1 36 TH OOK OF RHM In the lnd of the hldens, t the residene of my fthers, I, rhm, sw tht it ws needful for me to otin nother ple of residene; 2 nd, finding there ws greter hppiness nd pee nd rest for me, I sought for the lessings of the fthers, nd the right whereunto I should e ordined to dminister the sme; hving een myself follower of righteousness, desiring lso to e one who possessed gret knowledge, nd to e greter follower of righteousness, nd to possess greter knowledge, nd to e fther of mny ntions, prine of pee, nd desiring to reeive instrutions, nd to keep the ommndments of God, I eme rightful heir, High Priest, holding the right elonging to the fthers. 3 It ws onferred upon me from the fthers; it me down from the fthers, d from the eginning of time, ye, even from the eginning, or efore the foundtion of the erth to the present time, even the right of the firstorn, or the first mn, who is dm, or first fther, through the fthers unto me. 4 I sought for mine ppointment unto the Priesthood ording to the ppointment of God unto the fthers onerning the seed. 5 My fthers hving turned from their righteousness, nd from the holy ommndments whih the Lord their God hd given unto them, unto the worshiping of the gods of the hethen, utterly refused to herken to my voie; 6 d For their herts were set to do evil, nd were wholly turned to the god of lkenh, nd the god of Linh, nd the god of Mhmkrh, nd the god of Korsh, nd the god of Phroh, king of gypt; 7

2 rhm 1 37 Therefore they turned their herts to the srifie of the hethen in offering up their hildren unto these dum idols, nd herkened not unto my voie, d ut endevored to tke wy my life y the hnd of the priest of lkenh. The priest of lkenh ws lso the priest of Phroh. 8 e Now, t this time it ws the ustom of the priest of Phroh, the king of gypt, to offer up upon the ltr whih ws uilt in the lnd of hlde, for the offering unto these strnge gods, men, women, nd hildren. 9 nd it me to pss tht the priest mde n offering unto the god of Phroh, nd lso unto the god of Shgreel, even fter the mnner of the gyptins. Now the god of Shgreel ws the sun. 10 ven the thnk-offering of hild did the priest of Phroh offer upon the ltr whih stood y the hill lled Potiphr's Hill, t the hed of the plin of Olishem. 11 Now, this priest hd offered upon this ltr three virgins t one time, who were the dughters of Onith, one of the royl desent diretly from the loins of Hm. 4 rhm 1 39 Now the first government of gypt ws estlished y Phroh, the eldest son of gyptus, the dughter of Hm, nd it ws fter the mnner of the government of Hm, whih ws ptrirhl. 26 Phroh, eing righteous mn, estlished his kingdom nd judged his people wisely nd justly ll his dys, i seeking ernestly to imitte tht order estlished y the fthers in the first genertions, in the dys of the first ptrirhl reign, even in the reign of dm, nd lso of Noh, his fther, ii who lessed him with the lessings of the erth, nd with the lessings of wisdom, ii ut ursed him s pertining to the Priesthood. 27 i Now, Phroh eing of tht linege y whih he ould not hve the right of Priesthood, notwithstnding the Phrohs would fin lim it from Noh, through Hm, therefore my fther ws led wy y their idoltry; 28 ut I shll endevor, herefter, to delinete the hronology running k from myself to the eginning of the retion, for the reords hve ome into my hnds, whih I hold unto this present time. 29 Now, fter the priest of lkenh ws smitten tht he died, there me fulfilment of those things whih were sid unto me onerning the lnd of hlde, tht there should e fmine in the lnd. 30 ordingly fmine previled throughout ll the lnd of hlde, nd my fther ws sorely tormented euse of the fmine, nd he repented of the evil whih he hd determined ginst me, to tke wy my life. 31 ut the reords of the fthers, even the ptrirhs, onerning the right of Priesthood, the Lord my God preserved in mine own hnds; therefore knowledge of the eginning of the retion, nd lso of the plnets, nd of the strs, s they were mde known unto the fthers, hve I kept even unto this dy, nd I shll endevor to write some of these things upon this reord, for the enefit of my posterity tht shll ome fter me. 2:1 Now the Lord God used the fmine to wx sore in the lnd of Ur, insomuh tht Hrn, my rother, died; ut Terh, my fther, yet lived in the lnd of Ur, of the hldees. 2 nd it me to pss tht I, rhm, took Sri to wife, nd Nehor, my rother, took Milh to wife, who ws the dughter of Hrn. 3 Now the Lord hd sid unto me: rhm, get thee out of thy ountry, nd from thy kindred, nd from thy fther's house, unto lnd tht I will show thee. 4

