12 ,,,- J J :l 1: VERNON FREE W BAPTST ASSOCATON, :,,,, ; CONSTTUTON 1 Ths assocaton shall be known as the Vernon Free Wll Baptst Assocaton of Alabama beng composed of mnsters, deacons and delegate from the dfferent churches formng the same All havng full power to vote on all questons whch come before the assocaton Each church beng enttled to three delegates for the frst 5 members and one addtonal delegate for each 25 members or fracton thereof, n addton to mnsters and deacons :: Ths body shall be consdered an advsory councl havng no authorty over the nternal affars of the churches unless they depart from the Treates of Fath and practce of Free Wll Baptst Ths assocaton shall have authorty over all mnsters n the matters of doctrne, character, etc n case any mnster n ths assocaton depart from and teach doctrne not n keepng wth Treates of Fath and practce of Free Wll Baptst the same shall be dealt wth by the assocaton as t may deem proper accordng to the teachng of the Bble : " 3 When a church desres that one of ts members should be lcensed or ordaned to preach the Gospel, t requests the assocaton to examne, by councl, such member The examnaton for lcense should refer to the pety, doctrnes and convctons respectng the work of the mnstry, and the reputaton for character and ablty of the canddate The examnaton for ordnaton should nclude all that s requred for lcense, and also satsfactory examnaton respectng the lfe and labors of the canddate No preacher shall be accepted or ordaned n ths Assocaton as a preacher who has more than one lvng wfe 4 All questons of doctrne and general nterest shal be settled by a majorty vote of the assocaton and the decson shall be fnal 5 The offcers of the assocaton shall be moderator,assstant moderator and clerk-treasurer, who shal be chosen at each sesson by a majorty vote of the delegates present The offcers shall be chosen at the close of each sesson to take offce at the begnnng of the ne:<t sesson 6 The assocaton shall meet annually at such tme and place s may be agreed upon at the prevous sesson and shall not adjourn fnally untl all busness matters be transacted 7 Churches wshng to become members of ths assocaton must a dopt ts Artcles of Fath and conform to ts usages : 8 We agree as churches of ths assocaton to use our best nfluence to promote the nterest of all moral and benevolent nsttutons such as Temperance cause, Sabbath School, Mssonary worlt, etc 9 No member of ths assocaton shall be elgble to serve as moderator for more than two consecutve sessons unless no other members be competent to serve n that capacty 1 Any member of ths assocaton who shall be gulty of crculatng -12- l
