Spirit-Filled Discover & Serve Spirit-Filled: In this series, learn to move under the direction and power of the Holy Spirit, to accomplish what God has designed us for, by using the gifts that He has given to us. In This Lesson: Read 1 Peter 4:7-11 and discover your motivational gifts. Equip Think about what your gifts are and how they are used in your life. Accountability Discuss your thoughts with your group and encourage each other to apply God s Word to your lives. Pray Pray together with your group because everything begins with, ends with and depends on God. Scorecard How are you doing with the mission that Christ has given you? Key Verse: As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: (1 Peter 4:10) A man reaps what he sows ~Galatians 6:7-8 (NIV)

Read In order to properly use our gifts, we must first discover what they are. There are many tools to assist in the discovery process, including praying and asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the gifts He has given to you, seeking godly wisdom from mature believers, self reflection, and assessments or surveys. This lesson will focus on discovering our motivational gifts. Read 1 Peter 4:7-11 Take the motivational gifts survey online at: http://www.gifttest.org/survey.html, or use the attached survey. Come to the group meeting prepared to discuss your results. Now that you have discovered your gifts, how are you going to use them for the glory of God in your local church and in the Church globally? Figuring out our gifting and understanding that those gifts are given to us by the Holy Spirit is just the first step. Let s take the next step of developing those gifts and using them for the glory of God, showing the love of Christ to other members of the Body and also to the lost.

Equip As you read through the Scriptures, perhaps there were some things you didn t understand or needed to study further. Take some time to think and respond to the following questions: 1. Do you agree with the assessment? Why or why not? 2. What are your top two motivational gifts? Discuss what these look like in your life.

Accountability Before your next D group meeting, think about the question below. You will discuss this with your group. This question will help you to examine your life in light of the truth you explored this week. It also gives other group members an opportunity to encourage you to be a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. 1. Are you using these gifts for serving the Church? If yes, how? If no, what is your plan to put these gifts to use for Jesus?

Pray We believe that we must pray because everything begins with, ends with, and depends on God. Use the following prayer as a model this week: Lord, lead me in discovering, developing, and deploying my gifts for the good of the Church. Lead me as I use the gifts of grace that you have put in me. You have created me for good works, which you prepared for me ahead of time. Help me to be sensitive to Your Spirit's leading in using all you gave me for your glory and honor.

Pray My prayer request regarding the topic this week is: My prayer request regarding a situation in my life is: My prayer request for others is: (fill this out at D Group)

Scorecard What is Jesus mission? It is to make His gospel known to all people through word (sharing the gospel) and deed (demonstrating the gospel). This is the mission that every generation of His followers must take up as well. But, don t confuse becoming missional with becoming a foreign missionary. A missionary may devote his or her life to making the gospel known beyond a border or across an ocean. But, Christ calls all of His followers to make the gospel known through word and deeds wherever they live, work or play, as well as in their surrounding communities. Who am I praying for an opportunity to share the truth of Jesus with right now? Who am I intentionally witnessing to about Jesus right now? Who am I discipling right now?