6 rhm 2 41 So I, rhm, deprted s the Lord hd sid unto me, nd Lot with me; nd I, rhm, ws sixty nd two yers old when I deprted out of Hrn. 15 nd I took Sri, whom I took to wife when I ws in Ur, in hlde, nd Lot, my rother's son, nd ll our sustne tht we hd gthered, nd the souls tht we hd won in Hrn, nd me forth in the wy to the lnd of nn, nd dwelt in tents s we me on our wy; 16 Therefore, eternity ws our overing nd our rok nd our slvtion, s we journeyed from Hrn y the wy of Jershon, to ome to the lnd of nn. 17 Now I, rhm, uilt n ltr in the lnd of Jershon, nd mde n offering unto the Lord, nd pryed tht the fmine might e turned wy from my fther's house, tht they might not perish. 18 nd then we pssed from Jershon through the lnd unto the ple of Sehem; it ws situted in the plins of Moreh, nd we hd lredy ome into the orders of the lnd of the nnites, nd I offered srifie there in the plins of Moreh, nd lled on the Lord devoutly, euse we hd lredy ome into the lnd of this idoltrous ntion. 19 nd the Lord ppered unto me in nswer to my pryers, nd sid unto me: Unto thy seed will I give this lnd. 20 nd I, rhm, rose from the ple of the ltr whih I hd uilt unto the Lord, nd removed from thene unto mountin on the est of ethel, nd pithed my tent there, ethel on the west, nd Hi on the est; nd there I uilt nother ltr unto the Lord, nd lled gin upon the nme of the Lord. 21 nd I, rhm, journeyed, going on still towrds the south; nd there ws ontinution of fmine in the lnd; nd I, rhm, onluded to go down into gypt, to sojourn there, for the fmine eme very grievous. 22 nd it me to pss when I ws ome ner to enter into gypt, the Lord sid unto me: ehold, Sri, thy wife, is very fir womn to look upon; 23 Therefore it shll ome to pss, when the gyptins shll see her, they will sy--she is his wife; nd they will kill you, ut they will sve her live; therefore see tht ye do on this wise: 24 Let her sy unto the gyptins, she is thy sister, nd thy soul shll live. 25 nd it me to pss tht I, rhm, told Sri, my wife, ll tht the Lord hd sid unto me--therefore sy unto them, I pry thee, thou rt my sister, tht it my e well with me for thy ske, nd my soul shll live euse of thee. 3:1 nd I, rhm, hd the Urim nd Thummim, whih the Lord my God hd given unto me, in Ur of the hldees; 2 nd I sw the strs, tht they were very gret, nd tht one of them ws nerest unto the throne of God; nd there were mny gret ones whih were ner unto it; 3 nd the Lord sid unto me: These re the governing ones; nd the nme of the gret one is Kolo, euse it is ner unto me, for I m the Lord thy God: I hve set this one to govern ll those whih elong to the sme order s tht upon whih thou stndest. 4

7 42 rhm 3 nd the Lord sid unto me, y the Urim nd Thummim, tht Kolo ws fter the mnner of the Lord, ording to its times nd sesons in the revolutions thereof; tht one revolution ws dy unto the Lord, fter his mnner of rekoning, it eing one thousnd yers ording to the time ppointed unto tht whereon thou stndest. This is the rekoning of the Lord's time, ording to the rekoning of Kolo. 5 nd the Lord sid unto me: The plnet whih is the lesser light, lesser thn tht whih is to rule the dy, even the night, is ove or greter thn tht upon whih thou stndest in point of rekoning, for it moveth in order more slow; this is in order euse it stndeth ove the erth upon whih thou stndest, therefore the rekoning of its time is not so mny s to its numer of dys, nd of months, nd of yers. 6 nd the Lord sid unto me: Now, rhm, these two fts exist, ehold thine eyes see it; it is given unto thee to know the times of rekoning, nd the set time, ye, the set time of the erth upon whih thou stndest, nd the set time of the greter light whih is set to rule the dy, nd the set time of the lesser light whih is set to rule the night. 7 Now the set time of the lesser light is longer time s to its rekoning thn the rekoning of the time of the erth upon whih thou stndest. 8 nd where these two fts exist, there shll e nother ft ove them, tht is, there shll e nother plnet whose rekoning of time shll e longer still; 9 nd thus there shll e the rekoning of the time of one plnet ove nother, until thou ome nigh unto Kolo, whih Kolo is fter the rekoning of the Lord's time; whih Kolo is set nigh unto the throne of God, to govern ll those plnets whih elong to the sme order s tht upon whih thou stndest. 10 nd it is given unto thee to know the set time of ll the strs tht re set to give light, until thou ome ner unto the throne of God. 11 Thus I, rhm, tlked with the Lord, fe to fe, s one mn tlketh with nother; nd he told me of the works whih his hnds hd mde; 12 nd he sid unto me: My son, my son (nd his hnd ws strethed out), ehold I will show you ll these.

