The vision October 30, 2018 I appreciate the many of you who expressed your excitement over the proposal that the Elders presented to the church family on Sunday Morning. The drawings they presented revealed an artist depiction of a multipurpose building approximately 20,000 square feet, at a projected cost of 2.5 million dollars. The proposed building, if affirmed by the congregation, will be used for youth and college age classrooms, sports events, Easter productions, and for temporary times of worship so that our current worship center can be prepared for an annual wild game banquet as we have had in the past. Wayne Robertson Pastor The elders are planning a question and answer session on Sunday, November 4 at 4:30 p.m. in the worship center. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. I am so very thankful for the Morningside Men and Boys who did a fantastic job singing on Sunday evening in the all male choir. You were a blessing!! Thank you Brother David for leading in this endeavor. I want to express my gratitude to those who went out on Sunday afternoon door to door to approximately 800 homes to leave information about the upcoming We Love Valdosta Day. This special day will be Saturday, November 10 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on the Morningside Campus. This is a community-wide event held without cost for all members of the Valdosta community. We Love Valdosta Day Outreach I want to express my profound thanks to those who participated in We Love Valdosta Day outreach Sunday afternoon. In less than an hour those wonderful folks left bags on the doors of over 800 homes! Each bag contained a We Love Valdosta Day flyer, a card with information about our church, and a Gospel tract. It is so important for our church to reach out to our closest neighbors. In addition to Sunday s outreach effort, we have also dropped off flyers at some nearby apartment complexes. Thank you all for your help! John Yates Please pray that many people will come to We Love Valdosta Day who need to learn about the Lord and His love for them. Ask God to use that fun event to open doors so adults and kids can come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Wouldn t that be glorious? We Love Valdosta Day On Saturday, November 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. hundreds of people from our community will come to our campus for a special outdoor festival. Free food, bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, antique cars, crafts, and more fun activities will entertain families and individuals who might never come to a church service. They will all receive information about our church, but the most important contact they can possibly receive is a friendly greeting from our members. I hope you will plan to come help with the fun activities, but most importantly I hope you will come be an ambassador for Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). Greet people you don t know. Thank them for coming to We Love Valdosta Day. Find out if they have a local church home; and if not, invite them to Sunday School and worship. We will have Gospel tracts and printed information about our church available to give out. I hope you ll plan to get involved. TIME CHANGE It s that time of year again. This Saturday, November 3 we must set our clocks BACK one hour before going to bed. Please remind your regular Sunday School attenders so they won t be late for class on Sunday morning. Who do you know that needs to know Jesus or needs a church home? I hope you ll invite that person to come with you to Sunday School this Sunday! Brother John Prayer - Outreach - Ministry - Fellowship
LET THE MEN SING! Thank you to the 69 men who participated Sunday night in our Men s Choir. It was a tremendous blessing and you sounded great. I am already looking forward to the next time we can sing together. We hope to see some of you join us in the Chancel Choir soon. The Ladies of Morningside will have their chance to sing in 2019 on February 10 th in the evening service. Will the ladies have more than 69? We will wait and see. Morningside Baptist Church Invites you to join us for Born is the King, Hallelujah The Music Ministry is looking forward to December 9, 2018 as we present Born is the King, Hallelujah. It will be a powerful night of worship as all of the choirs of Morningside, from the Children to the Chancel Choirs, sing and celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because He Lives, Brother David
If your child or grandchild attends Morningside I want you to know that I love them. No, I really mean it: I love your loved ones. They mean everything to me. So much so that I changed careers to spend my resources working with them. So much so that I spend hours contemplating how to make a positive influence on them. And what I work for is their wellbeing and prayerfully their salvation and sanctification. As much as I work at that I can t do it alone. I need the Holy Spirit to guide me. I need my wife to assist me and I need my family to support me. Fortunately, I have all that, but still I need one more support piece. I need you, the adults. I need adults tuned in and engaged in their teen s life. John Nipper Nitschke Youth Director I need adults that won t give a child an option about attending Church they attend because it s the right thing to do. I need adults that will understand that their little bundle of joy is just as capable of sin as every other human ever created. I need adults that will monitor their child s social media, entertainment choices and leisure time activities. I need adults that understand the influences today s teenagers face. Recent Nielsen research showed that children 17 and under watch over 20 hours of TV per week. That same research showed that 80 percent of U.S. teens aged 14 to 17 own smartphones and 90 percent of those teens watch videos on those devices. With that smart phone the World Wide Web is at your child s fingertips as only 29 percent of U.S. teens aged 14 to 17 use the Internet via a desktop computer. Traditional media and social media have a tremendous influence on today s teenagers and often the adults are not in tune with its negative impact. Case in point is a very popular Netflix show called 13 Reasons Why. The show follows teenagers dealing with the aftermath of a peer suicide. A heavy subject indeed that in the show is wrapped around teen love interests which make for a glamorization of the relationships and the suicide act itself. These are serious subjects that should never be glamorized. The answer to all this is to have adults that monitor and discuss with the child their media choices. Studies show that still in today s time a parent, if engaged, has the biggest influence on a teen. Keep the Faith!! Brother Nipper Wednesday, October 31 Nipper Time: Trick or Treat??
