Morris, President, Ladies Auxiliary MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE KNIGHTS & LADIES, November begins the Christmas season and time for family parties, which is also a time to see if we can find new members. It is time to show what the Knights are all about. We have to work in the upcoming months to find new members. We have a giant goal in membership this coming year. I would like to wish the Knights and Ladies a very Happy Thanksgiving. GRAND KNIGHT S MESSAGE Dear Brother Knights, I would like to thank all of you for being members of our Council. I would like to bring to your attention as Knights of our Council you should be aware of what our Council activities are and the greatly appreciated help that we need for these activities. In order for this to work it would be greatly appreciated for you to attend some of our meetings and to be an active participant, and maybe bring us some new ideas on how we can raise funds for our charitable donations and maybe be in charge of some of those functions. I know it is not easy for those of us who work, I myself work 40 hours a week and have a family but I find the time to be an active participant in this council. We have 212 Active and Honorary Life members about 22 or so Knights attend these meetings of those 22 the Council Officers comprise about half so I think you can see the need to have more members attend. Our meetings are once a month on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM at WG s Banquet Hall off W. Oklahoma Av. On S. 103 St. and last about an hour and a half. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE, GOD BLESS GK David Mohrbacker Support our "Food for Families" Program Thanks to you, or container is full, and a location to receive the food will be determined at our Council meeting on November 10th. THANK YOU!! Keep everyone in your prayers May God Bless and keep you safe PKN Bob Butler 3

5 A Special Message from the Council Field Agent: Long-Term Care Plans Offer Peace of Mind Since its addition to the Order s product portfolio in 2000, long-term care (LTC) insurance has provided the Knights of Columbus with an excellent opportunity to further serve members and their families. And, for our long-term care policy holders in the United States, there s an added bonus. It s called Provider Pathway, a program offering access to a network of long-term care providers at discounted rates. The network includes discounts on products, such as hearing aids, diabetic supplies, personal emergency response systems, and durable medical equipment, as well as skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, and adult day care. Eligibility for participation in this program is open to Knights of Columbus long-term care insurance policyholders, their spouses, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law. All providers are fully credentialed and meet state licensing requirements. If you haven t yet spoken with me about long-term care insurance, you owe it to yourself to do so. There are a few decisions to make in choosing a plan a comprehensive plan that covers care whether you re at home or in a facility, or one that covers facility only; daily benefit amounts and benefit durations (how much and how long it will last); and the length of the elimination period (waiting period) before benefits kick-in. Having a professionally trained Field Agent and a brother Knight you can trust to help guide you through the process is yet another valuable benefit that comes with your membership. Take advantage of it; contact me today. Vocations Article The Sisters of Life is a contemplative/apostolic community founded in Women profess vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and a special fourth vow to protect and enhance the sacredness of every human life. Indeed all their prayers and works, their very lives, are offered that the life of every human person is protected and prized as an icon of the living God. They invite pregnant women to live with them in their Manhattan convent to receive emotional, spiritual and material support before and after the child s birth. The sisters receive much help from a network of lay Co-Workers of Life who share professional skills and open their homes and their hearts in friendship and healing. Sister Mary V. Schmidt nicely elaborates: It is dark outside when we gather for Morning Prayer; we hear the muted footsteps of other sisters arriving in chapel. A holy presence is there as we meet with such fidelity each day - the chanted psalms and prayerful faith-sharing never seem to grow old. This is the place where our whole neighborhood worships. soon after prayer ends the door bell rings and we welcome the first of those for whom and on whose behalf we have been praying.and so our day begins. Roger Leto, Vocations A December Packer Party is being considered & we need volunteers to help organize and work this event. Contact Chairman Joe Kocinski if you can volunteer your time or if you know of any organizations that would donate items for our in house raffle. Fraternally, Patrick LaPointe Field Agent Joe Kocinski's contact # is If no volunteers. then no Packer Party will take place in December. 5
6 A Message from our WI Knights of Columbus State Director for the Culture of Life Program = Dan Miller Praised be Jesus Christ! It is my great pleasure to introduce another Ultrasound Initiative opportunity for the great state of Wisconsin! CareNet 2917 N. Oakland Avenue Milwaukee, WI Executive Director Rachel Schepp carenetmilwaukee@gmail.com A CareNet-Milwaukee board member, Laura Brown and I are friends on Facebook, as well as in real life. One day, she mentioned in a post on Facebook her desire to help find the extra funds to obtain a new ultrasound machine for their location nestled between Riverside High School and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus. The machine they own is over 25 years old and updating it to today s standards was even more expensive than purchasing a new one. She was completely unaware of the Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Initiative so I filled her in! I told her that thus far, the WI-KofC have purchased 20 ultrasound machines and have FOUR in the hopper! She said, "You are kidding me, right?" "No! True story!" I said. "When can we get together to talk about this?" She asked. So, we scheduled a meeting right after the protest PP rally in Waukesha, where she spoke publicly about her abortion, which actually started at the very Planned Parenthood we were standing in front of. She wondered how it works so I told her, "All you have to do is find a KofC council that is willing to undertake the project." She wondered out loud, "How do I find a local council to get involved? I m not even Catholic! I wouldn t even know where to start!" I told her, "Don t worry about that. I ll help you find one." Tears welled up in her eyes. "I had no idea there was this kind of help out there for pregnancy centers like ours. I can t believe I m hearing you say all these wonderful things!" I replied, "Well don t count your chickens just yet, but I m going to do everything I can to help you find a KofC council, or a group of them, who are up to the task. It s a lot of work, but our guys love doing projects like this. They know their work will help to save many lives through this program, so they make sacrifices and go the extra mile, because lives and souls are at stake." The goal is to put at least ONE ultrasound machine in every county of this state. Yes, we have several machines in Milwaukee County so far, but let s face it Milwaukee is the belly of the beast, accounting for 43% of all Wisconsin abortions. The higher the chance that a young, pregnant mother can get the help she needs in Milwaukee County the higher the chance of her choosing life. It s that simple. Did I mention the fact that 97% of all pregnant woman who seek help at a pregnancy resource center and see an ultrasound of their baby, choose life? The math is very simple here. Your money is well spent on an ultrasound machine. Period. So. Who s in?! Take this to your council and pray on it. It doesn t matter if you are in Milwaukee or in Rhinelander. Team up with another area council! It can be done! So, let s do it! Ultrasound #25! Will it have your council s name on it? Knights of Columbus, LET S ROLL! Call me when you d like to get involved! Through Christ, Dan Miller State Coordinator Culture of Life Committee - State Council Knights of Columbus
