We will be enjoying a Weiner Roast at the Wayne City Park on Sunday, October 1 st at 5pm to honor Pastor Steve Griswold and wife Rhonda! We sure do appreciate all their hard work as they continue pouring themselves into our Church and Community to share and show God s Love! Thank you for all you two do!! The Impact youth/ C&C group will be attending the Youth Encounter Event in Marion, IL on the 8 th! This will be a first for all the youth here at FCCWC! So far we have 14 signed up to attend. We are really looking forward to it! Wayne City Matters is sponsoring a Cruise-In on October 15 th from 1pm 5pm and it is being held at FCCWC. If you have a vehicle you would like to enter please do so, there is no entry fee. If you need more info you can call The Wayne City Bean Days parade was a success this year, despite the boiling heat. FCCWC entered a float which won 1 st place in the Church category and 2 nd place overall! Ben Caldwell headed up the group that made the winning entry. Great Job to all those that participated!! The College and Career Ministry has started!! They meet every Sunday afternoon at 4pm here at FCCWC. This ministry is for singles or married from the ages of The leaders are Pastor Steve and Rhonda Griswold. During the days of October 12 th 14 th our Church will be closed. The carpets will be cleaned on the 12 th and we are asking that no one enter the Church until Sunday the 15 th, so that the carpets have ample time to dry. We thank you all very much for understanding! Mark your calendars for Saturday October 21 st for Faithbuilders Fall Party which is for the whole church and yes you can bring friends. Ben and Marcie Caldwell are hosting and the celebration begins at 3pm. We will be having a chili cook-off, games, devotion, weiner roast and end the evening with a hayride. 3 Faith Builders Fall Party!! 3 pm Saturday, October 21 st At Ben and Marcie Caldwell s Everyone Invited Chili Cook-off, Games, Devotion Weiner Roast and Hayride Some September Happenings.. FCCWC s Bean Day Parade Float won 1 st place in the Church Division and 2 nd Overall! Great Job to all who had a part in building in it!! Jayla Pendleton won 1 st runner up in the Miss Bean Queen Pageant, wonderful job Jayla!! Jayden Bailey did awesome as she competed for her first time in the Miss Bean Queen Pageant and Little Miss Retiring Queen Addison Milligan did an outstanding performance during the Little Miss Pageant! We are proud of you all! Sept. 17 th was a special day at FCCWC. We celebrated with Denise Smith as she was Baptized and experienced our very first Flower Service and what a moving service it was. There were 375 carnations at the front waiting to be handed out. It was a sight to behold when the youngest of children went forward first and wanted to take as many as they could carry so that could spread God s Love. 3 was the number we started off with and it took off from there. By the end of the service, everyone had a flower or more. The thing I learned was the more I got, the more I wanted to give away. That is what God wants from us, to give of ourselves unselfishly. I think what I loved most was when one of the little girls from church gave my husband a flower, and he was taken off guard, sitting there like, for me? I m hoping to experience a second one, and if you have never been involved in one, I hope you can join us next time! We have started practice for our upcoming Western themed Christmas play, For Unto Ya ll! We practice on Sunday evenings beginning at 5pm with Sister Rhonda Griswold Directing. It will be presented in December with Dinner available before the show. I believe it s going to be a hootenanny of a good time!!! We hope to see you there!!
4 Ministering to the Heart Pastor Steve Griswold Fall is here with the colors of changing of the seasons! The browns & orange colors and the brilliant foliage that God paints on His landscape through the trees remind us of His handiwork! We look forward to this month with cooler temperatures with a wiener roast coming very soon as we celebrate Pastor Appreciation Month. We have had several of our firsts the past few weeks! We had our first Flower Service with a large attendance! We gave out 375 beautiful carnations and we loved on each other real good! Then I baptized my first candidate, Denise Smith and we celebrated her decision for Jesus! We have a Car Cruise scheduled for October 15 th here at the church as we support Wayne City Matters as we supply the cooks for the afternoon. And on October 28 th we have a united effort for our First Fall Festival in town with a combined Trunk or Treat emphasis with local churches and groups and organizations coming together to have games and activities to help promote Wayne City Matters ministry. Rhonda and I are preparing at this moment to move to town after 15 years of not owning the property where we have lived, we are so thankful and grateful to God to have given us a place where we can own and call home and use for His Kingdom use. So many, many firsts this month to enjoy and be thankful for! Randall is doing a great job leading us in the Wednesday Night Job Bible Study. The Youth are preparing to go to Youth Encounter in a week at Marion, IL. The children are being taught and loved in Sunday School and Faith Builders adults had their first party and have another one on October 21 st. We entered Bean Days parade and won first place in the church category and second overall and the prize money is to be used
5 to buy study Bibles! This is another way we can reach into our community and share about Jesus and love others! Coming soon is the Annual Church Business meeting where we will do the business of the church and launch the promotion of Joy and Jubilee and share our plans for the new year of ministry. Many building and grounds projects have been completed and we are having all the church carpets cleaned this month before we have winter and a November wedding for Gabrielle! I am so thankful for the men and wives of our Leadership Team! They have been so supportive of my new ideas, so loving and caring to minister to Rhonda and me, and so faithful and visionary to see the path we are to journey together! It is a real joy to work with such great and godly men and women! Finally I want to express my thanks and my appreciation to our new small group class of College and Career adults! They are so talented and excited to work with us to develop the ministry and events just for them and their age groups! We are going to be involved in the Cruise In as we cook food, and planning an event for Christmas time when our college kids come home to join us. Future plans for next summer include either a mission trip where they go to a local setting and serve or we do a local Vacation Bible School for another church. We are preparing them to be leaders! The Holiday season is upon us for the next three months! Enjoy! Invite! Serve! Bro. Steve
