2 [p 129] 16 of April. Spent the day in Treforest and Newbridge with Brother D. John. 17. I traveled from Treforest to Pendoylon(?). 18. Sunday spent the day in Pendoylon Branch. Visited my father s family at night. 19. I visited an old sister in Cowbridge and also went to Ineynyrodyn Branch(?). Had a meeting. 20. Went to Cogg, held a meeting. 21. In Cardiff, had a saint meeting. 22. Went to Treforest. 23. In Treforest. 24. Walked down to Cardiff very late. Slept in New Inn. 25. A council in Cardiff Room and large meeting all day. 26. In Cardiff. 27. Went up to Llandoff Yard. 28. Returned to Cardiff and to Treforest. Had a meeting. 29. In Treforest. 30. Went down to Whitchurch. Had a good meeting. May 1 st. Went down to Cardiff to pack up the books. Brought up the book case also, and returned to Treforest. Sunday 2. A council in the Odd Fellows Hall, Treforest, and large meetings

4 [p 130] all day. Had a good time of it. My mother came in to the 6 o clock meeting and my half brother also. I preached to them for the first time. 3. Monday I went with my mother to the station to see her off home. We had a concert in Treforest Monday night. I sung 2 songs and acted one (namely Nothing At All). Had a good time of it. 4. I went up to Cumsabra(?). Had a good meeting. 5. To the Cymmer(?) had a meeting. I preached in Welsh. 6. In niewbridge a meeting. 7. Walked down to Whitchurch to a saint meeting. May-June-July-August. I spent my time very busy. I could not find time to keep my journal. In this time I visited Monmouthshire Conference and at Swansea and an excursion. August 23. I went to Bristol and I visited the Glacial(?) Gardens. Seen many. Monday seen my sister Hannah she was well. I preached Mormonism to her a little. 31 st. I seen my sister Jane in Penarth [Glamorganshire].

6 [p 131] September 1 st. I came from Cardiff to write a letter to Salt Lake City. Treforest by train. Had a good meeting in Treforest at night. Thursday 2. In my office a writing all day and visited my Brother William at night. Testafied of the Principles of the Gospel to him but he is of a dull apprehension. Friday 3. Spent the day in visiting Brother Matthews and Thomas Davies and James Peard s houses all in Newbridge. Saturday 4. In my office all day writing. I made a Dialogue Between a Parson and a Mormon. Sunday 5. I walked to Llanfabon and preached in a saint meeting at 2 o clock. Returned back to Treforest that night. Preached in Newbridge to saints. Monday 6. At home in the morning. Went to the Cymmer Branch had a saint meeting. Returned to Treforest with E. Richards. Tueday 7 th. Traveled to Pentrych and Cardiff. 8 th. In Cardiff attended a saint meeting. I reproved the Brethren of giving away the governing powers to their wives. 9 Thursday. In Canton writing.

8 [p 132] September 10 Friday. Attended a saint meeting at Whitchurch. At night had a long conversation with Sister Gregory there. She was possessed with a jealous spirit towards Sister Hannah Salmon. She (Sister Gregory) attempted to take the razor to destroy herself with it. Saturday 11. I came back to Cardiff and met President B. Evans and Brother E. T(?) L Harreston and wife at the station. Spent the afternoon with them. Sunday 12. Spent the day as follows: council in the morning, saint meeting afternoon, preaching meeting evening. In company with President B. Evans and E. Harreson. Had a good time of it with them. 13 th Monday. Brother Harreson and wife left for Bristol and President Evans for Aberdare. I stayed in Cardiff. Had a long conversation with Brother Pugh at night. Went for a walk with him. Tuesday 14. In Canton in the morning a writing a letter for Sister Martha White to Mary.

