1 Davenport, Iowa Vol. 42 No, 44 Officers November 19, North Scott Rotary Serves President A BIG CHECK In more ways than one President Elect Glen Keppy Vice President Jeff Helms $36,589 This is the check presented by Auc#on Chair Patrick Olsen to President Vice President Elect Dennis Peterson Treasurer Sergeant-At-Arms Greg Schaapveld Past President Ex-Officio Steve Suiter Board Members Marcia Brandt Jerry Coussens Lorraine Lynch Lori Rochau Chris#ne Garrow Rich Golinghorst Gene Meyer Patrick Olsen Execu$ve Secretary Dennis Peterson Dennis.peterson1@gmail.com This is the net amount earned 2 weeks ago at North Sco, Rotary s annual AUCTION Over $44,000 gross was raised thanks to the efforts of all of you. Give yourself a hand, and give a hand in helping us give this money away to deserving goals in our community THIS FRIDAY AT THE STEEPLEGATE TODD RUBLEY Quarterback, Chiropractor, Humanitarian Todd Rubley grew up in Davenport and was quarterback on Davenport West's state championship football team in 1977 and played quarterback for Auburn University. (Trivia question: Which member of North Scott Rotary was manager for West High's 1977 championship football team?) On Nov. 21, members of that team are having a reunion at the UniDome in Cedar Falls to honor their coach, Roger Harrington, who is being inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association's Hall of Fame. Todd, who lives in Ohio, accepted our invitation to speak at North Scott Rotary en route to the reunion about Coach Harrington's induction, his mentorship with former North Scott Rotarian Ron Frogley to become a doctor of chiropractic, his Rotary journey and humanitarian work, and his moving and patriotic experience at the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Todd is one of three chiropractors employed with the interdisciplinary Holzer Health System which was voted by the American Medical Association as one of the top three interdisciplinary medical groups in the U.S., along with Mayo Clinic of Rochester, and St. John's of Missouri. They employ medical doctors, psychiatrists, dentists, surgeons, podiatrists, and professionals of almost every discipline. Todd is a member of the Rotary Club of Jackson, Ohio, and a Rotary Assistant District Governor in District 6690.

2 Can You Sponsor a Child at God s Mercy Orphanage Center? The country of Uganda has many issues. Among them is the fact that 85% of the 34 million residents have a 7 th Grade education or less. Our North Scott Rotary is participating in a Rotary Global Grant to help the orphanage and the nearby communities. But, what about the kids? Rotarians at North Scott Rotary are stepping up to sponsor a child. It costs only $180 per year to sponsor a child while in their Primary Grades 1-7. It costs $360 per year to sponsor that child in Secondary Grades 1-6. Without our help none of the children will get beyond Grade 7. They will be destined for a life of poverty. You can make a huge difference in a child s life by sponsoring a child.
