Dear Hatcher Church Family, What a double blessing you bestowed on me Sunday! Your generous love gifts and your kind words and reception were above and beyond what I deserve. All of you have blessed me in numerous ways in the last 13 months, and I know you will continue to do so for your next pastor! Thank you! Love, Maria Lynn Dear Hatcher Hospitality Ladies, Our family wants to thank each of you for all your help with Janice Brammer s funeral reception. Your prayers and sympathy were greatly appreciated. Thank you. Charlie Joe Brammer and family Dear Hearts in Motion, Thank you for such a beautiful expression of love from all of you. The Sonshine Box was a big surprise, and I loved the gifts each day. I carry the tape measure and magnifying glass with me in my purse. The verses are wonderful. Thanks again! Love, Phyllis Johnson Dear Hatcher Friends, Thank you so much for all of the cards, food, and prayers during my cancer treatment. I have treasured your love and prayer support more than I can convey. What a loving church family we are blessed to have! With love, Sharon Vecchione Proposed By-Law Changes The next is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 6 p.m. Our agenda will include proposed changes to the By- Laws. Per the By-Laws, these changes are being printed one month prior to the meeting. Article VI, D. Quorum. In all business meetings, twenty-five (25) members shall constitute a quorum. A majority of the members shall decide all questions in business meetings except where otherwise stated in this constitution and by-laws. Article XI. Change last revised date to October 17, 2018. Worship Service Assistance Needed Do you consider yourself a prayer warrior? Do you feel a desire to pray for others? We are looking for church members to pray for us during the Sunday Traditional Service. We need someone to share an offertory prayer each Sunday. We also need two people the first Sunday of every month to offer a prayer of confession and a prayer of thanksgiving during communion. If you would like to help out, whether one time or on a regular basis, please contact Lena Taylor at porcelains@att.net or call 804-457-4904. Lakeside Clergy: Churches Praying for Churches The Lakeside Clergy Group meets monthly for conversation regarding cooperative ministry efforts, among other things. We ve recently initiated an effort to pray for the churches in Lakeside each month. In October, we ask that you pray for Lakeside United Methodist Church, and their pastor, the Rev. Mark Rooks.

Women on Mission Tuesday, October 9 10:30 a.m. Imperial Plaza The Hatcher/Imperial Plaza Women on Mission will meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, in the Virginia Room at Imperial Plaza. Our guest speaker will be Norma Hays from River Road Church Baptist. She has been on a mission trip to Panama. We will have a devotion, pray for our missionaries, and discuss our mission involvement project for September, followed by lunch and fellowship around the table. Love and Fellowship Thursday, October 18 10:00 a.m. The Love and Fellowship group will meet for lunch and entertainment at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 18, in the Fellowship Hall. Entertainment will be announced in the near future. September Mission Project Saturday, October 20 10:00 a.m. Hearts in Motion will be holding a party for the residents of Lakeside House on Saturday, October 20, from 10 a.m. until noon. This is one of the group s favorite projects, and is held in the spring and fall of each year. The group will provide snacks, lead craft projects, and present prizes for the many Bingo games that will be played with those attending. Please contact Kathy Ridenour at 804-840-9847 or Sue Mitchell at 804-513-4086 if you are interested in helping out. Trunk or Treat Wednesday, October 31, 5:30-7:30 p.m. One of the most fun activities Hatcher Church holds each year is the Trunk or Treat event on Halloween. This year s event will be on Wednesday, October 31, starting at 5:30 p.m. In addition to handing out candy, we will also be serving hot dogs and drinks. This is a great way to reach the families of our Child Development Center and the surrounding Lakeside community!! There are many ways for you to become involved. Prior to the event, we will be collecting candy as well as financial donations to purchase additional candy, hot dogs, and drinks. It s time to be a kid again! On the day of the event, dress up in costume, decorate the trunk of your car or truck, and hand out candy. Volunteers are also needed to serve hot dogs and drinks and to direct traffic. You are also welcome to just come out and enjoy the costumes of both the children and adults! Contact Cecilia Fleet if you can help by calling 804-730-8615 or emailing shecrab99@yahoo.com. Pastor Search Update Wayne Duke, Committee Chairperson Your Pastor Search Committee has been diligently working, as we met three times over the month of September. We are at a critical point in the search as we review the resumes that have been received. As we narrow down the candidates, we pray for God's leadership in discerning the right person to lead our church. We also have to be ready to face disappointment that the candidates may not choose us in this part of the process. We know that this really is a marriage, and both parties need to feel God's leadership. As a committee, we are excited about this part of the process and look forward to God's revelation. Please continue to uphold us in prayer. I am reminded of this scripture: "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:24.
