If you would like more information, please contact us at INTRODUCTION The papers contain material generated or received by Harry M. Hyatt, an Anglican minister and genealogist. The material consists of family lineage charts, family correspondence, journals, photographs, and correspondence between Harry Hyatt and other genealogical researchers. Families researched are predominately the Richardson and Baker, families, but other related families are included, such as the Miller and Walton families. DONOR INFORMATION The papers were donated State Historical Society of Missouri by Ann F. Pogge and the Harry M. Hyatt Estate on 1 August 1979 (Accession No. 2268). BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Harry Middleton Hyatt was an Anglican minister who collected folklore as a hobby. He was raised in Quincy, Illinois. He received his Master of Arts and Doctor of Divinity degrees at Kenyon College and Oxford University. Hyatt served as assistant rector at the Church of the Holy Spirit in New York City from After his retirement in 1965, Hyatt returned to his home town of Quincy. Hyatt was also a genealogist who published two books on his own family, The Millers of Millersburg, Kentucky in 1929, and Descendants of John Walton of Baltimore County, Maryland and Harrison County, Kentucky, SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE The papers have been arranged into the following three series with 10 subseries: Series: Genealogical Material Subseries: Baker and Related Families Cox and Related Families Griffith and Related Families Hyatt and Related Families Major and Related Families McClelland and Related Families Miller Family Pemberton and Related Families Richardson Family Walton and Related Families

The Documents series consists of estate records, receipts, promissory notes, military land warrants, land surveys and indentures, circuit court documents, appointment (power of) attorney regarding disposal of tracts of land, land sales, county court estate sales, fees for merchandise sold, fines, estate charges, and transcription of a murder trial. The Photographs series contains images of members of the Richardson, Miller, Pemberton, Baker, Hamilton, Hyatt, Hall, McKim, Allen, and related families.
