2 Future Open Rec Member/Families, We are excited that you will be joining us at Kirtland, AFB! We have a terrific Youth Center with awesome programs, staff, and youth! We know you will have fun and make a lot of new friends while you are here. We have plenty to offer youth ages Our program is affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of America, 4-H, and the National Alliance for Youth Sports. In addition to our Youth Center, the base has a bowling alley, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, an archery range, trips and climbing wall opportunities through Outdoor Recreation, and many other recreational activities. On base we have one elementary school. All middle schools and high schools are located off base. For more information on the base and local area, please refer to the rest of this packet! 5 Preteen and Teen Programs Pre-Teens Parent s Night Out: For youth ages 5-12 on select Fridays from 6:30pm- 10:30pm. Member cost is $10.00 and non-member cost is $15.00 and includes dinner. Torch Club: This is a youth leadership development club for pre-teens. Members plan their own activities, service events, and monthly community service projects. 4-H: 4-H leaders from Bernalillo County are in our building frequently to prepare us for projects to enter in the State Fair, National 4H Science Day, and all camps to include summer, winter, and spring. Lock Ins: Available on selected days throughout the year. Teens KEYSTONE CLUB: This is a Boys and Girls Club of America teen leadership program where members elect their own officers, plan and organize activities, participate in various projects and initiatives throughout the year, and contribute to their community through monthly service projects. AIR FORCE TEEN COUNCIL (AFTC): is a network of teens working to resolve issues and voice concerns to the highest levels of AF leadership on behalf of teens globally or worldwide. By initiating change, Keystone and teen council members will improve quality of life for AF youth and teens. Newcomers Orientation will be given to you on your first visit to our center. This is an excellent time to meet the staff and learn about program opportunities available throughout our center. 5
