1 1 2 POWER OF THE BLOOD Matthew 26: And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Intro: Here Jesus gathers his disciples together for the Last Supper. As these men gather around him, he holds up the cup & begins to explain that his blood is the New Covenant & that his blood is sufficient. Where as the blood of goats & bulls for 4000 yrs Did not meet the requirements to cleanse man from sin But HIS BLOOD IS SUFFICIENT. This is what He was talking about when he said that He had come to fulfill the law not do away with it. Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. He did in one selfless loving act did what no other sacrifice had been able to do & would begin a new covenant w/the God of Creation. This was A blood covenant ( promise, pledge, contract) that if anyone would trust in the power of this blood, they would receive REDEMPTION ATONEMENT HEALING PROTECTION DELIVERANCE STRENGTH TRANSFORMATION There is wonder working power in the precious blood of Jesus power to take away the sins of the world.

2 3 4 I. His Blood Has the power to Redeem I am Redeemed, by the blood of the lamb. Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: A. The law was hard; It was almost a curse upon mankind. No one could be pure enough, good enough, holy enough to obey the entire law. B. The law held men in bondage, & showed every imperfection in humanity. C. But the blood of Jesus freed us from the curse of sin & death. Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. D. The law had no completion Today a lamb, tomorrow a dove, next week a goat, the next a bull. It was constantly trying to cover the sins of a nation. The priest had to enter the Holy of Hollies once a year every year to sprinkle blood upon the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant to atone for the sins of the nation of Israel. Atone: (correct, penitence, make amends for) 1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: That one act by Jesus took down the veil of separated of man & God That why he cried It is finished the veil was torn from top to bottom & now man could be redeemed by the New Covenant of The Blood of Jesus. And now man is no longer separated from the presence of God by this blood. Hebrews 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. 19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, - This is the wonder working power in the blood of the lamb

3 5 6 II. His Blood has the Power to Transform A. It is the blood of Jesus that when it is applied to our lives it has the power to make the worse, vilest sinners, & transforms them body soul & spirit into a new creature formed in the image of God s Holiness. Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself w/out spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? B. Saul, a murderer, than tried to destroy the church of the living God had an encounter w/the power of that blood & was forever transformed into Paul, an apostle of Christ 2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. III. His Blood has The Power To Give Life A. Blood is our source of life; w/out it going through our veins life will cease in this physical body. B. You cannot survive without blood C. W/out the blood of Christ applied to our spirit & soul we are bound for the second death Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, & unbelieving, & the abominable, & murderers, & whoremongers, & sorcerers, & idolaters, & all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth w/fire & brimstone: which is the second death. D. Life, more abundant can only be found in the power of His blood. D. There is no soul so gone that the power of the blood can t transform that sinful nature into desiring for the holiness of God Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

4 7 8 IV. His Blood Has The Power To Heal & Protect A. Whenever a virus attacks our physical body & begins to make us sick, our blood begins to fight w/all that it has attacking the virus w/white blood cells. B. When the enemy of your soul rises up against you, the blood of our Lord & Savior covers us like a shield & that enemy that would destroy our soul is repealed Reversed, Revoked, Renounced F. This is when the blood of Jesus wraps around our Spirit & Soul to protect & bring healing to our hurts in our lives G. The wound may be tinder for a while & may leave a scare but the blood of Jesus is always at work in the middle of the hurts bring protection & healing. C. Why? Because There Is Wonder Working Power In the Blood of the Lamb. D. When your body receives an injury, a cut, your blood does this wonderful thing to protect you from infection IT FORMS A SCAB. E. Many times in this life we live & suffer from different kind of attacks upon our spirit. - A word that was said cuts like a knife into the heart - A selfish act that almost destroys you emotionally - An attack from Satan condemning your soul

5 9 10 V. His Blood has the Power To Deliver A. It is the power of the blood of Jesus that breaks the yoke of bondage of sin from our lives B. He doesn t just forgive us & leave us to fight the devil but by the power of the blood of Christ we experience freedom from sin. Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. C. What ever Satan has wrapped around your life & seems to be choking the very life out of you with: - The Blood of Christ you can break & be set free D. But not just to deliver but to OVERCOME. Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. VI. His Blood is Still Powerful Today A. He s Blood is still saving sinners, setting captives free today B. His Blood is still sufficient ILL. This microphone has the power to amplify my voice. But after a couple services We have to take out the battery & replace it w/a fresh one w/a full charge. The blood of Jesus will never need to be replaced nor recharged in our lives. Ill. A family was involved in a serious accident. Mike, the younger of two brothers involved, was badly injured and needed a blood transfusion. Mike s big brother, Danny, who was almost eight, was the perfect blood type. His father sat down with him and explained that his little brother was going to die but if Danny would give his little brother some blood that mike would be just fine. Danny sat and thought for a minute and then said o.k. Dad I will do this for my brother. They took Danny into the operating room and hooked up the needle to his arm and the blood from his body began to flow to his little brother. Everything had gone wonderfully and the nurse removed the needle from little Danny s arm.

6 11 -Danny with a tear in his eye looked at his father & said, WHEN DO I DIE? -The father suddenly realized w/a shock that Danny had misunderstood his explanation of giving blood. -Danny thought he was giving all of his blood to save the life of his little brother! -He thought that he would die after the transfusion was over. -Yet he still had agreed to help his little brother. WHAT LOVE, WHAT A SACRIFICE, WHAT A GIFT OF LIFE, WHAT BLOOD. Have you experienced the wonder working power of the blood of the Lamb?
