This Spring we have many events going on, check out our list of events listed in this Prompter. We will be looking for volunteers for our Tootsie Roll Drive held on Palm Sunday weekend. And also for our Church Membership Drive at St. Mary. Please volunteer if you can. So far, we have had good success recruiting new members this year. This month we welcome both Steve Zannetti and Tim Craddock Jr. Please introduce yourself and welcome them at the next meeting or event. As always, look around you and invite others to join our group. Our Council is what we make of it, so invite your friends and family, it will make our meeting nights and social events more worthwhile. Remember, 7:30pm the 3 rd Tuesday of each month is our regular membership meeting. We have had great turnouts lately, and of course the best social hour in town afterwards. We count on input from members like you so we can help others and support causes that matter to our members. If you have not been to a meeting in a while, stop in and see what you have been missing, we will be glad to see you. 2 Pro-Life Update/Reminder Dear Brothers, as we rapidly approach Lent 2017, the bi-annual 40 Days for Life program will also start. This program is held each Spring and Fall; this year the Spring campaign begins March 1, Ash Wednesday and extends through April 9, Palm Sunday, every day from 8 AM to 8 PM. I ask that you prayerfully consider joining your prayers with others outside a local abortion facility for at least one hour a week as your Lenten sacrifice. Currently there are five Metro Detroit locations; 1. Ferndale (on Woodward north of 9 Mile), 2. Southfield (Evergreen south of the Lodge Freeway), 3. West Bloomfield (Orchard Lake Rd south of Maple), 4. Sterling Heights (17 Mile west of Ryan), and 5. Westland (Ford Rd between Wayne and Wildwood). Our council is linked to the Ferndale, Southfield, and West Bloomfield locations at 40daysforlife.com. If either of the other sites would be more convenient for a member, please let me know and I will add that location. Wednesday evening at 7 PM at the Ferndale Planned Parenthood Office will be our Council s designated location and hour, but you can sign up for any hour at any location that works for you. If it is not practical for you to physically be at a clinic, please pray a Rosary at least once a week during Lent for the victims of abortion. Thank you very much; have a blessed Lent. Dedicated to responding to the mandate of Jesus to preach the Gospel to all nations by taking the Catholic Faith to the streets. Christ s call to evangelize was made to every Catholic Christian, and the Second Vatican Council reiterated this need, urging each of the baptized to bring the Gospel, found fully in the Catholic Church, to a culture that has largely reverted to paganism. 4 MEMBER NEWS New Members, Steve Zannetti and Tim Craddock Jr We celebrated our council Christmas Party on December 20, Unfortunately, this occurred on the day of the large snow storm. Those members that did make it, did have a good time. Santa Claus did make it to hand out gifts to Mark Bakers grandchildren. We would like to thank Trustee Tim Gignac for arranging to have Santa in attendance. 5 Men s Fellowship at St. Mary Parish Men of faith are invited to come and share in our discussions of the upcoming Sunday scripture readings and their meanings in our daily lives. No need to sign up, no need to come every week, just come join us Thursday mornings from 6:30 am to 7:30 am in the Fellowship Center lobby and share some coffee and bagels and good discussions. It s a great way to start your day! Bible Study at St. Mary Parish All are invited to study the bible with fellow parishioners Thursday nights from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Fellowship Center lobby. Poker Fundraiser Next poker dates are from August 30 th through September 2 nd. Volunteers will be needed, Aug 30 and 31, from 11:30am - 6:00pm, and September 1 st and 2 nd, from 6:00pm 2:00am We will start filling schedule around April of 2017, Contact Joseph Holota , pd2569@mikof.org, or Mark Hornbacher , hornbacherconcepts@gmail.com Once again, we need your help as this is our main charity fundraiser for the year.. Remember, if everyone does a little, no one has to do a lot. On Guard for the Faith and the Order Brothers, the financial secretary must start the arduous and costly task of generating and mailing Second Dues Notices to 22 members who have not yet paid their dues for 2017 or requested any consideration. Dues are $36 for regular members and $14.40 for honorary members. As always, no dues for honorary life members. Brothers, please accept this request. Personally, propose a new member and attend his Admission (1 st ) Degree before June 30. Then encourage him to go through his Formation (2 nd ) and Knighthood (3 rd ) degrees. Applications are read at membership meetings. The next two membership meeting are on Tuesday, 2/21/2017, and 3/21/2017, beginning at 7:30 PM. The next two Admission Degrees close to the council will be on Thursdays 1/26/2017 and 2/23/2017. Registration begins at 7:00:00 PM and the degrees begins at 7:30:00 PM. They take place at Council #3830, Queen of the Holy Rosary, on 12 Mile Road in Berkley. 1 st Degree members take note that full knighthood occurs in the Knighthood (3 rd ) Degree.
