Gaither s United Methodist Church 1375 Newton Factory Bridge Road Covington, GA 30014 (770) 786-6001 How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver! Proverbs 16:16 NOVEMBER 2018 A Church of Worship: In his account of JESUS birth, Luke wanted to capture in words the spirit of great joy that the angel predicted. Among our dreary, defeated world, we have a lasting hope that is bursting forth. Come worship with us, and sense the presence of The GOD that brought His only Son into the world so that we may finally believe!! Pastor: Joe Peabody, Sr. Youth Pastor: Cory Stevenson Lay Leader: Andy Parker 1

A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR We had our Fall Charge Conference with seven other churches in South Newton County. The District Superintendent, Dr. Quincy Brown, asked each church to identify four or five values which drive the ministry of the local church. Andy Parker reported that there are at least these five values without which Gaither s Church would not be the church we know and love. Value #1 is our ministry with children. The Bible promises train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Our children are a precious gift from God. Value #2 is our ministry with young people. Studies have shown over and over again that most Christians make their first commitment to Christ during their teen years. Youth ministry is crucial. Value #3 is our adult Sunday School classes. Much of our spiritual growth and nurture happens in the Sunday School. Value #4 is our praise-filled worship. The Bible says God inhabits the praise of his people. We offer him our praise with joy and thanksgiving every Sunday morning. Value #5 is our table fellowship. It is not just that our crowd loves to eat. We love to eat with each other. If any one of these five things were not a vital part of the vision and ministry of Gaither s, we would not be the church God wants us to be. I look forward to seeing you with the ones you love at Sunday School and Church next week. Joe 2
