Weyand opened this 5 & 10 store with Robert G. Van Meter as manager in Then Van Meter took over operations of the store from 1926 to Remember when the A&P Store and Western Auto were located in the same building? PRIVATE JOSEPH RE M TOM FISHER THE BODY OF PRIVATE JOSEPH REAM, WHO WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON July 1, 1863, WAS NEVER RECOVERED. HE WAS A BROTHER OF MICHAEL REAM. THEY WERE SONS OF JOSEPH AND ELIZABETH (ZORN) REAM, WHO WERE LIVING ON THE KEITH AND DENISE LEYDIG FARMETTE IN BROTHERSV ALLEY TOWNSHIP DURING THEIR YOUTH. ON THE RIGHT IS TOM FISHER WHO ALONG WITH RICHARD STURTZ OBTAINED THE VETERAN'S MEMORIAL AND ORGANIZED THE PRIVATE JOSEPH REAM MEMORIAL SERVICE ON JULY 1,2017 AT THE BERLIN IOOF CEMETERY.

ESTN CK DONATIONS: Cathy Webreck donated history associated with both the former First National Bank and Philson National Bank to accompany numerous photos she donated earlier this year. Joyce Knotts donated a 1998 Trinity United Church of Christ tee shirt. Tracey Koontz donated nine DVD copies of "Berlin Then and Now." Brenda Walker donated an updated copy and map of the Brotherton Pike Cemetery. Roger Clark repaired stone work at the entrance to our genealogy building; John Long worked on the entrance door to both the genealogy building and the Heritage Haus. Tommy Croner worked on the Heffley clock donated by Ben and Marylou Walker. Richard Berkley donated a 2017 Somerset County Plat Book. James Brown donated the Feb. 11, 1921 issue of the Berlin Record. Bob Platt donated a portable Smith Corona Word Smith 250 typewriter. Dan Will donated VHS tapes for the Calvin Will Estate representing Berlin celebrations of 1937 and 1987, a Jacob Walker Grave Ceremony, and the Patriot Cemetery. Jim Messena donated Google Earth maps of local areas. Dorlin Hay donated his Berlin FFA Jacket ( ) when he was serving as Vice President of the Brothersvalley FF A Chapter. Hazel Hillegas donated a history of the Wills Creek Charge of the United Church of Christ and an 1891 booklet, Memoir of Charles L. Winslow. An anonymous person donated a Modem Dairy ruler, a Van Meter's 5&10 cent variety store advertisement and a White Horse Mountain snow photo.

Bring your favorite covered dish, table service and beverage. AMONG THE FORMER OWNERS OF THE SUDER'S MAPLE VALLEY BARN: B. FRANK AND NORA (MUSSER) DIVELY Front (1 to r); B. Frank Dively, father, and daughter Clara, who later married Ernest Hay. Second row: Ernest Dively, son, and Nora (Musser) Dively, mother. Another daughter (not pictured) was Miss Helen Dively. B. Frank Dively was a former Brothersvalley Township tax collector, farmer, and carpenter. After the barn burned on the farm, a newer barn was constructed for the B. Frank Dively family. For many years Frank Dively served as custodian for the nearby Hillcrest Grange, being paid fifty cents a meeting for opening up and making fire in the winter.
