3 ST. PETER LITHUANIAN CHURCH NEWSLETTER July-August 2010 p. 3 Church location: 75 Flaherty Way, South Boston, Massachusetts Rev. Stephen P. Zukas, Pastor Mailing Address: 50 Orton Marotta Way, S. Boston, MA Rectory telephone: Fax: klebonas@me.com Dear Parishioners and Extended Family Members of St. Peter Lithuanian Parish, Garbė Jėzui Kristui! Praised be Jesus Christ! It doesn t seem possible that it is time for the summer s double bulletin, but here it is! It seems like we just moved back up to the church after the major renovations. It is time once again to return to the parish hall and the air conditioning. I met with all the pastors of South Boston as well as representatives from the Archdiocese on Wednesday, June 24 to discuss sustaining and growing the Catholic faith in South Boston. We pastors were advised to plan how the parishes can work together by sharing resources and implement those plans in order that the faith does not suffer unnecessarily due to the shortage of priests or financial constrictions. Our challenge will be to see connections with other parishes as we share with them in order to continue our mission as well as that of the overall church. This is our Parish Mission Statement:...St. Peter gives witness to the life of Jesus Christ and His teachings through the dedication of the Lithuanian immigrants who founded the parish....today, our parish community, while being centered on the Holy Eucharist, continues to express its faith in God and the church through its Lithuanian customs and traditions....as we do so, we embrace the universality of our Roman Catholic Faith and endeavor to bring the Gospel message to all through our preaching and our good works....we seek to spread the Good News to new immigrants, especially those whose faith was severely tested by an oppressive government....with God's blessing we will continue to fulfill this Mission. I am the convener of the South Boston Collaborative of Parishes. Please pray for our work as we plan for the sustaining and growing of our Catholic faith. Sincerely in Christ, Fr. Steve On a lovely Sunday in October, please join us for: St. Peter s annual!!!! October, 2010 (actual date to be announced in next bulletin) The choir loft will be under construction during July and August. Please minimize your donations for Sr. Helen during this time, since there is no place to store the bags. Thank you!
