His godparents were Sieur Martin de Montmidy, officer of the troops in the marine detachment and at the present commandant at the post of the said mission, and the godmother Michel [Michelle] LeBer, wife of Sieur Pierre Pepin Laforce. Her godparents were Sieur Estienne de Villedonné, captain of a company of the marine detachment and at present commandant of the said post, and Marguerite Kouk [Couc], wife of Sieur Michel Mass[e], voyageur [ancestry.com, Drouin Collection, S, St-Joseph-de-Michigan, , Image 5]. 4

His godparents were Jean Jacques Gatignon, a negoçiant, and Marguerite Soumande, the daughter of Monsieur Soumande, a negoçiant [ Drouin Collection, M, Montréal, Basilique Notre-Dame, , Image 156]. 5

6 Baptism of Jean Marie Blondeau Maurice Blondeau was a voyageur, engageur, and merchant: On 15 October 1684, Henri Tonty hired Jean Baptiste Nolan and Maurice Blondeau to accompany him on a trading voyage to les pays de la Louisiane [PAC , p. 69]. On 16 April 1691, prior to departing on a voyage to the 8ta8as (Ottawa Indians), Maurice Blondeau made a donation/gift in the event of his death to various people named in the contract, but not named in the summary [Maugue and Roy, Vol. 9, p. 180]. On 31 August 1693 Maurice Blondeau hired Philippe Leduc for a voyage to the 8ta8ois (Ottawa Indians) [Antoine Adhémar, RAPQ1930, p. 201]. On 19 October 1695, Pierre Robert dit Picard ceded to August Legardeur dit Courtemanche and Maurice Blondeau a sum of money that sieur Laroche, a soldier at Michilimackinac owed to Robert [Chambalon and Roy, Vol. 18, p. 132]. During the fall of 1697, Champigny investigated the merchants and other men who accompanied Alphonse Tonty to Michilimackinac in early September in violation of Louis XIV s orders that no fur trading could take place at Forts Frontenac, Michilimackinac, and St. Joseph. Maurice Blondeau and Jean Blondeau were among the merchants who travelled to Michilimackinac [Edge of Empire, pp ]. On 15 October 1700, Maurice Blondeau was a shareholder in the Compagnie de la Colonie [PAC , p. 101]. From 1718 to 1733, Maurice Blondeau was an engageur [RAPQ1930, passim]. On 21 May 1740, Jean Marie Blondeau hired Jean Baptiste Tabeau to make a voyage to Michilimackinac [RAPQ1930, p. 384]. Jean Marie Blondeau married Anne or Nanette Amiot dite Villeneuve, daughter of Daniel Amiot dit Villeneuve and Domitilde Oukabé, and widow of Antoine Guillory, during the winter of 1745 [Ste Anne, Mackinac CD, Marriages, , Image 5]. Their marriage contract was deposited in the St. Lawrence settlements on 13 June 1745 [PRDH, # Anne Amiot s Individual Sheet]. Anne or 6

7 Nanette Amiot dite Villeneuve was buried 8 November 1757 in Michilimackinac [PRDH, # Amiot Oukabé Family and Group Sheet]. Anne or Nanette Amiot was baptized 8 March 1716 in Michilimackinac [Ste. Anne, Mackinac CD, Baptisms, , Image 5]. The couple did not have any children [PRDH #24512]. Marriage of Jean Marie Blondeau and Anne or Nanette Amiot dite Villeneuve Blondeau Celle dite Duclos and *Unknown Native American Families Thomas Blondeau, son of Jean Baptiste Blondeau and Marie Marguerite Hot, was born in St-Joseph and baptized 5 October 1701 in Charlesbourg [Jetté, p. 117]. The names of his godparents are not known because the parish register page containing his baptism is badly torn [ancestry.com, Drouin Collection, C, Charlesbourg, , Image 150]. Baptism of Thomas Blondeau on the right side of the page, the tear eliminates most of the baptism Thomas Blondeau made his first voyage to Michilimackinac in From 1737 through 1742, he was an engageur, hiring voyageurs for trips to Michilimackinac [RAPQ1930, passim]. Thomas Blondeau had the following enfants naturel: 1. Marie Anne Blondeau was baptized 16 October 1733 in Michilimackinac. The name of her mother is not known [Ste. Anne, Mackinac CD, Baptisms, , Image 6]. 2. Michel Blondeau was baptized 28 September The name of his mother is not known [Ste. Anne, Mackinac CD, Baptisms, , Image 6]. 3. Marie Josèphe Blondeau was born circa Her mother was a Native American. She was baptized 22 June Her godfather was sieur Jacques Farly, a voyageur [Ste. Anne, Mackinac CD, Baptisms, , Image 11]. 7

