Identifying the Cain Spirit
1 John 3: For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, 12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother's righteous.
From the book Breaking Christian Curses by Dennis Cramer Arrow Publications Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Characteristics Primarily sheds innocent blood Prefers unsuspecting and vulnerable victims Takes deadly advantage of established trusts and intimate relationships (like the blood relationship between brothers) Finds its origins in hatred, envy, anger, jealousy, disobedience, vengeance, competition, pride, lying, and worst of all acute selfishness, i.e. Am I my brother s keeper? (Gen. 4:9)
Characteristics It will kill the closest of Christian relationships. Is a two-faced, cowardly, gutless, bushwhacking spirit. May appear to be your closest supporter, friend, even brother, but will stab you in the back if given the opportunity. Will ambush you before you know what hit you.
When we curse another Christian through a Cain-like anger, hatred, jealousy, or pride, we effectively murder that Christian.
Cain ruthlessly and unashamedly killed his own brother
Dressing Up Cain Shrouds itself in hypocrisy This Christianized version of anger and hatred finds its strength in spiritual pride
Dressing Up Cain Cloaks itself in an air of religious superiority An example of the classic religious spirit, it outwardly looks one way but inwardly acts another. It is anger and hate in the guise of pious (solemnly hypocritical) Christianity but with a religious twist to it. Still, it is anger and hate. If we are honest with ourselves, we will admit we all have a little bit of Cain in us.
Dressing Up Cain Those who have embraced a Cain spirit seem to have one common trait they all love to fight! The greater the challenge to their perceived position in God or prestige in the church, the fiercer their reaction and the greater their retaliatory response.
Dressing Up Cain Like Cain who hated his brother Abel, the exposure of their own pride results in outbursts of anger and the release of deeply ingrained hatred! It wants to get even, It wants to right the perceived wrong, they murder. (See Gen. 4:1-8.)
Dressing Up Cain Some Christians dress up the Cain spirit in them and take it to church every Sunday, in some cases showing it off proudly! They act very religiously Are white-washed sepulchers full of dead men s bones (Matt. 23:27).
Dressing Up Cain They are the height of superficiality, shallowness, pettiness, and religious performance! What justification can there be for such unchristian behavior among Christians? None!
Catch Me If You Can Refuses to accept responsibility for its own sinful actions. Lives in denial, always looking to skirt the issue. Depends on incredible rationalization skills and self-justification Always looking to explain away its actions.
Catch Me If You Can The Cain spirit is nearly indomitable. It took God Himself to finally corner the original Cain and force a confession out of him. Today, those influenced by this same Cain spirit will not fess up easily. They, too, must be caught by God and confess their murderous ways.
Identifying a person with a Cain spirit Apply this simple test: How many dead Christians are lying around them? The Cain spirit is measured in the number of corpses it produces How many spiritual fatalities does it generate over time? Beware of the Cain spirit!
Ask yourself these hard questions: Have I gone the way of Cain? Have I in effect murdered my (Christian) brother? To curse is to hate, to hate is to murder.
If so Repent NOW! Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain. -Jude 11 The way of Cain is death!
The Vagabond ANOTHER ASPECT OF THE SPIRIT OF CAIN Pastor Nick Ohizu
1. These are evil spirits permitted by God to cause one to be a fugitive, wandering from place to place. 2. They are also responsible for lack of ability to discover oneself.
Introduction -1 Kings 22: Then Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by, on His right hand and on His left. 20 And the LORD said, 'Who will persuade Ahab to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?' So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner. 21 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD, and said, 'I will persuade him.'
1 Kings 22: The LORD said to him, 'In what way?' So he said, 'I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And the LORD said, 'You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.' 23 Therefore look! The LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the LORD has declared disaster against you."
1. People under attack always fail to find favor with people; they frustrate every business venture in their location to cause you to move. 2. Their finances are under the firm grip of these extortionists causing them to sweat more and produce less. 3. They originated with God s permission in the life of Cain. 4. They can also be attracted with the name given to you. 5. Cain means acquisition -therefore acquiring wealth was the most important thing to Cain.
THEIR ORIGIN-GENESIS 4: Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, "I have acquired a man from the LORD." 2 Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
THEIR ORIGIN 1. The main cause of attraction is greed and inordinate ambition to get wealth. 2. Based on greed, Cain s thought that acquiring the entire world was twice as good as owning half the world. 3. This intention to seize everything was subject of their discussion which Abel rejected. 4. Greed will always lead you to crime and impatience to achieve your dreams which attracts these spirits.