10 [p 133] September 15. I went home to my father s. And found my mother in bed very poorly. And my father quite a cripple. I visited my sister Margaret s house and had a conversation with her husband on Mormonism. 15 Wednesday. I returned to Cardiff. I bade farewell to my father and mother, thinking I should not see them in this life again. They cried very much. I attended a meeting in Cogg Branch this night. All the saints in good feelings. 16 Thursday. Went to Ine Branch. Had an open counsel and Elder Frederick Baker and wife was cut out of the Church. 17. I returned to Cardiff very poor in health. I had a long conversation with Elder Samuel Evans. Met President D. John at night. He stayed with me in Brother Watts cat Canton. His company was very good. We stayed nearly all night. 18. Myself and Brother E. Richards accompanied Brother D. John to the South Wales station. He left for the North of Wales.

12 [p 134] And I took a train for Treforest. 19. Sunday. A district council in Newbridge and meeting at 2 o clock. 20. In Treforest a writing. 21 st. Went up to Cumsabran(?) and a man by the name of Morris was baptized and I confirmed him and ordained him an elder the same night. 22. Attended a meeting at the Cymmer. The most of the folks felt well. 23. Came down to Cardiff stayed over 24 in my office at Canton, 6 George Street. 25. I went up to Treforest. 26. Met with the saints in Brother William Davis house. Came down to Cardiff per last train. Preached in the Cardiff meeting at 6 o clock. 27. In Canton a making up my accounts and forwarded the money to Swansea. 28. Went to Cogg, had a good meeting there. 29. Returned to Cardiff. Preached in meeting. Wednesday night had a good time in company of E. Richard and D. Pugh.

14 [p 135] September 30. Went out to Eli Branch and E. Richard we disorganized Llandoff Branch and Treynyrodon(?) Branch and organized Eli Branch. Made one out fo the two. We walked u to Brother Salmon s, Whitchurch this night. October 1 st. In Whitchurch saint meeting. 2 nd. Walked to Pentrych and Treforest. Stayed there over Sunday. 3 rd. And Monday 4 th until Tuesday 5 th. And this day I moved my box and books and book case down to Canton to Brother John Whatt s. I settled for a room a there for the sum of 2 and 6 per week. At night I attended a little council in Bute Street District with Brother Taylor and Brother White. 6th. In Canton and Cardiff. Saint meeting at night. 7 th. Went up to Llanfabon. Met Brother Richards there. Had a revival meeting. I called on the Brethren to speak their feelings but I reproved one of them (Morgan Jenkins). I told him that he had not spoken his feelings, but had acted the hypocrite part in not doing so

16 [p 136] as he afterwards stated himself. His feelings was that he himself was right and everyone else wrong. His case was dismissed until Council. 8 th. Traveled to Whitchurch, had a meeting with the saints. 9 th. At Cardiff. 10th. Sunday a council at Cardiff. A saint meeting at 2, preaching meeting at 6. We had a good time all day. And in consequence of some being dissatisfied as to where the tithing goes I called upon all such to meet me in the room at 4 o clock and I would inform them where it went. But none came up to know. At night I had a severe toothache. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I spent in Cardiff. President Budge, Evans, and Daniels - 13 they came and left on 14 th. We had a good meeting. 17. I spent the Sunday in Newbridge council and meetings.

18 [p 137] 18 and 19 in Treforest and Cardiff. 20. I went by train to Haverfordwest on a visit stayed there and enjoyed myself first rate until Tuesday. 26. We had a good conference and concert there. I left for Swansea and Glyn-neath and slept at my brother s. And returned to Cardiff Wednesday 27 th. In Cardiff 28, 29, 30, and 31 st. November 1 st in Cardiff. Tuesday 2 nd. Went up to Cumsabra(?) had a good meeting. 3. In Treforest, a saint meeting. 4. In Cardiff practicing The Weather Cook. 5. In Whitchurch. 6. Back to Cardiff. Met Brother D. John at the train. Sunday 7. In Cardiff, and 8 th and 9 th and 10 th. went out to Cogg. 11. to Ely. 12. To Whitchurch had meetings in all these places in company with Brother John. 13 th To Cardiff. 14. to Newbridge. Had a council and a saint meeting. Good times. Brother John and myself and Elder Evan Richards present.
