1 Descendants of Cornelius Cain Generation No CORNELIUS 1 CAIN (WILLIAM A ) was born Bet in Bladen County, NC, and died Aft. 10 January 1823 in Turnbull Creek, Bladen County, NC. He married LUCY Bef She was born Abt. 1782, and died Bet in Turnbull Creek, Bladen County, NC. Notes for CORNELIUS CAIN: Cornelius Cain is listed on the 1788 tax list of Bladen County. Neal Cain is listed on the 1790 census. State of North Carolina number Know that we for and in consideration of the sum of 50 shillings for every 100 acres hereby granted paid unto our treasury by Cornelius Cain have given and granted by these presents do give and grant unto the said Cornelius Cain a tract of land containing 100 acres lying and being in the County of Bladen on the North side of Turn Bull swamp beginning at a pine in the West edge of the Reed Pond and runs N 75 E 6 chains to a pine N 45 E 46 chains to a stake among several pines. Thence N 69 W 23 chains and 70 links to a stake then S 54 W 35 chains and 70 links to a stake then a direct line to the beginning entered 19th of May, Patent dated 23 December, Cornelius Cain sold the above 100 acres to George Cain in 1823 for $50. The land had been surveyed 23 March, March, Samuel Cain to Cornelius Cain - $ acres on SW side of Turnbull Swamp containg all the land in said swamp excepting Lot No. 4 of 15 acres drawn out by George Downing. Witnesses: A. Cain, David Cain. August term, March, George Downing to Lucy Cain - $ acres on 4th lot of 100 acres belonging formerly to John Cain, deceased and transferred by Arrington Cain to George Downing and others to Lucy Cain... on S side of Turnbull Swamp. Witnesses: John Cain. May term, The 85 acres deeded to Cornelius by Samuel Cain and the 15 acres recovered by Lucy Cain was handled by their children as shown below. An 1846 deed records reveals the name of Cornelius Cain's children. This indenture made on the 18th day Feb AD 1846 between Lucy Cain, Samuel Cain, Peter Cain, Elizabeth Cain, and Enoch Burdeaux and his wife Sarah, and William Cain of the one part and Timothy Davis of the other all of the county of Bladen and state of North Carolina witnesseth that the said Lucy Cain, Samuel Cain, Peter Cain, Elizabeth Cain, Enoch Burdeaux and wife Sarah, and William Cain do hargain sell convey and confirm and forever release unto the said Timothy Davis his heirs and assigns forever paid by the said Timothy Davis the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged a certain tract of land lying and beign in the state and county aforesaid containing 100 acres bounded as follows beginning at a pine on the SW side of Turn Bull creek and runs 31 chains and 63 links to a stake then E 31 chains and 43 links to a stake then N 31 chains and 63 links to a stake thence a direct course to the beginning containing 100 acres being all the lands of the estate of Cornelius Cain deceased and the said Lucy Cain, Samuel Cain, John Cain, Peter Cain, Elizabeth Cain, Enoch Burdeaux and his wife Sarah, and William Cain do warrant and defend the said land unto the said Timothy Davis his hiers and assigns forever against the claim or claims of all persons whomsoever claiming under them as heirs of the said Cornelius Cain, deceased. In witness whereof the said Lucy Cain, Samuel Cain, John Cain, Peter Cain, Elizabeth Cain, Enoch Burdeaux and his wife Sarah, and William Cain for themselves their heirs and assigns set their hands and affix their seal the date above written.
