1 PRE-TEST: Mormon Pioneers in Arizona True or False: 1. The Church of the Latter Day Saints is the largest religious group in Arizona. 2. Maricopa County has the largest percentage of Mormons in the state of Arizona. 3. LDS settled from the northern part of the state to the southern part of the state. Eventually, there would be a chain of settlements from Salt Lake City to Mexico. 4. Mesa is the oldest Mormon settlement in Arizona. 5. Mormon pioneer settlements followed the pattern set in Salt Lake City, Utah. 6. All early Mormon pioneers tended to be farmers therefore, settling near a water source was crucial to survival of the community. 7. LDS churches are called Meeting Houses. 8. The earliest LDS settlement in the Phoenix Valley is located in Mesa. 9. All early Mormon pioneer settlements flourished in Arizona. 10. In rural LDS settlements, there will be a satellite dish to receive the bi-annual message from Salt Lake City. OTES FROM POWERPOIT:
