SPIRITUAL DIRECTION COURSE OFFERED A Course in Spiritual Direction Ken Swanson will be offering his course in Spiritual Direction beginning in September. Although every person of faith prays at times; many, if not most, Christians are frustrated in developing a disciplined prayer life because they have never been taught either a theological and historical understanding of the nature of prayer or a systematic approach to learning how to pray effectively. The class will meet every two weeks on Monday evenings, beginning on September 8th. Each of the sixteen sessions will include small group discussion and the learning of a new prayer discipline, which every class member will put into practice for the two weeks between meetings. This is not a course for the casual or the dilettante. To enroll one must make a commitment to complete the entire course and to set aside a minimum of one hour a day for reading, prayer and journaling. If you are interested in participating, you must meet with Ken Swanson ahead of time. He can be contacted at kswanson@stdavidchurch.org. The fruit of such commitment will be a heightened self-understanding, a thorough knowledge of the nature of Christian prayer, and hopefully an enriching and deeper relationship with God. Prayers 101 Spring 2014 Facilitated by The Rev. Anne Elizabeth Swiedler 11:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. In Grace Parish Hall April 30 The Jesus Prayer EMPANADA SALES BEGIN! The empanada sales will begin on May 18 after the 10:00 service and continue through June 8 (4 weeks). The cost will be $1.50 each, or 3 for $4. Look for the sales in Grace parish hall across from the Welcome Center. Proceeds will be used for scholarships for any of our St. David s children who want to attend summer camp at Camp Mikell and cannot afford to do so.
