windleys Line to the nearest Run on the South side of Rango Swamp and with the courses of the run to the first station containing by estimation eight one acres be the same more or less. The said Zabaz Summons do an advise forever warrant and defend to the said Ruel Windly him his heirs and assigns forever the above described land and will forever warrant and defend from myself and heirs and assigns and will claim and titly but where... Paul shall redeem his said land or any friend for him then the said Zabez Surmen shall be clear and his... after him of t... orchards but after said Ruel Windley.. for the above mentioned land the said Zabez Sumans shall by seventy five dollars take all the land that is named above except the Southern End of it which may reecovered by a min entry which will contain all the land on the south side of... line to Bentons swhich begins at a pine on the south side of Pungo Swamp... and of the said Zabez Surmans do not give the seventy five dollars and take the land and... my self and the said Ruel Windley be cast in the... Burridge H. Linton and Joseph Surmon, 1821 Deed Book 12, p. 484 State of,. This Indenture made this twenty third day February one thousand eight hundred and twenty-one between Burridge H. Linton of the one part and Joseph Surmon of the other part both of the County of Hide and state aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said Linton for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars have this day bargained sold and conveyed and to these presents do bargain sell convey and confirmed unto Joseph Surmon a certain piece or parcel of land lying on the East side of Goose Creek on the head of the East prong of Said Creek containing one hundred and fifty acres to have and to hold the aforesaid land & premises with all the appurtances thereunto belonging to him the said Surmon his heirs Executors & administrators or assigns forever and I the said Linton for myself my heirs Executors Administrators and assigns do by these presents Warrant and forever defend the above said land against all claims what soever in testimony these of I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Swan quator the day and year Before mentioned. Joseph Surman and Bryan Surman, 1823 State. This Indenture made this eight day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty-three, Between Joseph Surman of the one part and Bryan Surman of the other part witnesseth that for the good will and value that I bear to my son Bryan Surman, that I give unto him a certain piece of land situated and lying in on the east side of Goose Creek and near the head of the east prong. Containing fifty acres, lying at the south east corner of James Potters land, running westerly with Potters line as far as... a parallel line with the Easternmost line of my deed across southernly to the patent line, and so with the various courses to the first station to include fifty acres of land. To have and to hold free and clear from... any heirs Exors Admst or assign and from all other persons whatsoever laying any right or claim thereunto, unto the said Bryan Surman him his heirs Exors Admns or assigns forever as witness my hand and seal this eight day of august 1823 in presence of us attest. James Patten to Rebecca Sermons, 1854 Deed Book 28, p. 605 Whereas hereafter James Patten guardian to Rebecca Sermons a lunitic,... his petition in Court of Equity for the County of Beaufort and State of, at shving Term AD 1854 setting forth that the said Rebecca Sirmons was entitled to an undivided interest in one hundred & fifty acres of land lying in on the South Side of Pamilco River, at the head of Goose Creek, and the head of the easternmost prong of said Creek, adjoining the lands of said James Patten and Joseph Patten son of John Patten and that her interest in said land is one third part of the whole part of 150 acres. And whereas the matter... the Court of Equity aforesaid when said petition & process the said Court adjudged and decreed that said undivided interest in said land be sold by the masters when a credit of 12 months interest after six months. And whereas the masters at Fall Term of said Court reports that in... of the... he had sold said interest and that the said James Patten... (difficulty to read)

Patten Benj Cunfran & others and further reference refs to the... plat containing fifty acres valued at six hundred dollars. Lot No. 2 is appropriated to James Patten in... bounded as follows: namely Known as the Polly fifty acres joining Nathaniel Patten and said Joseph Patten and the Bryan fifty acres per further references refers to the annexed Plat containing fifty and valued at three hundred dollars....can't read the writing.
