1 The aim of the laboratory is to get acquainted with basic formatting techniques in Word 2010 processors (MS Word). Some of the described actions can be performed in some other ways than the ones presented below which are the most common and simple. The light-gray background is applied only for distinction of the examples, not for exercise purposes. Exercise 1 Format some text provided in the text file after copying it into MS Word 2010 document according to the example. Before that, open a new document in word (File tab New blank document). Apply appropriate font styles: 1. Mark the text fragment to be formatted with mouse or keyboard arrows keeping Shift key pressed: a) in case of a single word just put the cursor on the word to be formatted, b) when dealing with a group of non-adjacent words (discontinuous selection) you can mark all of then holding Ctrl key pressed when selecting, c) selection and formatting can be off course applied to single characters, eg.: selection. 2. From the context menu (right mouse button) or Page Layout tab then the little arrow at the bottom right side corner of the Paragraph group, open the Paragraph dialog window. 3. Set appropriate interlines, below- and above-spacings. 4. From the paragraph toolbar of the Home tab choose the correct alignment 5. Set the margins using the context menu or the sliders in the ruler above the document. To view the rulers, go to the View tab, then tick Ruler in the Show section. page 2 of 5

For setting the indents use the sliders from the Ruler, modify the indent from the toolbar or Tab key press when the cursor is positioned before the first character in the paragraph.
