6 DGD Business Board Minutes Due to a change in board policies, the business board meeting minutes will be published the month following the initial meeting. FEBRUARY 2013 Approval of Agenda: = The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. Dean asked if anything should be added to the agenda. Mark Paris wanted to add; election committee; table layout for meetings; honorary membership for Mike Boggs. Motion was made to approve by Howard Cooper and seconded by John Christensen. Read/Approve minutes from previous meeting: = Donna Hackett, secretary, was unable to attend tonight s meeting. We did not have a copy of last months meeting minutes so they were not read. Donna asked Judy Paris to take minutes in her absence. Proof Read Gazette: = Maria stated that there was no gazette to proof read as only the post card will be going out. She will include the next meeting information and outing information on the post card. She will also remind the members that we need more people to run for office and fill other vacant positions. Web Masters Report: = Mike Boggs reported that he spoke with Mark Hinkle over the phone and Mark reported that everything was up to date on the web site. Membership Report: = Maria said we had 33 new members this month. The names were read and a motion to approve was made by John Christensen and seconded by Howard Cooper. All new members were approved. Refer to new members roster for 2/2013 for names. Maria then passed out the new members numbers to various officers so they can contact the new members. Travel Vouchers/expenses: = Expense sheets were turned into Bud. Treasure Report: = Bud Little gave the treasure report. The club was in the black for the previous month by $ Total club assets are $46, Bud also reported that we will be printing and laminating our own claim maps along with making our own map cd s. We will also be lowering the prices on the shirts that we are selling in the gift shop. Gold Master Report = Mark Paris reported the number of nuggets used for the last meetings raffles and give-aways. We are right in line with the previous two months. We gave away 13 size one nuggets; 11 size two nuggets; 4 size three nuggets We only sold 124 tickets for the quarter ounce drawing. Total remaining balance for the collection is $17, There was a question asked as to why we use the dollar figure amount and not weight. The reason being is that every nugget would have to be weighed every month and our computer program averages out both weight and dollar value for the collection. Social Directors Report: =Our social director was absent. The next social is the picnic in April at Kennedy Park. There were a few members that were upset that we were not alternating the socials from Saturday to Sundays. This will be addressed with the new Social Director after elections. Outing Directors Report: = February s outing was held at Snoozer 2 near Arivaca. 35 people showed up and 17 of the regular coins were found along with all three nuggets. The next outing will be at the Pilgrims Progress claims on Sunday, March 10, It was unknown at the time if roads are passable. The meeting time is 8:00am at milepost 7 of Arivaca Road. Claims Director Report: = Bud Little reported that all paperwork has been signed and claims are up to date. Chief Claims Steward Report: = Jerry Ray was absent and no report given. Public Relations Report: = Judy reported that she sent two cards out. One to Alan Fertig and Mark Hinkle for upcoming surgeries. Historian s Report: = Bryon Hackett was absent due to illness. There was a question as to the location of the VCR tapes and no answer was given. Old Business: = No old business was discussed. New Business: = Dean Queen brought up the possibility of changing our board meeting location due to excessive noise at the current location. Other locations were discussed but it was decided that we will stay where we are until the elections. Mark Paris asked if there was an election committee established for the April elections. Maria volunteered to make the ballots and ask for assistance from other members not nominated or running for office. Mark Paris voiced his concern about the layout of all the club function tables and that there was a long standing line of people outside before the last meeting. A new layout will be decided upon at the next general meeting. Mark Paris also asked that we approve a one year honorary membership for Mike Boggs so that he doesn t have to go through the process of becoming a member upon his return from medical leave. A motion was made and seconded by Bob Melzer and approved. Dean Queen read the resignation letter from Alan Fertig. Alan is resigning from his board member position as well as weigh master due to health problems. He will remain a member of the club. Mike Boggs once again thanked the officers and board for their services and assistance with the club this year. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:39pm. 6 DGD Gazette MARCH 2013

9 Hello Folks, OUTING DIRECTORS REPORT FEBRUARY 2013 February's outing on the on 9th was a bizarre one. We had snow! Mark and I were driving out to Snoozer #2 on the Arivaca road when we noticed the rain turned to a slush then do a full blown snow. It wasn't until we got off at mile marker 7 when we noticed that the snow was sticking. We started to worry about the attendance for this outing. After placing the coins and going back to mile marker seven we saw about a dozen cars with more still coming in. In all, we had 35 people show up to with 3 guests. 17 of the $1 coins were found along with all three nugget tokens being found. Congrats to James Rem, JJB, and Bob Masog for finding those nuggets. Because of the snow/rain, drywashers would not operate properly, so many showed up for the nugget shoot and hung out to enjoy the rest of the morning. However, Mark and I found some gold. March's outing on the 10th, will be held at Pilgrim's Progress. We will meet at mile marker 7. We will head to the claim at 8 AM sharp. Hope to see you there. The weather forecasts shows rain over the weekend, so be prepared for wet dirt roads and a wet outing. Thanks, Mark and Jason MARCH 2013 We went to Pilgrim's Progress on the Sunday March 10. It was a beautiful morning to be out digging for gold. In all, we had 38 people come out. During the nugget shoot, 18 coins were found and all three washers for nuggets were found. Congratulations to Erica Colbeck, Jerry Holle, and Tom Monroe for finding those washers. Next outing in April be held on Saturday, April 6th at Rough as Cob. We will meet at 7 AM, in Kearny at the BLM campground of off HWY 177. See you all there, Jason and Mark From the President of Detectors Unlimited: My name is Steve Rice, am the president of Detectors Unlimited. The club is having a coin shoot,we will drop 120 or more coins. Our club has cross over members of your club and I would like to invite others who are not members.
