(Copy attached for information. ) On , Arthur J. Hanes and his son, who practices law with him, visited Scotland Yard where they saw a Chief Inspector. We have been advised in confidence that Hanes requested an interview with Ray and was told he could not see him. He was asked the source of his fee and replied that he expected to collect his fee from Ray. When he was told that Ray is practically without funds, he apparently lost interest in seeing him and requested that Ray be given Hanes' business card, on the back of which he wrote, "Dear Mr. Sneyd. We made an effort to see you but will see you immediately upon arrival in the USA." The Atlantic edition of "Time" magazine, , has been withdrawn from sale in England because of an article on pages captioned "Ray's Odd Odyssey." This article includes details of the subject's prior criminal activities as well as a detailed summary of this case and his activities since July, Publication of such material concerning a defendant under pending charges is strictly prohibited by British law.
