Having served two terms as President of this Chapter, I know what a big job it is and ask that each and every member support her, the Board, and the Chapter with their time, talents and hands. This is our Chapter - made up of each of us and dedicated to providing professional development opportunities for the membership. But it doesn't work without everyone participating - at the monthly Chapter meetings/luncheons; in seminars, at trade show events, on committees, the Board or as an Officer, as a volunteer, and by providing your input and needs to the Board I have been honored to as President and will always remember the opportunity to serve alongside fellow professionals in the activities and programs of the Chapter, and hopefully to have helped to improve and leave a small fingerprint or two on it. As I have retired from the workforce and now retire as the Chapter President, I 'd like to close this last President's letter by sharing some of my favorite quotes and proverbs that I have collected over the years. Moseley, CPPB, FCPM, FCPA TACNIGP Vice-President I would like to thank our members for supporting me all year as your Vice-President. I have really enjoyed my time serving you and look forward to serving you as President. If you have any ideas for our Chapter as our new year begins please let me know. For our first meeting of the year, 2013, we will have a panel of our peers. If you would like to serve on this panel please let me know within the next week. Please send all of your questions in so that we can have the answers prepared for the January meeting. We will also take some questions from the floor. 4 NOVEMBER MINUTES CHAPTER MEEING TALLAHASSEE AREA CHAPTER OF NIGP, INC. Date: November 13, 2012 Location: Tallahassee/Leon County Civic Center Number in Attendance: 54 Call to Order: President Keith Roberts called the meeting to order at 12:04 p.m. Invocation: Lou Banks Pledge of Allegiance: David Callaway, Dept. of Transportation The first business in order was the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting (October 9, 2012). Byron Saper motioned, motion was duly seconded, and minutes were approved. Officers Reports: 1. President - No Report. 2. Vice President - No Report. 3. Treasurer-No Report. 4. Secretary - No Report. Committee Reports: 1. Nomination Committee Officers and Board of 2013 President - Jessie Moseley Vice-President - Vacant President Elect - Donna Smith Treasurer Nancy Jewett Secretary - Vacant Board Member Gloria Dixon (2 years) Board Member Jason Ouzts (1 year) Board Member Don Tobin (1 year) Unless there are any other nominations from the floor today, this will be an uncontested election. Donna Smith motioned to elect members by acclamation, motion was duly seconded and motion passed. 2. Holiday Committee An exciting venue has been planned for this year s holiday luncheon. New Members and Guest: Katherine Bland, New Member Job Opportunities: None. Charity of Choice for the Holiday Banquet Luncheon Hug-A-Bear (small bears) donations this year will be split between the Leon County Sheriff Department and the Children s Home Society.

5 November Chapter Meeting Page 2 Franklin County Food Drive Food for the Franklin County food drive is being accepted today. If you didn t bring anything cash donations will also be accepted. Make checks out to the TACNIGP and one check will be given from the Chapter. Last month Franklin County workers picked up the goods and distributed to the citizens in need. The food drive will continue through December. Topic: Speaker of the Month was Leisha Fordham from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Ms. Fordham is a Drug Inspector in the Florida Fusion Center. 6 NOVEMBER MINUTES BOARD MEETING TALLAHASSEE AREA CHAPTER OF NIGP, INC. Date: November 6, 2012 Location: Leon County Purchasing Division Members Present: Keith Roberts, President; Jessie Moseley, Vice-President; Don Tobin, Treasurer; Bill Spencer for Sonya Avant, Secretary; Board Members: Nancy Jewett, Gloria Dixon, Jason Ouzts and Donna Smith, Past President Members Absent: Sonya Avant and Ed Valla. A quorum was present and President Roberts called the meeting to order at approximately 4:00 p.m. The first business in order was the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting (October 2, 2012). Vice President Jessie Moseley motioned, motion was duly seconded, and minutes were approved. Officers Reports: 1. President i. Working on the March Seminar. The national educational office is working with the Chapter trying to identify someone to bring in that would be good and if anyone knows of anyone topic for discussion that would be good please let the President know. The plan is to get the word out for the seminar in January Vice President i. Has a speaker for the next general meeting; doesn t have the name of the speaker but he may have switched with another person (Leisha Fordham) from FDLE, the topic will be about K-spice, new synthetic drugs and other different type of drugs. 3. Treasurer i. Provided a Profit and Loss Statement for the period September 11 through November 5, ii. The CPA recommended that the Chapter stay with Quickbooks a copy has been procured. The Profit and Loss Statement is now up to date. Don ordered 2011 Office with the ability to load onto the Chapter s three computers. 4. Secretary Nothing to Report. Committee Reports: 1. Professional Development Vice President Jessie Moseley i. Nothing to report. 2. Holiday Committee Don Tobin i. Will be having a meeting with the Holiday Committee members following this board meeting.

7 November Board Meeting Page 2 Adjourn 3. Nomination Committee Past President Donna Smith i. No changes to the current nominations to date: Jessie Moseley for President Donna Smith for President Elect Nancy Jewett Treasurer Gloria Dixon for two year board member Don Tobin for one year board member Jason Ouzts, tentative, for one year board member Need more board members (three board members short), a vice-president, and a secretary. If a member nominates another member on the floor and the nominated member is not present at the meeting, the Chapter can t accept the nomination. The ballot will have to be moved by acclamation. 1. Civic Center 2013 Agreement i. Civic Center has not yet produced the agreement for next year in response to Keith s call. As such, we don t know what the food prices will be next year, especially since FSU will be taking over the Civic Center. The Board will have to bring this up again next month. 2. Credit Card fees i. Currently the Chapter accepts credit cards and it is charged a $35 month from Authorized.net for a clearinghouse fee. On of top that, we pay a percentage to Hancock bank for merchant services. Don has volunteered the Chapter to be set up in an account with a company called Stripe. One of the original creators who developed PayPal also helped developed this site. Works similar to PayPal. Chapter members will not notice a difference. Payment will continue to go through Chapter Manager, then through Stripe and into Don s checkbook. The Chapter will pay 2.3% plus $.15 per transaction to do credit cards. The $35 monthly charge will go away and there will be no need for a merchant account for receiving monies any more. The funds will go directly into the checking account. Don will keep the Chapter posted. Writing an article for a professional association newsletter brings many great returns; among them are personal satisfaction and recognition, but most of all you have an opportunity to share your accumulated experience, knowledge and wisdom with other TACNIGP members.
