Putting Faith to Work (part 8)
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such wisdom does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.
16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peaceloving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. (ESV)

20 Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square; 21 on top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech:
22 How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?
23 Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings

To determine if a person is truly wise, look at their character. Godly character is the fruit of wisdom.

Knowledge and logical, persuasive arguments are not the same as wisdom. You can be right in your own eyes, but very unwise.

When we are arguing with someone, we tend to ask ourselves the wrong question. We tend to ask ourselves Am I right? vs. Am I being wise?
When you are having a conflict with someone, stop & ask yourself, Does what I am arguing & the way I am arguing have the characteristics of earthly wisdom or heavenly wisdom?
When you possess godly wisdom in a conflict, you don t need to raise your voice nor belligerently argue your case
Be filled with the Spirit
Ask for God s wisdom 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5)
Spend time reading His Word especially Proverbs 19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Spend time reading His Word especially Proverbs 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. (James 1:19-21)
Be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger 19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Live in community 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed (James 5:16)
Be a heavenly wise person, not an earthly wise guy!
