4 Attention Activity Who would like to report one way they have shown love for Jesus Christ during the past week. This week we are going to hear more about one way they can show love for Jesus Christ.

5 Attention Activity We are going to play a game that will help you understand a very important way that we show love for Jesus Christ. I m going to play a song. When you think you know the name of the song, you may raise your hands. Don t yell out any answers.

16 Attention Activity Serving others can include giving and helping. We often serve by helping and giving to others.

17 Article of Faith Let s try saying the thirteenth article of faith together. 13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

18 Let s read Mosiah 2:17 together. 17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.

20 Jesus told many stories, or parables, to help people learn the truth.

21 One day a leader of the Jews asked Jesus what he must do to have eternal life. The Savior asked him what the scriptures said.

22 The leader said that a man should love God and also love his neighbor. Jesus said that he was right. Then the leader asked, Who is my neighbour?

23 Jesus answered by telling the man a story. One day a Jewish man was walking on the road to the city of Jericho.

24 Thieves robbed and beat him. They left the man on the road, almost dead.

25 Soon a Jewish priest came by and saw the man The priest walked by on the other side of the road. He did not help the man.

26 Another Jewish man who worked in the temple came by. He saw the injured man. But he did not help the man either and walked by on the other side of the road.

27 Then a Samaritan man came along. The Jews and the Samaritans did not get along.

28 But when the Samaritan saw the man, he felt sorry for him. He took care of the man s wounds and put clothes on him.

29 The Samaritan took the man to an inn and cared for him until the next day.

30 When the Samaritan had to leave, he gave money to the innkeeper and told him to take care of the man.

31 After Jesus told this story, He asked the Jewish leader which of the three men was a neighbor to the injured man.

32 The leader said that the Samaritan was because he had helped the man. Jesus told the Jewish leader to be like the Samaritan.

33 Why do you think the priest and the Levite passed by the injured man without helping him? Possible reason include: Maybe they were in a hurry. They might have been afraid of the injured man. Maybe they didn t want to be bothered with someone else s problem.

34 Why do we sometimes pass by people who need our help?

35 You can be good Samaritans by helping people in need. Let s listen to some situations in which someone needs help. Then we are going to have you act out how you might

36 There are toys all over the floor, the baby is crying, and your mother is trying to prepare supper. What could you do to help?

37 A new girl has moved in next door. She is from a different country and can t speak your language very well. When she goes out to play, she looks lonely. What can you do to help?

38 Sister Castro comes to church each week, but no one seems to notice her. She is old, always sits alone, and looks sad. What can you do to help?

39 Your little sister is upset because her favorite toy broke. What can you do to help?

40 Jesus is pleased when we serve others willingly. You should try to give service to other people.

41 There are many people in the Church who serve Jesus Christ by helping others every week.

42 People such as Primary teachers, choristers, organists, priests and deacons who administer the sacrament, and many others.
