Dear Eric, Again thank you for your assistance in engaging, encouraging, and equipping Jennifer and I on this wonderful adventure called church planting. You and the Ohio District have been amazing. A year ago no one could have convinced me of the events that have transpired. God is doing such a work in Cleveland and I know the best is yet to come. Per your request, I am submitting our activation model for an additional campus, which we will continue to shape in the next few months. I look forward to being with you and the Ohio District Leadership on July 23 rd. Again thank you for the opportunity. Doing Life Together, Jim & Jennifer Wilkes
2 Journey Definitions // 1. Mission: The Why we are here? 2. Vision: The Where are we going? 3. Strategy: A strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a particular goal. Example: In military terms, tactics is concerned with the conduct of an engagement while strategy is concerned with how different engagements are linked. In other words, how a battle is fought is a matter of tactics: whether it should be fought at all is a matter of strategy. Strategy is different from tactics. 4. Tactic: A tactic is a conceptual action. A tactic is implemented as one or more tasks. Example: In military usage, a military tactic is used by a military unit of no larger than a division to implement a specific mission and achieve a specific objective, or to advance toward a specific goal. The terms tactic and strategy are often confused: tactics are the actual means used to gain an objective, while strategy is the overall campaign plan, which may involve complex operational patterns, activity, and decision-making that lead to tactical execution.
3 Our Mission Journey Community Church has a clear mission: Journey Church strives to be a place that people of all ages can LOVE GOD and LOVE PEOPLE by engaging, experiencing, and expressing God in the family, church, community and world. This mission clearly articulates who we are and we are making good progress towards seeing it become a reality. Our Vision Journey Community Church also has a clear Relentless Vision: Our one-year vision by the year 2010 is to become a vibrant multi-generational & geographical congregation of over 600 people. Our three-year vision is to be 1,000 people worshipping under one vision by 2012. This will be accomplished by: Growing together in close relationships, discipleship and ministry experience; Reaching out with compassion, care and support to five thousand people annually through our counseling and community ministries; Planting and establishing 2 church-campuses in strategic places in Cleveland, Ohio; Sending 75 people on World Impact teams Investing annually to impact the unreached and less fortunate, the persecuted and the poor in Cleveland. We believe this will honor God and bring glory to His name. Our mission provides a clear sense of purpose for our church ( Why are we here? ) while our vision provides a clear sense of direction as we move towards the future ( Where are we going? ). Our Strategy Strategy: A strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a particular goal. Our current strategy to become a church of 600 people includes seeking to do more outreach and evangelism centered around our current single site in the suburb of Fairview Park. With a 30,000 sq ft facility that can seat 450 (when we renovate the Social Hall) our capacity for growth has increased. Our goal is to establish our church services on a weekend of full capacity, we have the potential to have more than half our goal of 600, enabling us to achieve that aspect of our 3 campuses in 3 three years vision.
4 Our Tactics Tactic: A tactic is a conceptual action. A tactic is implemented as one or more tasks. Relentless Campaign New Sanctuary We currently meet in our main sanctuary that holds 250 people. Since our launch on March 29, 2009 we have been operating at 85-90% filled each week. We have access to a social hall that can hold 450 people and will accommodate our growth and momentum. We are in the midst of raising $25,000 to renovate this area by the fall. 3 in 3: Our goal is to establish 3 campuses in 3 years. A multi-site church is simply one church in multiple locations. All sites share the same governing Board of Elders, budget, staff and administration. In most cases, the name of the church indicates both the broader church name and the particular site location (e.g. Journey Church North and Journey Church South). Each location develops its own set of volunteers for ministry areas but there is one leadership team and one teaching team that oversee and are involved in all sites. The Big Serve Culture The Big Serve is our challenge for the Journey family to serve once every 6 months on at least one of our bi-monthly Big Serve projects. They and their family, and friends can all participate. These are big and community focuses events to show the love of God with no strings attached.
