1 2012 Primary Program Prelude Music by: Narration: And it came to pass in the days of President Thomas S. Monson that a decree went out to the world calling all Primary children to share with their families and friends all they were learning through song, scripture and testimony, that their parents might be brought to the knowledge of the importance of this work. And that through their faithfulness, each child, parent and Primary teacher might reap the blessings that come through service, participation and good behavior AGENCY IS A GIFT TO CHOOSE FOR OURSELVES SONG: As a Child of God, pg. 28 in outline (Primary sings 1st and 3rd verses; sing 2nd) : Wherefore men are free to choose liberty and have eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men. 2 Nephi 2:27 : Agency is an important part of God s plan. We even had it before we came to earth! : Agency is a gift that lets us choose for ourselves. : When we make good choices, it leads us to freedom and happiness. : Every choice comes with a consequence. : In the premortal life, I chose to follow God s plan. : I chose to come to the earth and receive a body. : I chose to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. : Jesus Christ created the earth as a place where I can learn to choose the right. : When we choose the right, we are blessed. WHEN WE CHOOSE THE RIGHT, WE ARE BLESSED SONG: Choose the Right, hymn 239 : If ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you. Mosiah 2:22 : Please tell the story of Noah and how he was blessed for choosing the right. Genesis 6 & 7

2 : Jesus disciples were blessed for choosing the right. : Please tell the story of Mary from Luke 10: and how she chose the right and followed Jesus. : Nephi was blessed for choosing the right. Many of the blessings we receive are the consequences of making good choices. : Just like Nephi, the blessings we receive are the consequences for the good choices we make. LIVING PROPHETS TEACH ME TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SONG: Stand for the Right, CS pg. 159 : O, remember, my son, and learn wisdom in thy youth; yea learn in thy youth to keep the commandments of God. Alma 37:35 : God speaks through living prophets. : The First Presidency and Twelve Apostles are prophets. : God s prophets and apostles speak to us in General Conference. : I am blessed when I choose to follow the prophet. JESUS CHRIST TEACHES ME TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SONG: Tell Me the Stories of Jesus, 57 : For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. John 13:15 : Jesus Christ is the perfect example for me. : He showed us the way to be baptized and how to show love for others. : Jesus forgave those who hurt Him and showed us how to pray. : Jesus Christ taught me the right way to live. : I feel my Savior s love when I try to be like Jesus. I CHOOSE THE RIGHT WHEN I AM BAPTIZED AND CONFIRMED A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH SONG: When I am Baptized CS 103 (CTR 7s sing; girls wear their baptism dresses)

3 : Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 : As I repent, I can be forgiven. : When I am baptized and confirmed, I will be following Jesus example. : Talk about some things that you are doing now to prepare to be baptized. : The Holy Ghost can help me. He comforts us, testifies of Jesus Christ, teaches us and helps us do good. : When we take the sacrament, we can renew our baptismal covenants. I CHOOSE THE RIGHT BY LIVING GOSPEL PRINCIPLES SONG: Nephi s Courage CS 120 (Verses 1 & 2?) : I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them. 1 Nephi 3:17 : I pray to Heavenly Father for the strength to do what is right. : Share an experience where Heavenly Father has given you strength to do what is right. : When I pay my tithing, Heavenly Father will bless me. : Temples, meetinghouses and hymn books are just a few blessings that come from paying our tithing. : There are other blessings that come from paying our tithing that cannot be seen. 3 rd Nephi 24:10 says, Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in my house; and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it. : Another gospel principle is the Word of Wisdom. I obey the Word of Wisdom by eating and drinking good things and avoiding those things that are bad. : We need to treat our bodies like temples. When I dress modestly, I respect my body as a gift from God.

4 : Share an experience in which you chose the right by living one of the following priniciples: paying tithing, obeying the Word of Wisdom, praying or dressing modestly. SONG: I Want to Live the Gospel, 148 The Sunbeams will make and hold signs with pictures depicting the following lines. They will hold them up while someone reads the line. : Wherefore, let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord. 1 Nephi 3:16 : Fasting and prayer can strengthen my testimony. : Fasting and prayer are powerful when we use them together. : Be ye kind to one another. Ephesians 4:32 : Being kind is doing and saying nice things to others. : Reverence is deep respect and love toward God. : Honesty is telling the truth no matter what the consequences are. I CHOOSE TO FILL MY LIFE WITH THINGS THAT INVITE THE SPIRIT SONG: (duet-two Primary children): "I Will Follow God's Plan for Me" : If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things. Article of Faith #13 : Making and keeping good friends will help me choose the right. : Share a time when a good friend has helped you choose the right. : I should read, listen to, and look at things that are pleasing to Heavenly Father. : If we make wrong choices, we will lose the Spirit. : Share how you feel when you read, listen to and look at things that are pleasing to God. : I should do things on the Sabbath that will help me stay close to Heavenly Father. : Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8 : Share some ideas of how we can keep the Sabbath day holy.

5 : Tell the story of when the Israelites we given manna by the Lord and how they kept the Sabbath day holy. : Just as Heavenly Father rested on the 7 th day, He gave us the Sabbath, that we might also have rest from the world. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS TEACH ME TO LOVE GOD AND HIS CHILDREN SONG: Third verse of Nephi s Courage (Valiant boys sing) : If thou lovest me thou shalt serve me and keep all of my commandments. Doctrine and Covenants 42: 29 : We are blessed when we keep the commandments. : We should respect and worship God, honor our parents and respect others. : I can respect and worship God by not taking the Lord s name in vain and remembering the Sabbath day. : I can honor my parents by listening to them, showing the respect by obeying and helping them in our home. : I can respect others by recognizing that everyone is important and by being honest with everyone I meet. I CAN CHOOSE TO BE A MISSIONARY NOW SONG: The Church of Jesus Christ, 77 : And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15 : When we serve others, we are also serving Heavenly Father. : I can be a missionary by setting a good example. : When we are good examples, we are being missionaries and our example can help others want to learn more about Jesus Christ. : I can teach my friends about Jesus Christ and His Church. : I can prepare now to serve a mission by reading my scriptures and strengthening my testimony. 6 SONG: The Fifth Article of Faith, 125 (Primary child sings) : And also all they who receive this priesthood receive me, saith the Lord. (Doctrine and Covenants 84:35 : Worth young men receive the priesthood when they are twelve years old. : We receive the ordinances of salvation through the priesthood. : The priesthood is like an umbrella. All those who are under an umbrella stay dry. Likewise, all who stay close to the priesthood receive its blessings. : I can receive strengthening power through priesthood blessings. : I can go to the temple to receive ordinances for my ancestors when I am older. : As I get older and receive the priesthood, I have the opportunity to bless the lives of my family and myself. JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD SONG: I m trying to be like Jesus? : Doctrine and Covenants 11:28 reads, Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the light and the life of the world. Please share your feelings about the Savior in a short 1-2 minute talk. : Jesus Christ is the light and life of the world. Please share your testimony/feelings about how Christ helps you face challenges.