8 rhm 3 43 nd he put his hnd upon mine eyes, nd I sw those things whih his hnds hd mde, whih were mny; nd they multiplied efore mine eyes, nd I ould not see the end thereof. 13 nd he sid unto me: This is Shinehh, whih is the sun. nd he sid unto me: Koko, whih is str. nd he sid unto me: Ole, whih is the moon. nd he sid unto me: Kokuem whih signifies strs, or ll the gret lights, whih were in the firmment of heven. 14 nd it ws in the night time when the Lord spke these words unto me: I will multiply thee, nd thy seed fter thee, like unto these; nd if thou nst ount the numer of snds, so shll e the numer of thy seeds. 15 nd the Lord sid unto me: rhm, I show these things unto thee efore ye go into gypt, tht ye my delre ll these words. 16 If two things exist, nd there e one ove the other, there shll e greter things ove them; therefore Kolo is the gretest of ll the Kokuem tht thou hst seen, euse it is nerest unto me. 17 Now, if there e two things, one ove the other, nd the moon e ove the erth, then it my e tht plnet or str my exist ove it; nd there is nothing tht the Lord thy God shll tke in his hert to do ut wht he will do it. 18 Howeit tht he mde the greter str; s, lso, if there e two spirits, nd one shll e more intelligent thn the other, yet these two spirits, notwithstnding one is more intelligent thn the other, hve no eginning; they existed efore, they shll hve no end, they shll exist fter, for they re gnolum, or eternl. 19 nd the Lord sid unto me: These two fts do exist, tht there re two spirits, one eing more intelligent thn the other; there shll e nother more intelligent thn they; I m the Lord thy God, I m more intelligent thn they ll. 20 The Lord thy God sent his ngel to deliver thee from the hnds of the priest of lkenh. 21

9 44 rhm 3 I dwell in the midst of them ll; I now, therefore, hve ome down unto thee to deliver unto thee the works whih my hnds hve mde, wherein my wisdom exelleth them ll, for I rule in the hevens ove, nd in the erth eneth, in ll wisdom nd prudene, over ll the intelligenes thine eyes hve seen from the eginning; I me down in the eginning in the midst of ll the intelligenes thou hst seen. 22 Now the Lord hd shown unto me, rhm, the intelligenes tht were orgnized efore the world ws; nd mong ll these there were mny of the nole nd gret ones; 23 nd God sw these souls tht they were good, nd he stood in the midst of them, d nd he sid: These I will mke my rulers; for he stood mong those tht were spirits, nd he sw tht they were good; nd he sid unto me: rhm, thou rt one of them; thou wst hosen efore thou wst orn. 24 nd there stood one mong them tht ws like unto God, nd he sid unto those who were with him: We will go down, for there is spe there, nd we will tke of these mterils, nd we will mke n erth whereon these my dwell; 25 nd we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do ll things whtsoever the Lord their God shll ommnd them; 26 nd they who keep their first estte shll e dded upon; nd they who keep not their first estte shll not hve glory in the sme kingdom with those who keep their first estte; nd they who keep their seond estte shll hve glory dded upon their heds for ever nd ever. 27 nd the Lord sid: Whom shll I send? nd one nswered like unto the Son of Mn: Here m I, send me. nd nother nswered nd sid: Here m I, send me. nd the Lord sid: I will send the first. 28 nd the seond ws ngry, nd kept not his first estte; nd, t tht dy, mny followed fter him. 4:1 nd then the Lord sid: Let us go down.

10 rhm 4 45 nd they went down t the eginning, nd they, tht is the Gods, orgnized nd formed the hevens nd the erth. 2 nd the erth, fter it ws formed, ws empty nd desolte, euse they hd not formed nything ut the erth; nd drkness reigned upon the fe of the deep, nd the Spirit of the Gods ws rooding upon the fe of the wters. 3 nd they (the Gods) sid: Let there e light; nd there ws light. 4 nd they (the Gods) omprehended the light, for it ws right; nd they divided the light, or used it to e divided, from the drkness. 5 nd the Gods lled the light y, nd the drkness they lled Night. nd it me to pss tht from the evening until morning they lled night; nd from the morning until the evening they lled dy; nd this ws the first, or the eginning, of tht whih they lled dy nd night. 6 nd the Gods lso sid: Let there e n expnse in the midst of the wters, nd it shll divide the wters from the wters. 7 nd the Gods ordered the expnse, so tht it divided the wters whih were under the expnse from the wters whih were ove the expnse; nd it ws so, even s they ordered. 8 nd the Gods lled the expnse, Heven. nd it me to pss tht it ws from evening until morning tht they lled night; nd it me to pss tht it ws from morning until evening tht they lled dy; nd this ws the seond time tht they lled night nd dy. 9 nd the Gods ordered, sying: Let the wters under the heven e gthered together unto one ple, nd let the erth ome up dry; nd it ws so s they ordered; 10 nd the Gods pronouned the dry lnd, rth; nd the gthering together of the wters, pronouned they, Gret Wters; nd the Gods sw tht they were oeyed. 11 nd the Gods sid: Let us prepre the erth to ring forth grss; the her yielding seed; the fruit tree yielding fruit, fter his kind, whose seed in itself yieldeth its own likeness upon the erth; nd it ws so, even s they ordered. 12

