CALL TO WORSHIP I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord. Our feet shall stand within Thy gates, O Jerusalem. For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Because of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek Thy good. Those that be planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the courts of our God. Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house. Lord, I have loved thy habitation the place where thy Honor dwelleth. For the Lord is in His Holy Temple; let all the earth keep silence before Him. 4 HOLY SCRIPTURES Luke 4:1-8 (NLT) ALL 1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2a where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. 2b He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. 3 The devil said to him, If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread. 4 Jesus answered, It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone. 5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And he said to him, I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours. 8 Jesus answered, It is written: Worship the Lord your God and serve him only. THE PREFACE TO THE DECALOGUE From all that dwell below the skies, let the Creator s praise arise; let the Redeemer s name be sung, through every land, by every tongue. THE DECALOGUE Let us express our commitment to keep God s law. God of our salvation, only You are God. We will make no idols. We will not invoke with malice Your name, O God. We will remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy. We will honor our father and our mother. We will not commit murder. We will not commit adultery. We will not steal. We will not be a false witness. We will not covet anything that belongs to our neighbor. Jesus said: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. Jesus also challenged us to live justly with a second commandment which is like the first: We shall love our neighbor as ourselves! On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.

7 ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPCOMING EVENTS March 10, 2019 GET ON THE BUS: Bethel is invited to fellowship with Rice Chapel AME Church, Dallas, on Sunday, March 17, 3:00 p.m. as they celebrate their church anniversary. Pastor Tolliver will be the guest preacher and the Bethel Church Family will be there to support and celebrate with Rice Chapel. Please sign up to reserve your seat on the bus for this day of worship & fellowship with our sister church. The cost is $25 per person. So, don t delay, reserve your seat on the bus today! OUTREACH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are needed immediately for picking up goods from the San Antonio Food Bank for our church s Outreach Ministry. A truck and volunteers are needed for Mondays from 9:30-11:00 am to transport items from Food Bank to the Outreach Center and assist with the loading and unloading of goods. If you are willing to assist with this ministry, please contact Madelyn or Julia COLLECTIONS FOR BETHEL S COMMEMORATIVE BOOK: Immediately after worship service today, Committee Members are set-up in the Fellowship Hall to collect your historical items. Your photos, documents, newspaper clippings, programs, etc., that show historical activities of Bethel from 1889 to the present are needed. All submissions will be carefully recorded, copied and returned to you the following Sunday. This project will not be successful without you. Please do not hesitate to contact the church office if you have any questions or concerns. - Bethel Historical Anniversary Project Committee WOMEN S HISTORY PLAY: The Cultural Arts Committee invites you to join in celebrating Women s History Month with a play entitled SHIRLEY CHISHOLM: WOMAN of DISTINCTION on the 4 th Sunday, March 24 th, during the Church School hour in the Beasley Brown Community Center. SWTC WMS/YPD MEETING: The Southwest Texas Conference Women s Missionary Society & YPD will meet at Bethel AMEC on March 30, Registration and continental breakfast will start at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. All missionaries and YPD ers are encouraged to attend.

8 SAN ANTONIO DISTRICT CONFERENCE: The San Antonio District Conference will be held March 14-16, 2019, at Emmanuel AME Church. The theme is Intentionally Growing Spiritually. There will be a Communion Service on Thursday, March 14 th and the conference sessions will begin on March 15 th & 16 8:45 a.m. The special guests will be Dr. James Wade, Executive Director of Church Growth & Development of the AME Church, and Valerie Bell, Connectional Lay President of the AME Church. Dr. Wade will present and discuss the topic: if we are going to grow the church, we must first grow and develop spiritually as individuals. Pastors must grow. Members must grow. Disciples must be made, and we must hold each other accountable for personal spiritual growth. All officers and board/auxiliary leaders are expected to attend. UNG ANNUAL MEETING & SCHOLARSHIP BANQUET: The Tenth District Ushers Nurses and Greeters Annual Banquet & Meeting will be held April 26-27, Bethel AMEC San Antonio. The Tiny Hawkins Scholarship Banquet will be held on April 26, 7:00 p.m. The tickets are $ Since its existence, one or two of our high school seniors have been recipients. This past year Daniella Copeland was a recipient. We would like to continue this tradition, so we humbly ask your participation. UNG members annual dues $25.00 are also expected to be paid in full at that time. Please make all checks payable to Bethel AME Church and write UNG dues/ticket in the memo section. - Jennifer Miller - Bethel UNG President CHILDREN S CHURCH: Youth ages 4-12 are welcome to attend Children s Church every 1 st & 4 th Sunday of the 10:00 am in the Beasley Brown CC. The youth will participate in engaging, fun activities that will impact their lives both spiritually and socially. The next session will be held on Sunday, February 24 th. Parents must complete a permission form for each youth that attends. WEEKLY PRAYER MEETING AND BIBLE STUDY: Join us each Wednesday for 11:00 a.m. and Bible 12:00 noon and 6:00 pm.