THEIR ORIGIN 5. Divine punishment always fits the crime with divine precision. In the case of Cain, death sentence was not appropriate. 6. You can own the whole world, but you will plant and never harvest because you won t have the patience to wait for it.
HOW THEY OPERATE - GEN. 4:12. When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth."
HOW THEY OPERATE 1. These spirits cause people to kill or move with the mistaken presumption that the road to prosperity lies in reducing competitors. 2. The vagabond spirits cause you not to tarry long enough to make friends, let alone create relationships. 3. This is to show Cain that wealth comes from interacting, cooperating and networking with people, not killing them.
HOW THEY OPERATE 4. To overcome them is to learn that patience is required to learn how to work with people. 5. Never be jealous of another man s prosperity, that s the best way to avoid the vagabond spirits.
PRAYER OF RELEASE
Prayer of Release In the name of Jesus, I come before you Father and repent of every act of murder, jealousy, hatred and working against my brothers and sisters. I repent for allowing greed and lusts to consume my life. I confess these things as sin and I ask you to forgive me for these acts and cleanse me from every sin and every ramification of these sins, in Jesus name.
Prayer of Release Where I have been bound by a spirit of Cain, I ask you forgiveness for cooperating with this spirit and I ask that I be completely released in Jesus name. I ask that every stronghold binding me with stagnancy, be destroyed, in Jesus name. I ask that the power to find my bearing in the journey of life, come upon me now. I ask that you, Holy Spirit would instruct me in the way I should go in Jesus name.
Prayer of Release I ask that my name be removed from the book of Born for nothing, in Jesus name. I ask that every satanic agent assigned against my progress and every decree against my progress, be rendered helpless in Jesus name. I ask that every vagabond spirit that has been impacting my life keeping me wandering in the wilderness of business, marriage, ministry and life, be removed, in Jesus name.
Prayer of Release I ask you to make a straight path for my feet and establish my goings this year, in Jesus name. I ask that every chain of darkness holding me down in the same spot for years be broken now, in Jesus name. I ask that every failure, frustration, backwardness and sickness be banished from my life, in every way, in Jesus name.
Prayer of Release I ask that the power of failure at the edge of success by destroyed by fire, in Jesus name. I ask that every demon assigned to keep me from finding happiness, be bound and gagged and removed from impact upon my life, in Jesus name. I ask that every satanic eye monitoring my success and progress, receive blindness, in Jesus name
Prayer of Release I now go into the prisons of wanderings and retake the fractured parts of my soul from this place and return them to me, in Jesus name. I establish this part of my soul in the realms of Heaven with you Father, in Jesus name. Every prison of jealousy where my soul has been taken captive, I now go in and rescue my fractured soul from these places, in Jesus name. I establish this part of my soul in the realms of Heaven with you Father, in Jesus name.
Prayer of Release I go in to every prison of hatred, and remove my fractured soul from it, in Jesus name. I return that part of my soul unto my self and establish this part of my soul in the realms of Heaven with you Father, in Jesus name. Every prison of envy where my soul has been taken captive, I now go in and rescue my fractured soul from this place, in Jesus name. I establish this part of my soul in the realms of Heaven with you Father, in Jesus name.
Prayer of Release I go in to every prison of selfishness, and remove my fractured soul from it, in Jesus name. I return that part of my soul unto my self and establish this part of my soul in the realms of Heaven with you Father, in Jesus name. Every prison of lust for gain where my soul has been taken captive, I now go in and rescue my fractured soul from this place, in Jesus name. I establish this part of my soul in the realms of Heaven with you Father, in Jesus name.
Prayer of Release I go in to every prison of greed, and remove my fractured soul from it, in Jesus name. I return that part of my soul unto my self and establish this part of my soul in the realms of Heaven with you Father, in Jesus name. Every miry pit where I have been taken captive; I now go in and rescue my fractured soul from these places, in Jesus name. I establish this part of my soul in the realms of Heaven with you Father, in Jesus name.
Prayer of Release I ask Holy Spirit that you would lead me to every place of imprisonment where I have been taken captive so that I may go in and release that captive part into the freedom that is found in You, in Jesus name. Holy Spirit teach us, warn us, help us so that we no longer cooperate with the spirit of Cain, nor are victims of that spirit and its jealous cohorts, in Jesus name.
Prayer of Release Show us any other area we need to cover in prayer and repentance, in Jesus name. We pray for Your Kingdom to come--now, and your perfect will to be done--now, in Jesus name! Thank you for freeing us completely Lord Jesus!