11 46 rhm 4 nd the Gods orgnized the erth to ring forth grss from its own seed, nd the her to ring forth her from its own seed, yielding seed fter his kind; nd the erth to ring forth the tree from its own seed, yielding fruit, whose seed ould only ring forth the sme in itself, fter his kind; nd the Gods sw tht they were oeyed. 13 nd it me to pss tht they numered the dys; from the evening until the morning they lled night; nd it me to pss, from the morning until the evening they lled dy; nd it ws the third time. 14 nd the Gods orgnized the lights in the expnse of the heven, nd used them to divide the dy from the night; nd orgnized them to e for signs nd for sesons, nd for dys nd for yers; 15 nd orgnized them to e for lights in the expnse of the heven to give light upon the erth; nd it ws so. 16 nd the Gods orgnized the two gret lights, the greter light to rule the dy, nd the lesser light to rule the night; with the lesser light they set the strs lso; 17 nd the Gods set them in the expnse of the hevens, to give light upon the erth, nd to rule over the dy nd over the night, nd to use to divide the light from the drkness. 18 nd the Gods wthed those things whih they hd ordered until they oeyed. 19 nd it me to pss tht it ws from evening until morning tht it ws night; nd it me to pss tht it ws from morning until evening tht it ws dy; nd it ws the fourth time. 20 nd the Gods sid: Let us prepre the wters to ring forth undntly the moving retures tht hve life; nd the fowl, tht they my fly ove the erth in the open expnse of heven. 21 nd the Gods prepred the wters tht they might ring forth gret whles, nd every living reture tht moveth, whih the wters were to ring forth undntly fter their kind; nd every winged fowl fter their kind. nd the Gods sw tht they would e oeyed, nd tht their pln ws good. 22 nd the Gods sid: We will less them, nd use them to e fruitful nd multiply, nd fill the wters in the ses or gret wters; nd use the fowl to multiply in the erth. 23 nd it me to pss tht it ws from evening until morning tht they lled night; nd it me to pss tht it ws from morning until evening tht they lled dy; nd it ws the fifth time. 24 nd the Gods prepred the erth to ring forth the living reture fter his kind, ttle nd reeping things, nd ests of the erth fter their kind; nd it ws so, s they hd sid. 25

12 rhm 4 47 nd the Gods orgnized the erth to ring forth the ests fter their kind, nd ttle fter their kind, nd every thing tht reepeth upon the erth fter its kind; nd the Gods sw they would oey. 26 nd the Gods took ounsel mong themselves nd sid: Let us go down nd form mn in our imge, fter our likeness; nd we will give them dominion over the fish of the se, nd over the fowl of the ir, nd over the ttle, nd over ll the erth, nd over every reeping thing tht reepeth upon the erth. 27 So the Gods went down to orgnize mn in their own imge, in the imge of the Gods to form they him, mle nd femle to form they them. 28 nd the Gods sid: We will less them. nd the Gods sid: We will use them to e fruitful nd multiply, nd replenish the erth, nd sudue it, nd to hve dominion over the fish of the se, nd over the fowl of the ir, nd over every living thing tht moveth upon the erth. 29 nd the Gods sid: ehold, we will give them every her ering seed tht shll ome upon the fe of ll the erth, nd every tree whih shll hve fruit upon it; ye, the fruit of the tree yielding seed to them we will give it; it shll e for their met. 30 nd to every est of the erth, nd to every fowl of the ir, nd to every thing tht reepeth upon the erth, ehold, we will give them life, nd lso we will give to them every green her for met, nd ll these things shll e thus orgnized. 31 nd the Gods sid: We will do everything tht we hve sid, nd orgnize them; nd ehold, they shll e very oedient. nd it me to pss tht it ws from evening until morning they lled night; nd it me to pss tht it ws from morning until evening tht they lled dy; nd they numered the sixth time. 5:1 nd thus we will finish the hevens nd the erth, nd ll the hosts of them. 2
