1 Descendants of Henry Taylor Wiseman By Nyla CREED DePauk Based on the 1850 and 1860 Monroe County, Virginia, Federal censuses, Henry Taylor Wiseman was born between June 28 and July 28, 1813, probably in Monroe County, Virginia. Henry died after 1891, probably in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. On February 12, 1834, in Monroe County, Virginia, Henry and Nancy Weikle were united in marriage by Alfred Buhrman, Minister of the Gospel. Surety was Isaac Wiseman. Nancy was born May 15, 1810, in Monroe County, Virginia. She died March 04, 1882, in Raleigh County, West Virginia. She is buried at the cemetery above the Mattsville Community Church, Sandlick, Raleigh County, West Virginia. Nancy s parents were George C. Weikle, Sr., and Mary Magdalena Michael. Henry married second Elizabeth Ann Thomas who was born about 1830 in Greenbrier County, Virginia. They were married May 6, 1890, in Raleigh County, by Lafayette Kidd at the home of Wilson Wiseman. Information was provided by George L Wiseman. Elizabeth was first married to James Bowyer, born about 1829 in Virginia, on December 25, 1849, in Fayette County, West Virginia. They had at least two children: Henry Bowyer was born about Walter P. Bowyer was born in March Walter married Virginia McDowell, born in April 1861, on January 8, 1879 Summers County. Henry and Nancy s children: 1. Mary Jane Wiseman was born about September 1834 at Drooping Lick, Monroe County, Virginia. She died March 20, 1923, Mattsville, Raleigh County, West Virginia. On either July 31, 1856 or August 7, 1856, at Wolf Creek, Monroe County, Virginia, Mary Jane and Lorenzo Dow Atha were married by the Reverend Alfred Buhrman. I suspect the marriage license was obtained on July 31, and they were actually married on August 7. This needs to be clarified. Lorenzo Dow Atha was born about 1829, near Cross Roads, Monroe County, Virginia. He died February 15 or 20, 1899 at Mattsville, Raleigh County, West Virginia. I am not sure which date is correct since I have seen both dates recorded. Lorenzo was the son of Addison Wesley Atha and Frances "Fanny" Rains. Mary Jane Lorenzo had nine children. See Descendants of Lorenzo Dow Atha for additional information. 2. Alexander Matthew Wiseman was born December 18, 1837, in Monroe County, Virginia.