8 Baptism of Marie Josèphe Blondeau Thomas Blondeau married Marie Josèphe Celle dite Duclos, daughter of Gabriel Lambert Celle dit Duclos and Anne Messier, 7 January 1737 in Montréal [PRDH #20155 Blondeau Celle Family and Couple Views]. Marie Josèphe Celle s maternal grandfather, Michel Messier, was a merchant and also travelled to Detroit in 1703 and 1704 [RAPQ1930, pp. 208, 209]. Marie Josèphe Celle s maternal aunt and children also travelled through Detroit when she was en route to join her husband Pierre Charles LeSueur in Louisiane. Unfortunately, he died in Havana, Cuba, prior to her arrival [RAPQ1930, p. 209; DCB: 8

9 Marriage of Thomas Blondeau and Marie Josèphe Celle dite Duclos Marie Josèphe Celle dite Duclos was born and baptized 3 August 1712 in Varennes [Jetté, p. 213]. Her godparents were Lambert Sel [Celle] and Marie Hébert [ancestry.com, Drouin Collection, V, Varennes, , Image 108]. Baptism of Marie Josèphe Celle Thomas Blondeau and Marie Josèphe Celle dite Duclos Children: 1. She was baptized the following day in Montréal. Thomas Blondeau was described as a voyageur at Marie Josèphe s baptism. Her godparents were Nicolas Sarrazin and Marguerite Duclos Deselle [de Celle dite Duclos], wife of [Jean Baptiste] Lebeau [ancestry.com, Drouin Collection, M. Montréal, Basilique Notre-Dame, , Image 186]. Nicolas Sarrazin, the godfather, was the son of Nicolas Sarrazin and Marie Catherine Blondeau. He was a merchant voyageur. He came to Détroit in 1708; he was godfather to Marie Josèphe, an Ottawa, who was baptized 12 June 1708 in Détroit [ancestry.com, Drouin Collection, D, Détroit, Autres Registres, , Image 24]. Baptism of Marie Josèphe Blondeau Marie Josèphe Blondeau died 20 April 1742 in Lachine [PRDH #20155 Blondeau Celle Family and Couple Views]. 3. Joseph Jean Marie Blondeau was born 29 January 1742 in Lachine [PRDH #20155 Blondeau Celle Family and Couple Views]. He was baptized 1 February Thomas Blondeau was described as a voyageur in Joseph Jean Marie Blondeau s baptism. His godparents were Joseph Lamoureux [dit] St. Germain and Marie Anne Cuillerier, wife of Joseph Blondeau, the baby s aunt [ancestry.com, Drouin Collection, L, Lachine, Ste-Anges-Gardiens, , Image 256]. 10

Baptism of Joseph Barthélemi Blondeau 5. Thomas Blondeau was born 25 April 1745 and baptized 30 April 1745 in Michilimackinac. His godparents were Mr. de Langlade [Charles Michel Mouet de Langlade] and Agathe [Amiot dite] Villeneuve, wife of Sieur [François] Boisguilbert. Thomas Blondeau died 9 July 1745 [Ste.
