SPRING 2016 Jubilee Project, Inc. A Mission Field Close To Home Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Holston Conference Advance #3500-301-56 * National Advance #781350 Words from the Director: Linda Stransky Jubilee Main Office 197 North Jockey St. PO Box 657 Sneedville, TN 37869 423-733-4195 Fax 423-733-1634 When I visited Jubilee Project for the first time, I was sitting in the conference room and saw their vision statement posted on the wall. When I read it, it spoke directly to my heart and I knew in that moment that I wanted to be part of this wonderful mission project. Let me share it with you: Jubilee Project envisions a world where everyone has enough, where those who have more share with glad and generous hearts, and where those who have less find relief from oppression and hope for the future. 2016 is a very special year for Jubilee as it marks 25 years of ministry to the people of Hancock County. For 25 years Jubilee has endeavored to do ministry with this vision in mind. We have sought God s guidance in finding ways to empower the people here and shine the light of God s love to bring hope into their lives. What shape the ministry has taken over the years has varied as staff members have changed and brought their own gifts and graces, but this vision statement has remained at its core. As a staff, we continue to pray for God s guidance to meet the changing needs of the community as each year brings new challenges into the lives of the people here. We would ask your prayers for us as we seek God s will for the ministry. As a way of celebrating this 25-year milestone, we are a planning a series of 4 celebrations, each targeting a different audience. Each celebration will have a service component. June 30: A community celebration at Jubilee Center to coincide with the annual Hoedown sponsored by Centreville UMC from Centreville, VA. Come and join the fun complete with a square dance caller. A barbeque starts at 6pm. August 12-13: A weekend for youth at our center at Flat Gap. Come Friday night after 6pm for an evening of fellowship and worship, followed by a day of service on Saturday. You are also wel- come to come just for Saturday. We would like the fellowship and worship to be youth-led, so if you d like to participate please let us know. August 27: A day of service for men. Come and help us complete the projects that were started over the summer, plus some that will take only one day. You can come Friday and stay overnight at Flat Gap or join us Saturday morning. Breakfast will be served from 8-9am and then we ll disperse for our projects. October 15: A day of fellowship and service for women. Come and join us at Flat Gap for lunch and worship, followed by a variety of service projects. There will be something for every age. If you are able and want to do something more physical (like painting or light construction), let us know and we ll get a group together. More details about each event will be forthcoming as the planning takes shape. Come and help us celebrate what God has done and continues to do through Jubilee! Blessings, Executive Director P.S. A few wonderful praises : We ve been very blessed by the donations already collected by your UMW units. Our prayers for a pickup truck were answered by a couple attending a mission celebration. So far we ve received enough donations for 2½ youth to attend camp. We thank and celebrate you!

JUBILEE PROJECT, INC. PAGE 2 Heidi R, Taylor: Jubilee Project Office manager God is alive and present in our lives, and gives us a strong foundation for all that we do. He is the rock and foundation of our faith, and should be praised! Where did 2015 go? Here we are 2016 and our calendars are filling fast. I just want to say thank you and God bless you to all the people, churches and organizations that helped in so many ways last year. With out you all we do would not be possible here in Hancock County. JUBILEE PROJECT, INC. PAGE 3 Rhonda Utermoehlen: Outreach projects manager The youth ministry is growing and in need of SNAP type foods to send home with the kids for the weekend. Our youth will again be having their pancake breakfast fundraiser at the Green Tomato Grill in Mooresburg, TN in September. This provides our funding to attend the Youth Resurrection in January 2017. Work teams now have an option to preorder T-shirts before your arrival. T-shirts have the Jubilee 25 th anniversary logo on the front. On the Back: God s Work, Our Hands You can help sponsor a youth to camp at Wesley Woods by sending a check to Jubilee Project with the note on the memo line kids to camp. Youth having devotion The women s ministry continues to grow. We enjoy a lunch together, followed by bible study and a craft project. God s heart cries out for the souls of those who feel lost or alone. The Bible reminds us that our mission must be to seek and save the lost, to offer refuge and encouragement. When you give to Jubilee Project, Inc. (whether monetary or of yourself) you re feeding, clothing, sheltering, and helping His people. God bless you, Youth and Jubilee Director Linda Stransky learning to dance. The home repair ministry: Our summer is filling up fast!
